Chapter 3: His Vision
Hiccup
I couldn't really sleep last night. I kept having nightmares of how the games would go.
Jack would be stuck as a Career, Merida teams up with me and we'd find Rapunzel later on. But, things go wrong. Jack gets betrayed, Rapunzel dies, Merida disappears and I'm falling to my doom.
I woke up in a cold sweat and I screamed. Merida rushed to my room.
"Hiccup? Are ye ok?", she asked.
"Nothing. It was just a nightmare.", I said.
"Are you having dat thing were ye can see stuff in the future?", she asked.
When the gang and I were kids, I bumped my head and my vision wouldn't work. I saw something though. I saw the future and believe it or not, it came true. It was Merida breaking her leg a week later. A week later, Merida broke her leg from falling off her horse and landing into a tree stump. I don't think I've had it since.
"Alright, ya sure you're okay?", Merida asked.
"Yeah! When have I told you a lie?", I answered.
She giggled, said good night, and went back to bed. I couldn't have told her the truth. She would be scared and would have never gotten her rest. She and the others need their strength to get through this.
The next morning, I was super tired but, I got up anyway. I went to the front of the train for breakfast. Merida was already up and was eating a half-eaten scone.
"Morning.", I said. She bobbed her head up and smiled.
"Mornin' to ya too. Did ya sleep ok the rest of da night?" she asked.
I was thinking of what to say to reassure her.
"Yeah. I fell asleep shortly after all that. Jack and Rapunzel aren't up yet? It's half past 12:00 already." I said.
"Rock, paper, scissors to see who has to wake up Frosty?" Merida asked.
"You're on.", I answered.
I failed miserably. 0-3 and Merida won the jackpot.
I went to Jack's bunk to see that he's not there. Then, I figured to look in Rapunzel's room.
Rapunzel was sound asleep inside her bed and to be expected, Jack was asleep in there too.
What a tool.
I decided that the safest way to wake him up without having myself flying was to poke him with one of Rapunzel's paint brushes that were lying around and skedaddle out the door.
I quietly grabbed a wet paintbrush and splash the water all over Jack's face. As soon as I thought that his senses were beginning to kick in, I slammed the brush on the floor and ran for the next room.
If I get killed for this, I'm gonna get Merida first in the games.
