Chapter 3
Thursday came in the blink of an eye. Which meant that Gavin had to endure whatever Connor and Nines had concocted in their heads. At least today would be entertaining. "Alright pricks, what are you planning?"
"It's quite simple really, you're treated as an android. Look, we even have a spare uniform. Should fit." Connor explained. He held up one of his spare jackets. Arm band, triangle, and all.
"No way, I am not putting that thing on. And you can't make me."
"A deal's a deal, Gavin. You're a man of your word aren't you? When it comes to romantic partners anyway."
"So come on Detective Reed, will you do it?" Nines asked putting his hands on Gavin's shoulders comfortingly, "For me?"
Gavin hesitated before answering. He didn't want to disappoint Nines, I mean, who would want to disappoint their lover? But he also didn't want to make it seem as though Nines had any form of control over him. As far as the rest of the officers knew, he was known for hating androids and they though he just needed some dick. But Connor, Nines, and I knew better.
He took the jacket and put it on in lew of his usual leather jacket. Grumbling to himself as he did so. Nines looked at him affectionately, "Now, why don't you be a good little android and get me some coffee. Two creamers, three sugars, decaf."
Gavin stomped away to the break room. Just when he was out of earshot Connor spoke, "You do know we don't have any more creamer, correct? And that you don't need to drink coffee?"
"I'm aware, that's why I asked for it."
"So Nines, is this just your way of justifying you acting like a dick to Gavin?" I asked. He nodded and waited patiently with his hands folded behind his back for Gavin to arrive with his coffee.
Gavin returned with a cup of coffee in hand, "There's no creamer."
"Then go find some."
"What the f-"
"Ah ah ah," Nines tutted, "Good little androids don't swear. They do as they're told with no hesitation."
I looked at Connor to see what his stance on this was. He seemed to have been enjoying it, evident by the smug grin on his face. Watching someone who verbally abused you for years getting the same treatment, it felt nice.
"So what, when I want to ve-"
"Want? You want? Androids don't want." Nines said, taking a step towards Gavin. "They don't have wants, they don't have desires," He continued to walk towards Gavin until he loomed over him. "They execute their program and do whatever they are told."
Connor and I could see the fear in Gavin's eyes, yet something inside us told us not to stop Nines. He could tear him limb from limb if he wanted, but he never did. He was always gentle when it came to Gavin. Even when he was teasing him he always made sure that the insult never hurt him. Yet, it seemed as though he weren't holding back. "Now, go do as your told before I have to do something drastic."
Gavin then scampered off to go find what he was sent to get. Connor and I looked at Nines attempting to find out what was going on in that impressive mind of his. I couldn't seem to figure it out, he had a rather impressive poker face, but the LED he chose to keep intact, was a different story. He was currently processing, the fact that he stood stiff as a board was an indication that he was preconstructing something. Connor seemed to be able to read his expressions and mannerisms like a book. It was dead silent until Nines snickered.
"What's so humorous, Nines?" Connor asked.
"Oh nothing, except the fact that Detective Reed fears that I would cause him harm." He explained. He wasn't wrong, it was rather humorous that Gavin thought that an android that was built to protect people would cause harm to a person. That just showed how little he cared about androids, not even bothering to consider the fact that it was against Nines' "morals" to harm humans. "He seems to be taking this rather seriously."
"Just wait until Hank finds out, he's gonna have a cow." I pointed out. If Hank heard anything about the bet he would flip his shit. The four of us knew that but only one of us actually cared. And that one that cared, was of course Connor. Hank had virtually no control over what Nines, Gavin, and I did. But he did have some control over Connor. Granted he was now deviant and decided to not let humans give him orders, he still obeyed when necessary.
"I'm sure he'll understand. After all, he dislikes Gavin just as much as we do. If not more." Connor explained, obviously his hatered were more than Nines'. Hank wasn't using him for the recreational activities that Nines was. Either way, Gavin wasn't the best person to be around and they both knew it. And speak of the devil, Hank had walked behind us.
"So what are you three doing here, specifically you Nines, these two might have been trying to have a nice romantic moment." He joked. Knowing full well what Connor and I did off hours, most people did, and having Nines in the same area rose a few suspicions.
"We're awaiting Gavin's return." He explained. "He lost a bet and now he's being treated similarly to the way he had treated RK800 and I before the revolution."
Hank was slightly confused. No one ever referred to Connor by his model. And it was even more strange to hear the model in a voice similar to his own. Connor never talked to Hank about his model, granted he knew it, he just never spoke about it. "So basically you're treatong him like a dick?"
I hummed, "Surprised he hasn't called him a 'fleshy prick' yet."
"If he is to be treated the way he had treated RK800 and I, he will be called as such, referred to as plastic, tin, and varying other derogatory terms used when speaking to or about androids."
