Chapter 5: Escape the Library

As Noah packed everything up he started to hear rain pounding on the window. When it rained this hard, school was canceled and the library was usually closed. The library was already closed, so he was locked in the library. This was ridiculous he thought. He should have just gone to Doyle's house.

Noah stopped thinking when he heard a monstrous thunder boom down. He opened the curtains to his window and his room was instantly light with the lightning that could be seen everywhere around the sky. Noah closed the curtain and grabbed the key to his room. He grabbed a piece of gum and started chewing. He always thought better when chewing on minty gum.

After thinking about what to do, he finally got it. Noah's plan was to tie the towel around his head and hold on tightly to his bag and run to Doyle's house threw all the pounding rain. He was great at running, so it shouldn't be a problem. He texted Doyle telling him what he was about to do.

His bag was packed with his phone, water bottle, and the shark book. He was sure the librarian wouldn't mind him taking it for a while. He would surly give it back after he should Doyle.

"Alright here I go," Noah whispered to himself.

Noah tied the towel around his head. He then held his bag in one arm and his surfboard in the other arm. It would be a little difficult to run with the surfboard, and he couldn't let go of it either because it was his favorite that he had won in the contest.

He opened the window and the wind shout threw. Noah's eyes were forced shut for a second and then he started pulling on the screen that was attached to the window. He was trying to get it off, so he could get out.

Finally he ripped it off and climbed out the window onto the flooded grass below outside. He was already ankle deep in the pool of rain water. His feet slouched around in it as he tried closing the window.

As he closed the window, the screen went flying across the front of the library. Opps. Then Noah ran, charging threw the wind and rain falling down on him. Water splashing everywhere as he ran. Noah thought he was crazy, nobody would be running through this kind of storm at this time in the night. The towel flew off of his head after a while and into the wind. Noah hugged his bag and surfboard even tighter. He ran past the beach and saw that the water was really high on shore.

He didn't spot anything unusual about the beach or ocean.

Noah saw Doyle's house in the distance. He barley heard his new phone go off and he knew it had to be Doyle. Noah hoped he was ready to let him in when he got there. He kept moving to Doyle's house. Thank goodness! He saw that Doyle's front door was open and ready for Noah to come in. That's probably what the text said. Noah ran inside and shut the door quickly.
