Chapter Twenty Three: Breakfast and Stuff (Nico)

Thank you for what?

I saw Percy quietly run back down the stairs.

He stopped in front of me.

"Did you know that our luggage and our pets were brought in?" he asked me.

"No," I replied. "I didn't look last night."

(A\N more like I don't want to go back and fix it.)

"Neither did I," he said. "Want me to bring you Bianca?" (A\N His owl, not his sister.)

"Sure," I said.

He quietly ran back up the stairs.

He came back down the stairs with both of our owls resting on his shoulders and his pegasus (A\N yeah, remember him? I accidentally forgot about his pegasus. 😢Sorry.) in his arms.

Bianca flew off Percy's shoulder and landed on mine.

Percy's pegasus looked like a brown version of Blackjack.

He put the pegasus down on the table gently and sat down next to me.

He pulled a price of paper and a quill from his pocket and started writing.

I looked at what he wrote.

It said,

To: Professor Dumbledore,

I'm sorry for being rude to you at breakfast yesterday. I'm used to being rude to the gods.

From, Percy

Percy read it over a few times. Then after a few times through, he hit himself in the face (it was actually a really hard facepalm).

"It's in Greek!" he muttered to himself. He turned over the paper and rewrote the note.

Then he gave it to his owl.

"Can you send this to Professor Dumbledore, please?" he asked it.

The owl grabbed the note in its beak and flew off.

It returned a while later with another price of parchment in its beak.

"Thank you," Percy said, giving it a treat that happened to be in his pocket (after taking the note out of its mouth, obviously).

He put it on the table.

To, Percy,

It's okay.

I can read Latin, but not Greek.

And about the fact that you are rude to the gods, I'm not even going to ask.

And please come to my office tonight.

~Professor Dumbledore

P.S. I like chocolate frogs.

"Oooh!" I heard Percy say. "Its a riddle!"

"What is?" I asked.

"The 'I like chocolate frogs' part."

"How's that a riddle?" I asked.

"Chocolate frogs is probably a code of some sort. You think they'd leave the headmaster's office undefended?"

"You know," I said, "not everyone is as paranoid as you."

He ignored me.

"He's a Gryfindor too, right?"

"Where did you learn that?" Nico asked.

"I don't know," Percy said. "Maybe Harry said so and I forgot. . ."

"Maybe. . ." I said.

(A\N or maybe I just forgot to include it earlier. . .)

"The painting here needs a password for us to get in. Maybe chocolate frogs is the password to get into his office."

"You're right," I said.

"We'll go tonight," Percy said.

"Yeah."

We spent the rest of the morning just sitting and talking.

Were still sitting there talking when Ron, Harry, Ginny, and Hermione came down the staircases.

They saw us and walked over.

"Hi," Percy said. "Sorry I was so rude yesterday. I was in a bad mood. I haven't slept in months."

"And by the looks of it, you'll never want to sleep again," I muttered. Percy rolled his eyes at me.

"You're right, obviously, Nico," Percy replied. Everyone was confused. They hadn't heard what I said.

"Right about what?" Harry asked.

"He said I'd probably never want to sleep again," Percy said. "And that's true."

"Why not?"

"You know, I have really bad nightmares. I woke up in the middle of the night trying not to scream out in pain."

"In pain?" Ginny asked.

I glanced at Ron, Hermione, and Harry.

"You guys didn't tell her?"

"Tell me what?" Ginny asked.

"We thought it was too privet a subject," Harry said.

Percy smiled at him.

"You were right," Percy said. "But you should tell Ginny. I just don't want it floating around the school."

Harry nodded. "That makes sense."

"So tell me what?" Ginny asked.

"I was tortured, so on and so forth," Percy said. "I'll spare you the boring details."

"Tortured," Ginny whispered, her face filled with horror.

"And I apologized to Professor Dumbledore for being rude," Percy said.

"What else was I going to say?" Percy asked himself. "Oh yeah! This is a pegasus." He lifted up his pegasus.

"But they're extinct," said Hermione.

"Since when?" Percy asked. "We have a lot of them in America. My other Pegasus is named Blackjack. This on appeared when I waved my wand."

"It made a living creature?" Hermione asks shocked. "But that's never happened before."

"So I've heard," Percy replied. "We knew it was mine though. I can talk to them in my mind."

"What?" Harry asked. "How can you do that?"

"I can do it for all horses and sea creatures," Percy replied.

"How?" Hermione asked.

Percy and I glanced at each other.

"You know what?" Percy said. "We have to go to the headmaster's office tonight. How about you all come with us and then we will all explain it? Dumbledore already knows."

The four nodded.

"Okay," said Harry.

"Should we go to breakfast? We might be the first ones there." Ron asked.

"Sure," Percy shrugged.

We all walked out of the Gryfindor tower.

Percy and I pretended to eat our food. We were actually burning it to the gods in the fire Percy made in his palm under the table.

Then, without warning, Ginny asked, "Do you two have girlfriends?"

Percy seemed to choke on his food. Then he must've remembered he didn't have any food in his mouth and stopped abruptly.

"You're with Harry, right?" Percy asked.

"Yes, but---"

"Aren't you happy with him?" Percy said.

I touched his arm.

"Percy, calm down," I told him.

He sighed.

"I was just curious," Ginny asked.

Percy didn't answer. He just poked at his food glumly.

"But do you have a girlfriend?" Hermione asked.

"I am in a relationship at the moment."

I heard all the other girls who had one to breakfast early groan.

"And for all of you," Percy growled towards the girls who groaned, "I don't take kindly to eavesdroppers."

He glared at them and they all leaned back and away from Percy. Some even fell out of their chairs.

"Now can we please just get our schedules and leave?" Percy asked annoyed.

I shrugged.

We got our timetables, as these people call them, from Professor McGonagall and left.

When Percy and I were alone, Percy immediately let go of his mask again, but he was smirking mischievously.

He spun around to face me.

"Bet you ten drachmas Hermione finds out before we go to Dumbledore's office," he said.

"You're on!" I replied.
