Romance novel

Okay, I randomly felt like writing a romance novel, so here's the Prologue:

Alfred set down Rosetta's suitcase, hard. "What's in here, bricks?" He joked. Rosetta smiled, but her eyes were still teary. It was just like Alfred to be making light of the situation.

"I'm going to miss you, Al," she whispered. He put his hand on her back comfortingly. "Hey, it's not that bad," he said soothingly. "At least you'll still be in the continent."

"But Alaska?" Rosetta pulled away. "It's so far away! I'll never get to see you!" Alfred sighed. "I know. But I love you so much, I just know that we'll make this work. And what's more romantic than a love letter?" Rosetta swallowed. "I know, but it just doesn't seem real."

A voice blared over the airport speakers: "Flight FN-2187 to Circle, Alaska is now boarding, please have your boarding pass ready as you board the plane. Repeat, flight FN-2187 to Circle, Alaska is now-"

Rosetta sniffled one more time, and kissed Albert on the cheek. "I'll write as soon as I get there," she promised, picking up her carry-on. She turned, and, fighting back tears, walked towards the plane, and the handful of other people who were going to Alaska.

Albert raised a hand in farewell, and dropped it once Rosetta had disappeared into the plane. Then, he shoved his hands into his pockets and left the airport.
There's actually a story behind this. When I was in band last year, we were working on this piece called Midnight Sky. Look it up, it's really beautiful. But anyways, we had a band sub one day, and she was really good. People actually listened to her, which was a miracle, and she came up with this really funny story about the piece, particularly the climax moment at measures 17-21:

So, there were these two people, Alfred and Rosetta, and Rosetta moved to Alaska. And that moment in the song was when they got back together, and met in person for the first time in a long time.

I always imagined it as one of those slow-mo run-and-hug sorta scenes, and every time our band teacher would say "Okay, let's do Midnight Sky for a bit," everyone would be reminded of Alfred and Rosetta.

So, yeah. The novel that I'm writing is sort of inspired by that, so I named it Midnight Sky. Also, see if you can spot the Star Wars reference in there, if you're a Star Wars fan. But the novel is mostly just gonna be letters from Alfred to Rosetta, and vice versa.

Bye!
