(Y/N) POV
I was sitting in the library, reading book after book. I sighed, throwing one over my shoulder and grabbing a new one.
"(Y/N)!"
I looked up from the book to see the first Fairy Tail guild master, Mavis. I raised an eyebrow at her as she floated down to me. "Yes?" I asked her.
"You've been working far too much." She told me.
I sighed and looked back at the book. "I've seen a spell like this before. If I could just find it again..."
"(Y/N)."
Mavis's voice was very comanding. It actually kind of startled me, and I turned back to look at her. Her face was no longer playful and joyus, but instead was pulled into a frown. "Stop working so hard. I want you to enjoy yourself. There's no point in trying to pull this off."
With that, I found myself being pulled out of the library and away to a job. I remembered how I had first met dear Mavis...
~Flashback~
"Mom! Dad!" I screamed.
"(Y/N)!" Mom yelled. "Get away! Please!"
"N-no!" I yelled back to her, running to them. "I won't!"
"You MUST! Or else you'll get sucked in too!"
The portal behind her was glowing in a mixture of colors. I was unafraid of that, but instead much more afraid of what would happen to my parents. Dad had already been pulled in, and Mom was trying to get me to save myself, but I was only 5.
"(Y/N)! Please!"
Once again I ignored her, and got closer, taking ahold of her hands. "NO." I forcefully said.
The next thing that I knew, I was being dragged into the portal with my Mom.

I woke up to feeling a strange thing inside of me. It was warm and gentle, and it made me feel safe. It almost felt like my mother's touch.
I slowly opened my eyes, seeing a golden and fire red face starring at me. Only, it wasn't human. Instead, it was something much different.
"Hu-AHHHHHH!"
"Well, isn't this a rude wake-up." It chuckled.
"Gah! W-what are you?"
"Well, such rude questions," It smiled. "If you must know, I am the Queen of the Fire Dragons. My name is Ember. And yours?"
I could only stare at the said dragon.
"I'm not going to eat you," She told me. "It is incredibly amazing that you had found me in the first place. Perhaps this place isn't the best to truly hide."
"Um...my name is (Y/N)." I slowly said to her.
"(Y/N)?" She asked. "That is a wonderful name."
I slowly smiled to her, trusting her more.
"And do tell me, Mr. (Y/N), where your parents are? You were quite battered when I found you."
I looked away, wondering the same thing. Is it possible that they're...dead? "I don't know..." I told her, trailing off.
When I looked back to her, I saw that she was smiling warmly at me. "Well, don't worry. I'll take care of you."

Ember treated me as though I was her own child. She taught me Fire Dragon Slaying magic, as well as God and Demon slaying magic. She told me that as the queen of the Fire dragons, she had to know.
After nearly four years of living with her, Ember disappeared, but not after leaving me behind a wooden staff. She told me, before she left, that it had the power to take me to different dimensions. I used it for years, amazed at the thing.
When I turned 13, I met Mavis.
I was walking down the dirt road to a different village, when a voice suddenly giggled. Not knowing who or what it was, I raised my staff in a defencive position, ready to attack if needed.
"Who's there?" I called out.
"Hm?" The same voice called out. "You can hear me?"
"Clear as day," I told it. "You can come out. I won't hurt you so long as you don't hurt me."
"I am out," It giggled. "Right in front of you, in fact."
I frowned. "I can't see you."
"That's because only the members of Fairy Tail can," She explained. "You should join! That way you can see me, and we can be best friends!"
I had heard of different guilds, but Fairy Tail had recently lost it's popularity. It had only really gained it back after they won the grand magic games, but I wasn't really interested in a guild.
"Well..." I trailed off. "I'm not really looking for a guild, you know."
"Oh, please! Don't worry, it's not a bad guild! I've made sure of that!"
"I know," I said. "I've heard of it. I'm just not looking to be in a guild."
"Pleeeeeeease?" The voice dragged out the 'please' it spoke.
I sighed. "Fine. But I won't like it."
"Don't say that! You haven't even joined yet, and it's not a bad guild. I've made sure of that!"
The voice began to lead me off to the guild hall, using their words instead of showing me the way. "I'm Mavis, by the way. And I'm a ghost."
"So that's why I can't see you." I said, things becoming clear. "I'm (Y/N)."
"That's a nice name," Mavis chirped. "It goes with you're face! You're quite cute, (Y/N)."
I felt a blush rush to my cheeks.

"I'm so done with you, Mavis."
"What? We were perfectly fine!" Mavis argued. I had come out of that job with the reward money, but not unsratched. I had a few cuts on my face and arms, and my leg was killing me, but I didn't complain, and was trying to hide my limp from Mavis.
"Easy for you to say," I told her, using my staff as a sort of walking stick. "You're a ghost."
"Hey, are you alright? You look like you're limping."
I looked away. "I'm fine."
"No, you're not. You're limping!"
"Mavis, there's nothing that you can do. I'll ask Wendy to look at it when we get back."
Mavis stamped her foot on the ground, and I stopped, looking to her in astonishment. "No!" She said. "You're hurt, and it is very much my fault!"
"Mavis, I'll be fi-GAH!"
Mavis suddenly pushed me over, and I fell to the ground. "Wh-what was that for?!" I yelled.
Mavis squatted down to her knees, taking my injured leg in her hands and making me wince. "So I was right..."
"Sh-shut up!" I told her, looking away as a blush rose on my cheeks.
Suddenly, I felt a weird feeling pass through me, and the pain in my leg went away. I looked to Mavis, seeing her smiling. "There, see? All better."
I continued to look away, when suddenly I remembered the spell, and how to make Mavis back to life. The only thing is that I would have to give up the object that I treasure the most. I looked to my staff, and sighed. Well, at least Mavis would be back. I grabbed it, stood up, and pointed it at her.
"(Y-Y/N)?" Mavis asked.
"Rise, and return, Mavis." I spoke, and a bright light took up my vision. I was dimly aware of my staff disappearing, slowly crumpling away...
...and then the light was gone, and I was looking to Mavis, who didn't really seem to be very much different. She looked down at her hands, gasping. "(Y-Y/N), what did you-"
I cut her off by stepping foreward and hugging her. "Welcome back, Mavis."
"Y-you..." She suddenly hugged me back tightly. "You sacraficed the object that you treasure most...you're staff from your mother...just so that I could come back?"
I let her go and looked away, the blush returning. "W-well, when you say it like that, it seems so much like a love story..."
Mavis pinched my cheek. "You know, you look even cuter when you blush."
I felt my blush intensify. "Wh-why does everyone think that I'm so cute?!"
I felt Mavis kiss my cheek. "It's because it's true. Now, come on! I'm sure that we'll want to tell everyone the great news!"
I let her pull me along, still stunned to the fact that Mavis had just kissed my cheek...
