Chapter 45 - Back to reality
Ashley's POV
The sun was shining through the large windows as it made me wake up. I opened my eyes, yawning. When I looked at the other side of the bed, Blaze wasn't on the bed. I stretched out and got up, wrapping the cover around me.
I wrapped a towel around me as I walked out of the bathroom. I dried my hair and body. Then, I put on a navy blue dress and called Patricia. She told me Aspen was calm; he didn't cry so much, and he was sleeping now. I missed my little boy.
After I had hung up, I went downstairs. Blaze wasn't here either. I walked towards the garden.
I smiled as I saw him in the garden, holding a bouquet in his hand. He gave me his signature, heart warming smile.
He made breakfast for us. There were flowers on the table too.
I approached him as I placed a soft kiss on his lips.
"Morning." I greeted him happily.
"Morning." He greeted me back as he handed me the bouquet.
I took it, giving him a broad smile. I smelled them, closing my eyes. It smelled wonderful.
"Thank you." I said as I opened my eyes.
He smiled at me as he cupped my cheeks and kissed my lips.
"Let's have breakfast." He suggested. I nodded.
I placed my knife and fork down on the plate as I sighed. "I don't want to go back. I wish I could stay here with you for more days. But we need to go back to reality." I admitted sadly.
He placed his hand on top of my hand on the table and held it as he gave me a warm smile.
"Ashley, we need to tell them the truth." He confessed.
I sighed as I admitted. "I am afraid of my father's reaction. But you are right; we should tell them." I gave him a slight smile. "And it will not get worse than it is now." I sighed, depressed.
He gave me a slight smile as he brought my hand to his lips and kissed it.
"We will tell them after the anniversary ceremony of our company." He said. I nodded in agreement.
I was watching the changing scenery through the window as we were going back.
Blaze parked his car in front of the mansion. He held my hand, interrupting my thoughts. I turned my head towards him as I gave him a slight smile.
He cupped my cheek as he said. "Don't worry. Everything will be fine." He gave me a reassuring smile.
"I hope." I sighed.
"Let's go. I missed my son." He gave me a wide smile.
I smiled happily. "I missed him too."
My mood changed as he mentioned our son. I missed his heart-warming smile, his giggles. My little man.
We got out of the car. Blaze placed his hand on my lower back protectively, heading us towards the door.
Aspen was in Patricia's arms. They were playing. Aspen was babbling while trying to catch the toy.
"Mom and Dad are home." Blaze said cheeringly.
As Aspen heard our voices, he searched for us, looking around. We smiled at his reaction. When he saw us, he raised his arms towards us, babbling.
Blaze took him in his arms and kissed his cheeks.
"We missed you so much, my boy." Blaze said as he placed a kiss on his forehead, stroking his hair gently. Then, he gave me Aspen.
"My boy." I hugged him tightly in my arms and breathed in his scent.
My little baby.
I placed plenty of kisses on his cheeks. He giggled, gripping the lock of my hair.
We were sitting on the couch. Aspen nuzzled against my chest, he was staying calm in my arms without moving so much. Blaze stayed a little more with us before going to the company; he wanted to spend some time with Aspen.
Blaze caressed Aspen's hair gently as he said, smiling widely. "He missed Mommy."
"Mommy missed him too." I said as I kissed his head, caressing his back.
"I am getting jealous." Blaze faked sadness. I smiled.
"I didn't say anything when you two were buddies without staying away from each other for a second." I said playfully.
"Yes, you didn't." He teased as he gave me a mischievous smirk. I stuck my tongue out at him. He laughed.
Aspen fell asleep in my arms. I caressed his back and stood up carefully without waking him up. Blaze stood up too. He approached us and kissed his head, caressing his hair. He pulled back and placed a soft kiss on my lips.
"See you later." He whispered.
"See you." I gave him a bright smile.
I went upstairs as he left. I kissed Aspen's forehead and placed him into his crib. I stroked his hair and pulled the blanket over him. I watched him for a while while he was sleeping. Then, I tiptoed out, trying not to wake him up. I closed the door behind me and went to my bedroom.
I called my mother. She told me my father was still angry at me. After talking to my mother, I decided to have a nap; I was tired.
I put on a black dress. I left my hair open and put my makeup. I took my clutch and went downstairs. There was the anniversary ceremony of the company this evening. My parents were coming to the ceremony too. George convinced my father to come, but he had not been talking to me; he was still angry at me.
James had come back, but he was still trying to avoid me as much as possible.
When Blaze saw me, he roamed me from head to toe lustfully. He winked at me as he mumbled under his breath. "Stunning." I smiled at him.
I was bored a little. My eyes met Blaze's eyes. He gestured to me to follow him. I nodded and followed him without drawing attention.
"Come with me." He murmured in my ear as he rested his hand on my back.
"No, someone can see us." I said.
"They are busy. Don't worry. I will hide you if we need it." He winked at me as he gave me an irresistible smile. To say no to his charm was impossible.
He grabbed my hand and headed us towards his office. He closed the door behind us as soon as we walked in. He held my hand and we went towards his desk. He leaned against his desk and rested his hands on my waist.
I wrapped my arms around his neck while I was standing between his legs. He tightened his grip around me, pulling me closer to him. There were a few inches between our lips. He had given me a charming smile before he closed the distance between our lips.
