Tyler's POV
I gasped as the monster let out another terrifying roar, before it vanished into the trees on the other side with me in its grasp. I screamed and tried to call to the others, while I tried to get free from the grip. I was terrified and I could feel my heart pounding in my chest. At least I had my mind clear once more.
I wasn't sure what had happened or what was going on. I'd heard him beckoning me, before he completely took over my mind and controlled me to the open patch of grass. I had seen him...the eyes...those red eyes. But then they vanished and heard my name being shouted. I turned around, but it still wasn't me controlling my movements.
"HELP!!" I shouted again, before I caught a glimpse of two females chasing after us. I recognized Jenna as one of them and Robin as the other. Great, I thought. I'm being saved by women...Brad's going to have a field day about this.
"Don't worry Tyler!" Robin cried.
"We'll save you!" Jenna added on.
Behind them, the others had followed. But I noticed something that wasn't good at all. Slowly, the distance grew and grew before they vanished from sight. I was horrified. Jenna and Robin disappeared and I was once more in the clutches of the monster.
I was finally dumped onto the ground by the guy. I found that I was right by a fire pit in the middle of a thick patch of brush. It'd take a machete to get through the tangle of vines and branches. I gulped, realizing that the gun I'd been holding had been knocked from my hold, so I was defenseless.
I watched the goat creature walk off and then reappear with the familiar ropes in his hands. I backed away, right into a tree. Fantastic Tyler! I told myself. You just helped him out a little bit, now he won't have to move you. You're bloody brilliant!
The goatman charged and seized my arms, forcing them together in front of me. Then he secured my wrists tightly with one of the ropes. He then let my arms drop and with a powerful swipe, smacked me across the face. I knew he'd drawn blood from his sharp claws and I saw him lift his hand and lick the crimson from the tips of his nails, which protruded from his fingers like Sabretooth's.
I gazed at him, biting back the pain and watched him tie my ankles together. Then he picked me up with ease and stood me against the tree. He didn't tie me to it, instead he reached up and pulled a branch down, snapping it, so it was still attached to the tree, but it hung just low enough over my head. He yanked me forward and attached me to the dangling branch, so that I hung over the ground from it. My arms were straight up over my head and I was already starting to feel numb.
The broken branch held my weight and didn't break anymore, even as I tested it out, pulling at it. Then again it was a massive branch and I'd been stunned that the creature could make it bend like this. It was almost inhuman...no, wait, scratch that, it was inhuman! It had to be. The goatman pulled the knots tight to the ropes and then left me, dangling from the branch like fresh kill.
The goatman put the fire out and then turned to me, it's beady red eyes burning into my own scared brown ones. I tilted my head to the side, trying to look away, almost like the creature had bad breath. And it honestly did.
"Don't move. You know the drill. And I mean it this time. Stay put or I'll hurt your little friends too," the creature hissed and then gave a soft roar and vanished from the area, leaving me alone.
Luckily for me, though, this time it hadn't bothered to gag me, so I could scream. But that also meant it wasn't going away for too long. "HELP ME!!" I screamed at the top of my lungs. "SOMEONE! ANYONE! HELP!!"
I kicked at the ground, unable to get a solid footing. My heels couldn't touch the ground and even if they could, I figured it'd be useless, because my feet were bound together so tightly I wouldn't be able to keep my ground. My shoulder seared with pain from being held up above my head. No amount of conditioning or working out could help the agony I was going through. And maybe it was all out of fear and in my head.
One thing was certain though, the goatman was probably hungry and I was on top of his food list. When the monster returned, I feared I'd be devoured and I wasn't sure anyone would find me in this concealed area anyway. For all I knew, I was going to be eaten by the Dallas Texas Bigfoot, the Goatman.
Evelyna's POV
When the shock of seeing the goatman, the actual goatman creature, washed away, Jenna and Robin took off after him. We followed closely behind them. Jenna and Robin kept calling out Tyler's name. Tyler screamed for help and we could see him struggling to get free from the grip but the goatman had a firm hold on him and he wasn't going to lose Tyler this time. He knew what he was doing and where he was going. We, on the other hand, didn't.
"Don't worry Tyler!" Robin cried.
"We'll save you!" Jenna added on.
I had a tight hold on Val's hand and I was really eating up all of this surrealness. He was letting me touch him like I was his girlfriend...and he was letting me hold his hand like we were a couple. If even just for these few days, I'd cherish this 'half birthday'...even if Tyler didn't make it. But I couldn't think like that, it wasn't right. He'd make it and be fine.
"Dang this goatman is fast!" Trapper commented.
"Stay on him! Stay on him!" Buck shouted out.
But we could all see him moving swiftly ahead and eventually out of sight. When he was gone, we all slowed and trotted up to where Jenna and Robin were. The goatman was fast and he was real for sure and he also had Tyler Seguin.
"That son of a bitch was huge!" Trapper exclaimed.
"And fast!" Buck commented.
"And it has the hockey player," Huckleberry added.
"What are we going to do about that?" Kristin asked. I could tell she was stunned. She wasn't the expert hunter and she hadn't believed. But she had seen. Everyone had. The Texas Goatman was really real and she was shaken up about it. "We aren't gonna let him have Tyler, are we?"
"No!" Jenna gasped. "We can't!"
"NET!" Val said. "Need Tyler on ice."
I nodded. "I vote we carry on and see if we can find anymore clues or even Tyler, otherwise, I vote we get out of here and come back tomorrow."
"You're sounding like a true team member there, Evelyna," Jeff chuckled.
"I've seen the show, I know how this happens." I shrugged, still holding extra tight to Val's hand.
"That son of a bitch knows these woods and he was moving through here like it was nothing," Trapper remarked.
"We need get Tyler," Val said.
We continued on, keeping to the path and seeing where the creature had scraped off chunks of bark from the trunks of trees. It was astounding the power of the ram horns and the damage it had done to the trunks. We kept our ears open to any sounds or for Tyler's screams but we heard nothing.
After wandering around for a good hour more and eventually discovering that the bastard had most likely pre-planned his attack and had led us astray from where he was really going to hold Tyler hostage, we called it, hoping Tyler would still be alive the next day. We returned to the cabin, exhausted. We found Dani and Layna and Gudas in the main room.
Luckily they were behaving. Dani got up as soon as we entered the room. We all sat down, too stunned. Jeff, Huckleberry, Trapper and Buck all huddle together, looking at the thermocam footage as well as the camera footage and evidence they had. They vanished into another room to conduct their monologues to the camera.
"Where's Tyler?" Dani asked, clasping her hands in front of her.
I shook my head. "We saw the Goatman and he abducted Tyler again..."
"Again? But I thought--" Dani trailed off. "That's horrible."
"We tried to save him!" Robin exclaimed, recovering from the hard run. She was still trying to catch her breath along with Jenna.
"Wait, some monster creature abducted Tyler? As in Tyler Seguin?" Gudas spoke.
"Yeah. But don't worry he won't get you! I won't let him!" Layna vowed.
"Thanks, but I'm finding it hard to believe a mythological monster kidnapped a hockey player," Gudas remarked. "I'd like proof."
"Oh, we got plenty of proof," Shannon stated. Her sister nodded in agreement.
"Well, let's see it!" Gudas said.
I left Val with the group, reluctantly and went to find one of the cameramen. I ended up finding Jeff and Colt Straub, the executive producer of the show, Mountain Monsters. I led them both back to the main room. Jeff showed them the thermocam footage and then Colt had one of the cameramen show them the actual footage.
Gudas shook his head in disbelief. "It's real."
"It's massive!" Layna commented.
"We gotta go back to the woods tomorrow during the daytime and the spot where Tyler was taken and we gotta look at it thoroughly," I said. "It's the only way we'll find Tyler!"
"What if use Cash or Marshall to track him down?" Val suggested, smiling cluelessly. "Dogs find owner quickly."
I looked at the Russian. "That thought crossed my mind, however I'm not sure that that is the best idea...for one, I'd rather not introduce Tyler's dogs to a meat-eating monster and for another, we don't know if Tyler's even still alive and if he is, this goat guy seems smart and he'll make it so that Tyler's scent is masked."
"Oh...right." Val looked down.
"It was a good suggestion Val, just not for this. But don't worry." I walked over and sat back down with him, patting him on the head. "Poor precious baby."
"So what's the plan exactly for getting this thing away from my house?" Kristin asked.
Trapper, Huckleberry and Buck returned from their private conversation just in time to overhear the question. I faced her and spoke before Trapper could. "Like I said, we go back to the woods tomorrow and gather more clues and knowledge. And while that happens, Willy and Wild Bill - two other members of the AIMS team - will build a trap for us."
"Wow, look at you, I guess you're a budding leader there, Evelyna?" Trapper said.
"She's giving you a run for your money, eh Trapper?" Buck catcalled, laughing.
"Watch it there Buck," Huckleberry warned.
"Should someone let Jamie know that his teammate has been kidnapped?" Delia pointed out. "I feel like he should be in the know!"
"Good point, Delia!" Kristin remarked. "I'll go call him and let him know. Everyone else get some sleep, we got a big day tomorrow. And hopefully Tyler will survive long enough for us to track him down and find him!" With that, she left the room, pulling his cell phone out and dialing Jamie Benn's number.
