Ch. 9

Colton

My phone startled me awake. I yawned, wondering who in the world it was. It's either Mom or my twin sister, Erin. They're the ones who never leave me alone on weekends.

I glanced at the wall clock. Damn. It was already 9 o'clock. I usually wake up at six to swim and work out in my mini gym.

I had a really hard time last night. I was restless all-night thinking about Luna. She was so stunning, and that kiss was out of this world - couldn't get it out of my head. Now, I was finding it hard to resist her.

I checked the caller ID on my phone. My forehead scrunched up. It came from Sweet and Sebastian's place.

"Yes?"

"Uncle Colton!" It was Samuel. My nephew who's seven.

"Hey, what's up?"

"Guess where Mom and Dad are? Dubai!"

"Yeah, I know." Actually, I was the one who gave them the honeymoon package as a gift on their anniversary, but I said nothing to him. "So, why are you calling?"

"We're super bored. We want to go to the amusement park and ride everything!" He sighed, like an enormous weight was on his shoulders.

"Well, kiddo. All you got to do is wait for your parents to get back."

"Aw, that's a bummer," he said. "They'll be gone for ten days, and when they're back, it's back to school. Can you take us? Come on, Uncle Colton. Please..."

I let out a sigh and massaged my jaw. "Ah, isn't it a bit too late to plan for that?"

"It's still early. It's only nine. The park opens at ten." He sounded more excited suddenly. "We also want to grab some ice cream and a burger at McDonald's."

"You have the best chef in the house. Just ask him to make them for you."

"Nah... McDonald's makes them way better than Mario."

I laughed out loud.

"You should ask your parents first."

"I already talked to Mom and Dad, and they're cool with it. We just need you to come and get us."

"Seriously?" My forehead furrowed. Well, why not?

"Okay, I'm coming." I said and he shouted, 'Yes!'

The last time I hung out with the kids was last Christmas. We checked out a cartoon movie, then hit up McDonald's for some food.

I love those kids, and I really miss being with them. Being their only uncle, I feel a strong need to protect them.

I showered, threw on a white shirt and faded denim pants, and hopped in my white Maserati. Sebastian and Sweet's mansion is near the city, only a 15-minute drive from my penthouse. I'll be there in no time.

While driving, I couldn't help but think about what went down last night. It was a complete disaster when my butler, Amir, messed up my instructions. I just told him to get dinner ready for two. He asked if it's a woman, and I was like, "Yeah." He immediately assumed it was a romantic dinner.

That was so embarrassing. Luna was just as shocked as me. I bet she believed I was planning to make a move on her. I shook my head, remembering the excuse I came up with. That sucked. I should've just told her the truth, that I had no dinner plans the next day, and Amir just misunderstood my instruction.

And the kiss. Damn. That was seriously mind-blowing. I got to be honest, kissing Luna had me feeling a rollercoaster of emotions. It was so amazing that leave me wanting for more.

Now, I'm going to have even more sleepless nights.

My thoughts got cut off by my phone ringing. My sister Sweet called, asking if I was on my way to their place because her kids are super pumped to go to the amusement park with me.

"Yup, I'm coming. Don't stress, I'll look after them. Just enjoy your vacation there in Dubai."

"Absolutely. We checked out all the cool tourist spots. Thanks a bunch, Colton. Sebastian and I are having a great time here."

"Okay. I'll talk to you when we get to the amusement park."

"Don't forget to take more photos. Send it to me right away." She said, and we hung up.

I made it to the Stavrakos mansion. I parked my car in front of the house and sprinted to the main door. The butler opened the door for me immediately.

Sebastian's super loyal bodyguard and head security, Max, greeted me.

"Hey, boss! You're looking great."

"Thanks, Max. You are too." I tapped his shoulder, and we walked to the living room. "Are the kids ready?"

"Yup, they are. They were lightning-fast in showering and changing. They just set an Olympic record."

We both laughed aloud.

The kids were so excited when they saw me. They came running towards me, all smiles.

"Yay! Uncle Colton is here!" Zoe, the only girl, shouted.

I hugged the kids and gave them kisses on their heads.

"Yep, I'm here. Are you all set for some fun today?"

"Yes, we are!" The three kids were screaming their heads off.

"Shall we go?"

"Just a sec." Max said. "We're just waiting for someone to come and join you."

My eyebrows rose. "Who?"

With a creak, the main door swung open, revealing Luna as she gracefully entered the room.

Luna

I just got out of the shower when my phone started ringing. It was my brother, Sebastian. I was curious about what he wanted while he was in Dubai, honeymooning with his wife.

"Yes, Seb?"

"What are you up to today? Are you tied up?"

"Hmm, not really. There's a new series on Netflix that I'm excited to watch." I said.

"You got to go outside and get some sun. The kids are heading to the amusement park today. You know the two boys. They all get too excited and abandon Zoe. Can you go with them and watch her?"

"Now?" I glanced at my watch. It was already nine.

"Yeah, right now. Sorry for the last-minute notice, but you know how it is with the kids."

"I understand. They're so adorable, you know."

"Of course, like me." He chuckled. "So, are you going?"

"Well, um..."

"Good. I'll let Max know you're coming. Thanks!" He said, then hung up the phone.

Wait. Did I say yes or what?

Whatever. I love the kids, and I can't wait to spend time with them.

I wore a black sleeveless top, black skinny jeans, and white sneakers. I added a little black belt bag and a white cap to complete my outfit. Then I drove my black Mercedes to Sebastian and Sweet's place.

Being the daughter of a billionaire, I was used to having my bodyguards by my side. My parents hired them to always keep me safe. It was alright. I made it clear to them to keep their distance and, if they can, to stay out of sight.

That's just how it is. It's already a part of my life.

I got to Sebastian and Sweet's place at ten o'clock sharp, and parked next to a white Maserati by the front door. I started wondering who owned it. Since all their cars were in the basement garage.

Do they have a guest?

The main door opened, and I walked in, smiling with excitement at seeing the kids. My smile vanished when I locked eyes with those green ones. Giving me a really intense stare.

My face was burning, shy about seeing him again after last night.

What's Colton doing here?

"Aunt Luna!" The kids ran up to me and gave me hugs.

I looked away from Colton and turned my attention to the kids. I hugged and kissed them, too.

"You gonna join us? We're going to the amusement park," Zoe said excitedly.

"Um, yeah. Your dad called me."

"Yay! We're gonna have a great time!" Samuel yelled. "Uncle Colton is coming along with us, too."

Uh-oh. This is not good.

Some nannies and bodyguards will be there, but they'll give the kids space to be free. That means it would be just me, Colton, and the kids bonding together.

"We're going to grab ice cream and burgers at McDonald's, too." Joshua jumped with excitement.

"Yay," I said and glanced at Colton. He was there, all tall, strikingly handsome, and just watching us.

How could he act so relax like nothing happened last night?

Seeing Colton again after last night was so uncomfortable. I tried not to think about him, especially that kiss, but look, he's here now. Just standing there, bringing back how amazing and addictive that kiss was.

"Shall we?" Colton said, and everyone excitedly headed out.

Colton hopped into the driver's seat of a white SUV that pulled up. Okay, so he's going to be behind the wheel.

They put the kids in the back of the car, strapped them into their car seats, and I was just there, watching them.

"Get in, Miss Luna," Max gestured for me to hop in the front seat. I had no choice but to get in next to Colton.

Darn it. I was hoping to avoid him until he came to fix our business, but now we're stuck hanging out together.
