You were wondering around the Mirkwood forest, heading towards the Elven kingdom. You yourself were an elf, the older daughter of Lord Elrond of Rivendell. He had asked you to deliver a message to the Mirkwood king, Thranduil. Your father had, of course, wanted to send someone else, but you demanded that he let you go as to the fact that you hadn't seen Tauriel in forever and wanted to go see her.

So, that is how you were on this winding road in Mirkwood, heading for the Elvish kingdom. You noticed that the woods seemed much darker and stranger than usual, as though something was poisoning the forest. It worried you, but you didn't think very much of it...

...until the spider showed up.

There were at least ten of them, all of which were giant, hairy, and really creepy. Now, you weren't afraid of spiders in the least, but these just made your heart race. These weren't ordinary spiders. So, you took out your sword and began to slash at them when they attacked you.

Well, this wasn't in the plan... You thought, fighting on. You had killed at least six of the beasts, but there were now four left that were bigger than the others, and despite their size they moved insanely fast. It was getting hard for you to keep up, and the spiders knew that. They attacked differently, making you get nervous, and then pushed down on the forest floor with your sword out of reach. The spider that was holding you down raised it's spinneret, ready to stab you with it and paralyze you.

You'd be lying if you said that you weren't scared. With no means to defend yourself, you closed your eyes and awaited your fate, hoping that it wouldn't hurt too badly...

Then, suddenly, the spider was off of you and screeching. The others ran off and away, the one that was about to stab you dying on the ground with many arrows inside of it's skull. You recognized the arrows to be of elvish making, and looked to see-

Oh, Valar, not him.

It was the prince of Mirkwood himself, Legolas. You had met him when you had met Tauriel, and it seemed as though the prince had "fallen in love with you at first sight." He was overly kind to you, always tried to help you out, and gave you unwanted attention. Of course, you couldn't deny that he was very good looking and meaned well, but you kept telling yourself that you didn't like him that way. You had even tried to tell him that, but he wouldn't let up.

"Nice to see you again, (Y/N)," Legolas smiled to you as he walked over, holding out a hand to help you up. "Sorry about our spider problem at the moment."

You frowned and knocked his hand away, standing up on your own. "I would have been perfectly fine on my own." You told him, dusting off your clothes.

Legolas only kept smiling. "It is great to see you again."

"I didn't come to see you," You told him, crossing your arms. "I have a message for your father, and I wanted to see Tauriel."

"Would you allow me to escort you to the kingdom?" Legolas asked, as though your comments didn't phase him in the least. Which, they probably didn't.

"Well, it doesn't appear that I have much of a choice now, do I?" You said, starting to walk away. Legolas quickly caught up with you and walked alongside you.

There was quiet for a while, making you feel uneasy. Legolas would have tried to start up a conversation by now, not be silent like he is. It just...didn't feel right.

"Why do you hate me?" Legolas asked after a while.

You stopped walking, and turned to look at him. "I don't hate you. You just irritate me."

"How so?" He asked, stopping and turning to look at you.

"You..." You paused, unable to think at the moment. For some reason, Legolas seemed really good looking right now, and you couldn't think up of a reason to why he irritated you. You knew that you didn't hate him, but you didn't like him either. "You-you're just...you!"

"That's not a very good reason." Legolas smirked.

Holy mother of Valar, that was hot.

You shook your head, trying to clear your thoughts. "I don't know why you irritate me. You just do, okay?" You looked back up and started to walk again.

Just as you were about to walk past him, Legolas reached out and grabbed your wrist. You stopped walking, but kept facing away from him. "Please let go." You said.

"No." Legolas said. "Why can't you give me a chance, (Y/N)?"

You looked down and didn't answer. To tell the truth, you didn't really have an answer. Why didn't you ever just give Legolas a chance? You'd never had a lover before, and weren't really interested in having one either. But why didn't you ever just try to give him a chance?

"I love you, (Y/N)," Legolas said. "You're a beautiful elf, inside and out. You're often a kind person, and never miss a chance to try and help someone. You're a great fighter, and never give up no matter what. You try your best to be compassionate and caring to everyone you know. Except for me. Which makes me think that I'm special."

You finally turned and looked at Legolas. "You're special. You manage to irritate me no matter what you do, even though I know that you mean well and are trying to be kind to me. You always try to help me even though I don't need the help. You're always there for me. And, by Valar, you're really good looking. I don't want to take a chance because I've never done anything like that before."

Legolas smiled. "Is this some weird way of trying to tell me you'll give me a chance?"

"Maybe," You said. "You can't keep chasing me forever."

"I'll do it, no matter how long it takes."

You blushed and looked down. "Alright. One chance. That's all I'm giving you."

Legolas smiled and hugged you. "Thank you, (Y/N). I promise that I won't mess up."

He had better not. One chance was all you said you were giving him. But even though you won't admit it, you were willing to give him more than one chance. No one is perfect, and everyone can make mistakes. You found yourself hugging him back. "We'd better go before any more spiders come along."

Legolas chuckled. "Right."

You both ended up walking hand in hand into the kingdom.
