Iqraam

i stood up and stared directly in her eyes

it was then i realized that it was not her body that i had fell for- it was her eyes, the beauty in them and her speech, the perfection in them.

it was like a cold rush of blood when it hit me that i had fallen... in love... with her..

the feeling was excited yet fearful, it was amazing yet painful- i was happy, really happy

i smiled at her and her eyes went down

she was shy?

maybe she felt the same? just maybe?

"I uh... l-l-lik-like-" i stammered and rubbed my neck nervously and her gaze met mine

i felt speechless

what was i gonna tell her again?

oh right... confession....

i screwed my eyes shut and remembered that Allah was with me

whatever happens will be his will and no one elses!

i opened my eyes and she was waiting

inhaling a deep breath i started

"I-this is stupid but there is something you need- i need- well- you- and i both need to know ab-about me- and that is that since the day i saw you, there was something, just something about you that i admired- whether it be the way you talk or your eyes or poise or how you love my family or-" i said and looked up to see her staring with wide eyes

okay not good

i slightly chuckled nervously

"I have fallen in love with you" I whispered and looked at the floor

I did not dare look up and when I did, I saw tears in her eyes

"Shh why are you crying?" I asked her as I scooted closer to her

She took a step back and shook her head

"Y-you can't l-l-love me" she muttered and looked up to me

"Why? You can't decide who I love!" I told her and she avoided my gaze

"I-i have to go" she said and before I could stop her, she ran out.

I stared at her retreating back

Why can't I love her?

I sighed and called Shumayll

"Meet me at Hula Café in 5 minutes!" I said and hung up

My head was spinning and for the first time in my life, I felt insecure

About myself.... and everything....

I walked out of my office, frustrated and confused

what was her answer?

"so you are saying that she just left?" asked Shumayll for i don't know what time!

I nodded my head

He sighed and ran his hand through his hair

"See calm down- you need coffee" he said and pushed the cup of coffee towards me

I took a sip making a face.
I hate coffee

I pushed it away

"No I don't!" I muttered and he sighed

"Get up!" He said tugging my arm and I got up

Paying our bills, we walked out

He tapped something in his mobile and turned to me

"Iqra is meeting us at the park" he smirked and I shook my head frantically

She must not know about this

"She has to-" he replied as if reading my mind

"No she will be excited for nothing!" I replied trying to reason

The last thing I wanted to stress over was my sister and mother thinking they finally got another female in the family

"She will help!" He sounded so sure!

I sighed heavily as we walked through the park

There was nothing I could do

I heard squealing and I turned around to face two little kids running towards me laughing

A little girl with pigtails and a little boy both around the ages of 3 to 4-

I smiled at them

At least someone was happy

"I will tell mama, Zaik!!!" Yelled the little girl and the boy, Zaik I assume, laughed as he ran after her

The girl hid behind me and I smiled

Turning around, I knelt down to her level

"What is the princesses name?" I asked.

Her eyes grew wide and she took a step back

On the que, I felt something poke my legs and I turned around to see the Zaik poking my legs with a stick

Standing up, I dusted my slacks and stared at the two siblings or friends, I am not sure

"Don't dare touch my sister!" Said Zaik as he stood possessively in front if the girl

I smiled

Reminded me if my younger self

"I mean no harm little man- I am Iqraam by the way" I smiled at them and Zaik loosened abit

"Zaik" he smiled uncertainly

The little girl peeked from behind her brother back

"Zahira" she smiled giving me two teeth smile

"How old are you Zahira?" I asked as I picked her in my arms

She pulled out four fingers

"3 years old" she said and I laughed pushing one of her fingers down.

"Thats three" I said and she giggled

Shumayll appeared out of no where and smiled

"I see something set your mood" he said and I nodded

"Shumayll little man!" He said shaking Zaiks hand

"Zaik and that's Zahira!" He smiled and Shumayll nodded

"Since you two made our day good, how about I treat you all ice cream?" Asked Shumayll

"Yes!!!" Giggled Zahira in my arms and Zaik shook his head

"Mama will be angry Zahi-" he said and Zahira nodded

Zaik was pretty clever for a small boy

"Fine then you all wait here, I will get ice cream for all of us!" Beamed Shumayll and we nodded

I set on the park bench playing with the two kids 

Apparently Zahira wanted to play princess, so she was the princess, Zaik was her hero and I was the big bad dragon.

"Roooaarrr!" I said and Zahira giggled as she stood on the bench waiting for Zaik to reach her

Zaik poke me with a stick and I fake cried lying on the ground

Zahira lagged and a couple stopped by
I stood up and they smiled

Tourists..

"You are a very good father I see!" Said the blonde lady grinning at me and her husband I assume, nodded agreeing

I chuckled

"I am not their father- just their friend" I replied and they nodded smiling

"But you will be a great father!" She added and I smiled

Maybe?

They walked away and I turned to the kids who we're playing with sticks

I took the sticks from them and smiled

"Sticks are dangerous" i said and they looked at me weirdly

"Whats Danferos?" Asked Zahira and I laughed

Kneeling down in front of her i smiled
"Its dangerous- Dan- ger- ro- us-" I said and they nodded

"Dan-ger-ro-us" they repeated multiple times and grinned when they got it right

"Whats dangerous?" Asked Zahi

Playing with her small hands i smiled

"It means that it can hurt you- you know- cause you pain and make you cry-" i said and Zahi went into a deep thought

Out of no where she spoke

"Like when mamma cries at night?" She asked me

I stared at her

Mama cries?

Who is her mama?

Is her family dysfunctional?

"I am back!!!" Said Shumayll smiling as he gave us ice creams

Seated with the kids, we ate in silence when another familiar voice cut through the silence

"Zaik, Zahi?" She called

How does she know them?

I stared at her as she, oblivious of my presence with the kids, walked about looking for them.

Her brown eyes shimmered in the afternoon sun and I smiled

Masha Allah!

The two kids went alert and upon seeing her, they ran to her yelling out loud

"MAMA BEARRRR!!" they yelled and I stared at them

Mama bear?

Last time I saw her left hand- THERE WAS NO FREAKING RING!!!

How is she their mother?
Wait- she has two kids?

Oh no..
Ya Allah please help...
