Bianca and Nico AU
Warning: This chapter contains a lot of feels.
Bianca sat in the mortal hospital, her eyes slightly closed. She had her legs crossed, and her fingers neatly laced together. Her bow was covered with the mist, and had the appearance of a backpack. Bianca held a bag in her hands. She entertained herself by zipping her sliver jacket up, and then down. Up and then down.
Bianca looked up as a nurse walked into the room. "Miss Di Angelo." Bianca stood, rubbing her arm. "He's ready to see you." Bianca nodded, and followed the nurse through the rooms of the hospital. She normally didn't like it here. Full of people, wavering between the lines of life and death.
The nurse turned to a room, and opened the door. "I'll give you some privacy," she whispered, and Bianca walked in as the door closed behind her. She watched the sight in front of her. The old man's eyes twinkled, and his face cracked into a smile, showing old, wrinkled laugh lines. The monitor next to him beeped a steady tune, making the room eerily quiet.
"Hi Nico."
The old man responded with, "Hi Bianca. It's good to see you." His voice was cracked, and Bianca walked forward, taking Nico's hand in her own.
"How's it going? In the hospital I mean?" Nico sighed. "It's alright. Though I wish I could still fight with these tired old muscles. It's weird, being taller than you."
Bianca laughed lightly. "I'm sure. You bragged about it your whole life. You're what now, sixty years older than me?" Nico laughed back wheezily. "I've gotten too tired to count." There was an awkward silence. "Do you still have it?"
Bianca dug around in the bag. She took out the odd package, placing it gently on Nico's lap. "Mm hm." Nico held out his frail hands, tearing feebly at the wrapping. The paper fell away, and inside, his Stygian iron dagger lay. Bianca blinked away her watering eyes.
Nico took it in his hands. "It's been a long time since I've wielded this dagger. It won't go to waste." He took Bianca's hand, putting the hilt in her palm. "Nico, why are you giving me this?" "I don't have much time left. I'll have to leave, and my dagger will no longer have a use, unless you use it."
Bianca couldn't stop the tears as they began to roll down her cheeks. "N-Nico?" He smiled again, tears falling down his own cheeks. "Promise me you'll use it?" He asked.
And in his eyes, Bianca saw the small innocence he had of being her younger brother. All through the years, from a child, to a teenager, to an adult, and an old man. Bianca nodded. "Of course."
Nico gasped, coughing a bit. Bianca needed to be the older sister. "It's alright, Nico. Dad will take care of you. I promise." Nico smiled, and he closed his eyes in contempt.
Bianca came forward, and kissed his forehead. Her tears fell into his wispy gray hair. "I love you, Nico."
"I love you too, Bianca."
And with a finality, the monitor next to Nico flatlined with a mournful tune, and Bianca hugged her little brother, sobbing quietly.
