The Request

"What would you do for a million dollars?" The question is read on the top of the paper. "What would I do for a million dollars?" Elizabeth spoke lightly as she tapped her pencil's eraser head against the top of the table. Only a few days ago she received the application for Clear-water College, and she was planning on putting it with the other collage forms but her father stopped her and told her to at least do the essay part of it in case she changed her mind about going. She huffed and set her pencil down and lean back in the oak chair, she didn't expect herself in this position after she graduated a few weeks ago, she saw herself with at least a job earning money while she figured out what she was going to with the rest of her life but none of the stores she applied to either called her back or didn't have a position for her. Elizabeth let out another sigh and got up from the dining room table and headed to the living room to see if anything worthy was on the television, as she walked, she messed with her locks of hair and cringed a bit, feeling how oily they felt and decided to take a shower later that night. Speaking of tonight, her hazel color orbs glance at the clock, her dad should have been back home by now. She took a seat on the dull color couch and turn the TV channel to the news "He probably got stuck in traffic," she thought as she utters the words at the bottom of the screen.

"A driver struck Limousine,"

It read at the bottom of the new clip. Elizabeth eyes glazed over the overhead images it showed and felt a bit uneasy, the driver was driving a Gray sedan, the same car, her father drove. She hastily pushed that thought out of her head as she curled up on the couch "A bunch of people drive sedans," she told herself and felt a bit calmer as she started changing the channel. That's when she heard the sound of a police car enter the driveway.

A Month Later

"Your nineteen now, you're not my problem anymore!"My cousin Ember spoke bitterly as she threw the last of my personal items out at me and slammed the door to her apartment complex. I shook softly as I picked up my personal effects of the carpet floor and stuff them into the hello kitty bag that Ember's daughter Amy was kind enough to lend me while her terrible mother was forcing everything, I had left to my name out into the hallway only a minute earlier. The thing is this isn't the worst of my problems trust me, the sole reason why I'm even in the situation is due to him.

A month ago, I had an enjoyable life. I lived with my dad; I was about to go to college and I lived in a nice neighborhood and then one night my dad got in a car accident, everything would have been fine if it was any other driver but no, my dad crashed into Malcolm Fox. Malcolm Fox is among the top three richest people in our city and like most eccentric billionaires he is an arrogant, spoiled, wealthy playboy. He took away my family home, empty my dad's bank account, and caused me a chance to go to a good college, I will never forget the look on his face when I first encounter him, it was so emotionless like he didn't care he just ruined a life. My dad during this time was in a coma because of the injuries he received during the crash, I'm glad that he wasn't here to see the outcome, I'm pretty sure it would have killed him.

After a minute of placing what I could in the bag and putting the rest in my arms, I headed to the elevator and was soon out the front door and out of the apartment building "now what?" I thought to myself as I looked out at the busy street I took a few more steps before sitting myself down onto the sidewalk and looked through my phone contacts. Ember was really the only close living relative in the city with the rest of my family mostly living in Florida, the second close relative was admittedly my Aunt Joan but she lived in a cramped house out in the suburbs and I haven't even informed her about the incident.

I was still looking down at my phone when I heard the sound of a car slowing down next to me. I looked up and saw an ebony color limousine stopped in front of me, I stood up to move out of the way of the person coming out when one of the many windows on the long car rolled out, and a woman who looked about to be in her late 20s popped her head out. From what I could see she wore a maroon color suit and had long raven hair tied up into a bun.

"Elizabeth Sherri?"

I stiffen a bit and promptly took a few slight steps back from the luxury vehicle, a bit confused about how this woman knew my name. "yes", I answered back after a minute of silence, "I'm Caroline Patel personal secretary of Malcolm Fox, he would like to have a word with you" she spoke as she opens the car door to let me in. I stared at her quietly before quickly turning around and walking away as fast as I could, I sadly didn't get far when the older woman grabbed me by my wrist and stopped me in my tracks.

"look lady," I began."That bastard is the last person I want to see after what he did to my family," I said turning to fully confront Ms. Patel. "I know and am sorry about your father but Mr. Fox would like to have a meeting with you to hopefully help you with your situation," she said slowly releasing my wrist, I gently rubbed my slightly bruise wrist "Why would I want to talk to the guy who put me in this situation?"I asked fiercely narrowing my eyes down at her.

"Because from what he told me, he's willing to pay a million dollars if you do."

My eyes widen a bit from her statement and I glance away for a moment to consider. "He merely wants to talk to me correct?" I ask looking at her after a moment of thinking, She nodded and patted down to the seat across from her "He just wants to talk with you," she repeated.

I looked down at the seat before placing my stuff inside first before slipping into the seat. I looked up at the apartment building one last time before the window was rolled up and the limousine drove away.
