Prologue
3rd POV
The hospital room was quiet. On the bed sat a woman with blue eyes. She was wearing a hospital gown and her brown curly hair was pulled in a ponytail. On her lap there were sleeping two new-born babies - a boy and a girl. The woman locked her eyes on the two infants.
"They're beautiful, aren't they?" she said towards the man sitting next to the bed. He had black messy hair and handsome features. His eyes sea-green like the calm ocean, and his skin tanned from spending time on the beach. He also had a beard, and wore a Hawaiian T-shirt and shorts. He turned his attention to the babies, then to the woman.
"They are," he said softly.
The woman turned to him, an expression of pure sadness on her face, before bursting into tears.
"I can't do this," she said through the sobs, "I can't separate them." The man sat beside the her on the bed and hugged her.
"There's nothing we can do, it's the Fates' will," he said sadly. "They will find each other again." he dug a hand in his pocket and pulled out two pendants and put them on the infants' necks. The pendants were black, each with a sea-green moon stone, shaped like a rhomb diamond, that glittered in the cold light. The man looked in the woman's eyes, his gaze serious.
"When you get home take off the boy's pendant. You mustn't give it to him until his seventeenth birthday." With a sad look in her eyes, the woman nodded, wiping her tears.
"I..." she sighed "I will"
The man took the girl from the woman's lap and took one last look a the woman.
"Be strong, Sally" he whispered in the woman's ear, before leaving the room with the little girl in his arms.
Be strong, my little witch, 'Sally' thought.
