Chapter 7

I pressed my lips into a thin line and hesitated while my heart skipped a beat before it started to pound harder in my chest. I grabbed my pillow and cleared my throat while I shifted on the bed, looking at him with wide eyes. "Are you sure?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper, and Thomas rolled his eyes and scowled.

"Yes," he said and nodded in confirmation. "They want to see you, but they will respect your decision if you don't want to see them." He paused and cocked his head while he studied me. "It's the same thing as Ben."

I bit the inside of my lip and let out a small sigh or relief before I slowly nodded and looked at my hands. "I already told Drake and Sky that he could come here if he wanted to," I said, my voice barely above a whisper while I looked at him again. "I was told that I wouldn't be left alone with him if I didn't want to be."

"And that's right," Thomas said and nodded, setting his jaw. "You won't have to be alone with him if you don't want to be. I am sure that you will be able to contact them if you want them there?" he asked and raised an eyebrow, talking about Jerecho and Miza.

I didn't glance towards them while I hesitated, silently waiting for them to either confirm or deny what he asked.

"He's right," Jerecho said and nodded in confirmation, and I bit back a small sigh of relief, grateful that they would come if I needed them in the room with me and Ben. "We will be in the room with you if you need us."

"And with your parents, too," Miza added with a small grim smile on his face, and I bit back another small sigh of relief while I sagged against my bed.

Thank, Goddess.

"But invisible," Jerecho said and winked, teasingly, while Miza nodded in confirmation.

"Wait," Miguel said and furrowed his brows while he looked between the two of us, confused. "Who?"

"Either Miza or Jerecho or another of the Gods and Goddesses that Miza or Jerecho are comfortable with watching over me," I replied before I shifted in my bed and cleared my throat, shrugging. "Or it could be both Miza and Jerecho at the same time."

Miguel furrowed his brows and slowly nodded, pressing his lips into a thin line. "Are they here now?" he asked and raised an eyebrow in question.

"I am sure that they are," Thomas said and nodded in confirmation before he leaned back against the bed, biting a sigh while he moved a hand through his hair and across his face. "Even though Sky hasn't had the chance to talk or catch up with her, it doesn't mean that they haven't."

Miguel looked around and shifted nervously, and I could tell that he was wondering where they were. "Well, where are they?" he asked and looked at me with a raised eyebrow.

I didn't respond and slowly blinked while I looked at him because I wasn't going to tell him where they were.

"All you have to know is that they are near," Thomas said, amused, and Miguel huffed and rolled his eyes while he scowled. "Are you still afraid of water?" he asked while he looked at me, changing the subject, and Miguel huffed again.

I grimaced and shrugged, my cheeks turning red with embarrassment. "I am still nervous but not scared of it," I replied honestly. "I know how to control water again or at least create it so that I can breathe underwater."

"Good," Thomas said and nodded.

"Wait, can you actually breathe underwater?" Miguel asked and raised an eyebrow while he looked at me, and I nodded in confirmation. "How? When?"

"Well, Miza blessed me when I was younger," I said and shifted in my seat while I cleared my throat. "I know magic just like Sky, and one of the things that I have learned was to breathe underwater."

Miguel blinked and blinked while he stared at me with an opened mouth, looking very confused. "Huh?" he asked before he looked between the two of us.

"She knows magic," Thomas said, slowly, "like Sky."

"But unlike Sky, I am not a Goddess, nor am I half Goddess," I added while I shrugged and grimaced. "I'm just a wolf with magical powers."

Miza and Jerecho looked at each other before they looked at me and stayed silent when I said that. Something on their faces told me that I wasn't just a wolf with magical powers, but they didn't know what.

I pressed my lips into a thin line and sneakily glanced at Miza and Jerecho before I looked at Thomas and Miguel with a blank look on my face.

Thomas frowned and furrowed his brows, catching that small look that I tried to hide. "What?" he asked and raised an eyebrow in question. He pressed his lips into a thin line and cocked his head, studying me. "What was that look for? What happened? What did they say?"

I pressed my lips into a thin line and shook my head. "Nothing," I said, making a mental note to ask Miza and Jerecho what that look between each other meant because I was just a wolf with magical powers and nothing more. "I didn't do anything. Nor did I say anything."

Thomas scowled and narrowed his eyes while he slowly blinked. He didn't say a word and looked the way that I had looked before he looked at me, not seeing Miza and Jerecho.

He cleared his throat and shifted in bed. "I know that is a lie, Kaitlyn," he warned, narrowing his eyes a little, and I hesitated before I looked at my hands and shrugged. "What was that look for?"

"It wasn't for anything," I said and shook my head. "I don't know why you think it was for something when it's not."

Thomas scowled and narrowed his eyes further, studying me. "I know that is a lie, Kaitlyn," he wanted, and I rolled my eyes and scowled while I looked at him again. "Why did you look that way?" He dipped his head closer to his chest, silently telling me that he wanted to know what Jerecho and Miza said or did.

I blinked and made sure to keep my face blank while I looked at him.

Shit...

"Well?" Thomas asked and raised an eyebrow in question. "What was that look for?"

"It's nothing," I said and shook my head. "Why are you asking me if it is for something?"

"Because I know that Miza and Jerecho are somewhere in the room, and they had done something you didn't like," Thomas replied and gave me a pointed look, and I bit the inside of my lip and stayed silent. "Now, what is it? What is wrong and what's happening? What did they say?"

I held back an eye roll and scowled, biting back an annoyed sigh. "It's nothing," I said and shook my head, praying that he would let it go, and Thoms snorted and rolled his eyes, and I had a feeling that he wasn't going to let it go.

"Wait, so are there Gods here in this room with us?" Miguel asked and raised an eyebrow in question. He looked around nervously before he looked at me, shifting in his seat. "Do you know where they are?"

I didn't say a word and bit back a small smirk, amused. I had no idea why he was so nervous about the Gods when both Thomas and I knew them and respected them, but I had a feeling that it was because he never had any contact with them like we have.

"I think you can tell them that we are here, Katie," Miza said and folded his arms across his chest while he leaned against the dresser before he cleared his throat and tapped his finger against his arm. "Just let them know that we will not be showing ourselves and will not be answering their questions just yet."

He dipped his head closer to his chest and raised both eyebrows in unison, silently telling me that he wouldn't be talking about the wolf thing.

I rolled my eyes and scowled, biting back an annoyed sigh before I cleared my throat and looked at Miguel. "So, Miza and Jerecho are here, Miguel," I said. "Unfortunately, they do not want to show themselves, so I don't think you will get to meet Miza just yet."

Miguel bit back a small gulp and looked around the room again before he looked at me. "Where are they?" he asked and raised an eyebrow in question.

I gestured to where they were at, and Miguel looked that way before he looked at me with a blank look on his face. "That's where they are," I said before I shook my head, biting back an annoyed sigh. "Don't give me that look, Miguel."

Miguel slowly blinked and looked at Thomas. "Are they there?" he asked and raised an eyebrow in question, and Thomas gave him a deadpanned look, not saying a word.

Miguel cocked his head and furrowed his brows. "What?" he asked, confused. "Can't you see them? You know about them and have met them, right?"

Thomas sighed and shook his head, moving a hand through his hair before he cleared his throat and shifted in his seat. "Yes," he confirmed with a slight nod of his head. "I know about them, but I am not able to see them right now."

"Why not?" he asked and raised an eyebrow in question.

"Because they don't want to be seen by me. That's why I can't see them."

"Then what makes Katie so special?" Miguel grumbled, folding his arms across his chest with a small pout on his face.

"Because I have lived with them for a few years, Miguel," I replied, sarcastically. "I've been blessed by a God, who isn't Luna by the way, and they care about me just as much as they do Sky."

"Atta girl," Miza said with a small chuckle in his voice, his voice barely above a whisper.

I rolled my eyes and pressed my lips into a thin line, not saying a word to them. "But seriously, do you really think that I wouldn't be able to talk to them or see them?" I asked and raised an eyebrow in question.

"Well, there are times you can't see them, right?" Miguel asked and raised an eyebrow in question.

"There are," I confirmed and nodded. "However, I can see them right now. I can also hear them and feel them if they decide to touch my shoulder or flick my hair or do something like that." I pointed toward Jerecho when Jerecho started to move toward me from Miza's side, and Jerecho stopped and stared at me with a wide grin on his face. "Don't you dare start."

Thomas chuckled and nudged my shoulder, amused. "Who?" he asked and raised an eyebrow in question.

"Jerecho," I replied, and Thomas nodded as if he knew that was who was going to try something. "He was going to touch my shoulder and make my hair go in different directions."

Jerecho chuckled and leaned back in his seat, clearing his throat. "Well, it would have been fun," Jerecho said and shrugged, biting back an amused smile.

"For you," Miza said and gave Jerecho a pointed look.

Jerecho bit back a small smirk and shrugged. "Hmph."

Thomas cleared his throat and looked at me. "So, what is it that they did that you didn't like?" Thomas asked, turning the conversation back to what we were talking about. He raised an eyebrow in question while he studied me. "What did you not like?"

I bit back an annoyed sigh and shook my head, moving a hand through my hair while I grimaced. "It's not that I don't like it, but they gave each other a secret look, and I don't know why or what's it about."

Thomas and Miguel looked at each other before they looked at me. "What was the look about?" Thomas asked and raised an eyebrow in question. "And are they going to tell you what it meant?"

"That is a possibility," I said and shrugged while I grimaced deeper. "However, they gave each other a look when I said that I was only a regular wolf with magical powers. They don't think I am, but they don't know what I am."

"Are they going to find out?"

"Of course," I said and nodded in confirmation, biting back a small snort. "They are going to find out what it means even if it means asking Luna and see if it's written."

"Written where?" Miguel asked and raised an eyebrow in question while he looked between Thomas and I again. "Where does it need to be written?"

"It'll need to be written in the stars," I said, offering him a sad smile while I shrugged. "It'll need to be written in the stars if I am allowed to know or not."

"And if not?"

"Then I wait," I said and shrugged, grimacing before I cleared my throat and shifted in my seat. "I will wait until it's written in the stars for me to know what I am and not just a regular wolf with magical powers."
