"Hey G" Steve called after me as a walked to the bus stop.
"Hey Steve" I greeted him.
"Are you still on the County Road Bus?"
"Yeah"
"I have to go to this house after school, these people are going to be my new family. I can't wait to meet the family who got me out of Mrs Patterson's foster care, they have saved my life." Steve explained.
"Cool" I said looking to see if the Bus has entered the street.
"What's up?" Steve asked me.
"Nothing" I lied
"We were Best Friends I know when you're lying" Steve pushed.
"I know something, I don't know if you know" I told him.
"I know something too, Mum's will gave me a letter that she wrote when we were three. It said..."
"That we are twins" we said in unison. I became speechless, what just happened? The bus approached the school.
"There's the bus" I pointed to the bus and we edged closer to the gutter.
"let's go" Steve grabbed my hand and pulled me into the bus. We sat beside each other and the bus took off. This is going to be a long ride.
"I think I know where you are going" I told him looking out of the window as the bus pulled up at the next school.
"I'm going to an ex-copper's house apparently he is a lawyer now."
"I definitely know where you are going now" I bit my lip.
"Hey GG whose that?" Brit, a girl from the other school, asked she sat in the seat in front of us.
"Hey Brit, this is Steve, he's my..." I was unsure of what to call him.
"Friend" Steve helped he had deepened his voice when he talked. I pushed his arm and felt our connection restore.
"Ow" he exclaimed.
"I didn't realise how much of a princess you are. I thought you would be tougher since you spent 6 years in..." I stopped " how was school?" I asked Brit, changing the topic.
"It was cool our lacrosse teams played against each other and Mollie knocked Ice out cold." She explained she was on the girl's lacrosse team and Ice is on the boy's one.
"Serves him right" I told her.
"What did he do to deserve that comment?" Steve asked.
"Well, Stephen Ice used to date Mollie back in the day, but then while they dated she caught him with another girl and dumped him." I told him. Mollie, Brit and another girl Felicity are my female best friends, Felicity is the only one who goes to my school. Then their are Harris, Peyton, Billy, Ashton and Steve who are my guy best friends. Peyton,Billy and now Steve go to my school and the others go to the other one. We all play lacrosse for our schools and we go to each other's games if we aren't playing on the same night somewhere else.
"I understand now" Steve nodded.
"Girl why do you have to be the first on the bus by like 5 minutes like do you ever get tired of being first?" Ash asked Brit as he sat down across from me.
"I never get tired, have you seen any of my games?" She asked him.
"Yes, who are you?" He asked Steve.
"He's my friend." I told him as the others arrived.
"GG, where's Billy, Peyt and Felicity?" Harris asked.
"Felicity is sick, and the twins had practise for Friday's game" I told them.
"We have to go to that" Ash and Harris said in unison. Ashton and Harris are Fraternal Twins and Billy and Peyton are Identical twins.
"Wasn't Felicity that girl with the blonde hair in Kindergarten that always coloured with us?" Steve asked me.
"Yeah she is" I smiled at the memory.
"Remember the wedding we had? That was fun" Steve reminded me.
"Yeah it happened just before the... incident" I whispered the last word.
"Ok you know how much I love you and everything but that just has to stop coming up." Steve begged, his eyes were watery.
"Are you guys together?" Mollie asked.
"Us together no way" Steve and I shuttered. The rest of the bus trip was filled with gossip and lacrosse talk.
