So, this is a very rare ship but.

It's just so peaceful and quietly adorable??? It isn't very... Explosive, or should I say, very loud, since explosive makes me think of Deidara and Bakugou-

Anyway it's just really interesting. Free is someone who usually goes well with different types of characters, be they quiet or loud or something, as long as they aren't a toxic piece of shit. I mean, Free is confident in his skills but the moment he loses once he goes absolutely crazy.

Because he actually has very little sense of self worth beyond his status as champion and thinks that his value is dictated by his winning streak (which makes sense because everyone puts so much emphasis and value on his champion status so he's bound to do the same to himself.)

Of course, this is all my (over-analysed) headcanon so you're free to disagree.

Anyway, Free needs someone to tell him that he matters even if he isn't the champion. He needs to be told that even if he loses, he'd have his friends to back him up and care for him. Which is why he'd work well with people who coo all over him and are concerned for him, i.e., people who increase his self worth.

Rantaro is someone I can definitely see as being a caring and responsible person. Of course, he's a humorous, laid back guy, so he's up for mischief but he definitely knows how to take care of someone because, well, HE'S A BIG BROTHER AND A DAMN GOOD ONE AT THAT.

Am I making any sense?

....Yeah, kinda anticipated that.

Imagine Free as the "slacker", as in, he doesn't give a shit about himself, is quite irresponsible (being late, not caring about rules and just being uncaring in general.)

Rantaro is that guy who definitely has the good humour to appreciate mischievous acts (i.e. pranks and jokes and stuff) and he's laid back and understanding enough to excuse anyone's mistakes. I feel like these attributes complement with Free quite well, because I'm 10000% sure Free has a hidden mischievous streak + he disregards rules a LOT.

(I'm having a lot of fun imagining Free just being disrespectful to an authority figure and Rantaro picking up the slack and apologizing to whoever it is that Free offended-)

Now, Rantaro is a big brother. What does that imply? I'd say that from what we've glimpsed of Rantaro and Ranjiro's relationship, Rantaro is the more responsible and careful one- he scolds Ranjiro for attempting to take part in the Legend Festival with a broken arm.

That leaves a lot of room for Rantaro screaming at- I mean, aHEM, caring for Free after the self destructive idiot inevitably got injured, because again, FREE DOES NOT GIVE A SHIT ABOUT HIS OWN WELL BEING.

Rantaro be like: FREE WTF IS THIS?!?! GET YOUR ARM TREATED YOU IRRESPONSIBLE BUFFOON >:|

Free: I don't need treatment! I'm perfectly fine! It's nothing!

Three inches later:

Rantaro: *dragging Free to the hospital*  FREE ISTG IF YOU DON'T COME WITH ME TO THE DOCTOR-

Free: *secretly planning to escape as soon as Rantaro sets him free*

Rantaro: I'm not going to let you go unless we're right in front of the doctor, so you can abort your escape plans.

Free:

Rantaro: Yeah, buddy, you aren't escaping this time. :)

I have a feeling that the above scenario is in fact a regular occurrence-

Secretly Free, everytime Rantaro fawns over him and cares for him:

This is a really cute and wholesome ship though. Rantaro would teach Free about self-preservation and self-worth, and staying with Free would lead Rantaro to mellow out a little since he's kinda loud. And he'd be little more serious, I guess. Still the same honcho though.

Rantaro is someone I see as being rather innocent and pure, so Free is definitely a.... well, devilish influence since I see Free as secretly being all 😏 so....

RIP Rantaro's innocence. Hehehe...

Rantaro is also a patient person, as he is a great big brother to the more hotheaded Ranjiro. I see him as being patient when dealing with people who require patience, not when dealing with situations that are going too slow for his taste.

(Because I remember there being instances of him getting fed up and impatient but I don't exactly recall them because my memory is 💩)

If you're gonna be with Free, then you have to be patient to be able to put up with Free since he's kind of an asshole and frankly, an impossible person sometimes. So I'd say that Rantaro fits that criteria quite nicely.

At the start I said that it was peaceful because Rantaro is laid back and easy, and Free isn't someone who would usually have a lot of problems with a person like Rantaro who is very easy going. They might have disagreements but they make up by lots of cuddling (and if Free's in the mood, then... Well... 😏 Sometimes-)

As for who's top and who's bottom? I definitely cannot see Rantaro being a top with anyone- he would reciprocate, but he's rather shy in matters like... that. Free is definitely the top but that's just a personal preference, it can truly go either way with enough character development.

Free: Anyway, as I was saying, that sort of stuff comes later, when Honcho agrees to it without freaking out in embarassment. *smirks* I wouldn't do anything like that without your permission, Honcho, don't worry.
