He was a jerk.

But you loved him.

You were only two years younger than him. When you joined Fairy Tail, he decided to introduce himself you first. You were ten, and he was twelve. You showed him your magic, (your magic), and he was impressed. You both ended up becoming great friends right away.

You both went on missions together, and formed the Thunder Legion together. You were the first one to find out that he had killed a dragon and became a Lightning Dragon Slayer. He was a wonderful person, in your eyes. Admittedly, he was a bit cocky, but you loved him all the same.

When he started to change, you grew worried. He wanted to become the guild master of Fairy Tail, and you told him it was a great goal to pursue. You thought that he would be a great master if he tried hard. He would tell you that you were a great friend and could always rely on you. You would always be happy with his praise.

Then, he went too far.

When he brought up his plan for Fantasia, you told him your thoughts. That it was too much, and by doing this no one would want him as guild master. He lost his temper and hit you with his lightning. When he realized what he had done, he apologized, and tried to get you to come back.

But you ran away.

It was too late to tell the master. Evergreen, your good friend, turned you to stone when you tried to warn the other girls that they were going to become stone. When you finally were released, you told the Master about Laxus's plan. You left to go and try to find him, and when you did, you fought against him with Natsu and Gajeel.

When Laxus was defeated, you helped to treat his wounds, even though you had some of your own. He wouldn't meet your gaze or speak to you at all, which made things easier for you. After he was removed from Fairy Tail, you met up with him.

"Laxus," You said. "I-"

"I should have listened to you..." Laxus trailed off with his words, his back facing you. "You were right all along, (Y/N)."

"Where will you go?" You asked.

"I don't know," He admitted. "I'll travel around, and look for work."

"Laxus," You stepped forward and placed your hand on his shoulder. "You'll come back and visit, right?"

"I don't think that I'm really welcome around here anymore."

"You're welcome at my home."

Laxus turned around and looked at you. "Even after all that I did?"

"You'll be alone out there," You looked down. "And I don't want you to be all alone. You're still my friend, no matter what."

Laxus suddenly gave you a large hug. You hugged him back, careful so that you wouldn't hurt him too badly. "(Y/N)..." Laxus paused, as though he was going to cry. "Thank you."

You buried your face into his purple shirt. "I love you, Laxus."

Laxus didn't answer for a moment, making you nervous. "I love you too, (Y/N). Will you wait here for me?"

You nodded. "But you had best better come back, you hear me?"

Laxus chuckled. "Of course."

He let you go and smiled, walking away. When you saw that he looked back at you, you raised your right hand in a fist with your thumb and index finger extended. You couldn't see his expression, but knew that he would be happy. He was the one who came up with it, anyways. As he turned and walked away, he did the same to you, keeping his hand up and raised until you couldn't see him anymore.

You smiled. True, he was a jerk.

But you loved him anyways.
