This is pretty much what it says on the tin: me ranting about relationships in middle school.

I got the idea for this rant when I was walking home from school the other day, and these three girls were standing around, chatting. I heard them say something like this (just for the purpose of privacy, and because I only know one of their names, I'll call them Sally, Amy, and Patricia):

Sally: did you hear about (name) and (name)?
Amy: yeah, they kissed last Tuesday.
Patricia: oh my gosh, really?
Amy: yeah, it was so cute.

Okay, so now the rant begins.

First of all, I'm surprised that the two people (I didn't catch their names) were together for that long. Middle school relationships are more of classroom gossip than anything else.

One week, "Amy" will be talking to some group of people about how her close friend was dating some guy, and she thought that they were perfect together, blah, blah, blah, yadda, yadda, yadda. Whatever.

Fast-forward a week or two, and "Sally" will be talking about how the same couple broke up, and how it was "not meant to be", and how totally wrong " Amy" had been, stuff like that.

So, yeah. Eventually, word will make its way to me, and I'll be like, ha. Told ya so.

Second of all, they kissed? Really, I don't care how "cute" it was, the second the relationship is over, the girl will be all like: "ew, I kissed that guy. Gross." Even if the girl still thinks that this guy is great, she might just act like she doesn't care about him, because her friends think she's over him.

And finally, the aftermath of the breakup is usually pretty awkward at least. Especially if the two people are in the same class, and the teacher puts them next to each other on the seating plan. I mean, that's probably pretty rare, but still. It's not like the teacher is going to follow all of their students on Instagram or something, and they have no way of knowing what's going on in their social lives.

So for all they know, these two people have nothing to do with each other.
