Chapter 15
The Bet
Clarke entered the lobby of the hotel and was floored. She literally lost her breath at the sight of the place. She looked up, doing a 180 but stopped when she heard a familiar voice.
"Careful there Daddy, remember what happen the last time you didn't pay attention to where you were going... I ended up with the minute man waiter." Gil joked and stuck his tongue at Clarke.
She turned to find him standing right behind her. "Damn, now thats one gorgeous man right there." Gil jumped, wrapping his legs around her waist.
"Damn why are you so cute? C'mon, let's go see what Dunk is up to." He said as Clarke put him down. He grabbed by the hand as they headed for the elevator. "She's been talking about you nonstop all day. But don't tell her I told you that. She'll kill me for it."
They made it to Janet's suite. Gil knocked then opened the door.
"Wow." Clarke said.
"I know it's beautiful right?" Gil said as they walked into the bedroom where Janet stood at the vanity putting on her makeup.
Clarke stopped and smiled. "Yeah," She finally said. "Absolutely breathtaking."
Janet turned to see the two of them standing behind her. "Clarke." She said softly and smiled. Like magnets, they were drawn to each other. Clarke held out her hand. Janet took it and pulled her into a kiss.
Gil smiled and stepped out of the room shutting the door behind him.
Clarke pulled back breathlessly. "I don't want to mess up your makeup J." She said and smiled.
"Fuck the makeup, I have team coming soon to fix it anyway, I just wanted to look nice for you." She said reclaiming her lips as Clarke backed her into the counter, picked her up and sat her on top of it. Janet spread her legs wide allowing Clarke to press her hips firmly against her.
"You always look amazing and my God you smell so good." Clarke bit her bottom lip.
"Come closer." Janet said turned her head as Clarke sniffed and softly kissed her neck.
Their eyes met again and Janet smiled. "Hey beautiful." She said.
"Hi." Clarke said and smiled. "How's your day going pretty girl?" Clarke held onto her hips tightly while Janet caressed the back of her neck and played in her dreads.
"So much better now that you're here."
"Been missing my ass huh?" Clarke asked, Janet started to laugh. "I know it's true. Gil told me you've been talking about me." She said with a smirk.
"That bitch." Janet rolled her jokingly. "I should've known he would tell you. Anywaaaays," Janet continued. "How is your day?" She slid her hands up the back of Clarke's shirt, touching her skin.
Goosebumps covered Clarke's arms and neck. She raised an arm and pointed. "Do you see this? This is what happens every time you touch me or kiss me. Even when you say my name, I get Goosebumps all over." She put her hands on Janet's face caressing her gently. "And my day is going amazing. Thank you." Clarke leaned in for another kiss.
Gil knocked on the door. "Hey Jan, come out here. You need to see this." Clarke and Janet both met him in the living room. He pointed to the television.
"You tried to tell him. I can't believe he had the nerve to be so upset about one little picture. Maybe he'll chill about that now." Gil said turning to Janet who just watched the screen in silence for a second.
"Maybe, I told him we can't keep Eissa closed off from the world forever. It doesn't work that way in my world." She said and turned to Clarke who hadn't said a word. Clarke didn't feel it was her place. So she remained quite. "I was proud," Janet continued, "and I wanted to share a picture of my baby. What's the harm in that?"
"There is absolutely no harm in that at all. He's beautiful." Clarke replied and she smiled at the picture of Eissa still on the screen.
"Well I'm hungry, can we order food for a bitch starve." Gil said.
They ordered in lunch as Gil and Janet told Clarke numerous stories about their journey together, the people they encountered and all the crazy fun things they did over the past 15 years.
Janet glanced over at the clock. "Shoot you guys. We need to get cleaned up. Hair and makeup will be here in 45 minutes." Gil kissed them both and headed for his room. Janet and Clarke jumped in the shower, separately this time. Janet didn't trust herself to behave and the clock was counting down.
After their shower there was a knock on the door.
"Clarke! Can you get the door please?" Janet called out as she finished towel drying her hair. With in seconds the room went from being quiet to people laughing and talking. Music played in the background while they gushed about how big the tour was going to be.
Clarke wasn't used to having people help her get ready but she enjoyed it. She and Janet had gotten dressed in separate areas of the hotel room. She sprayed herself with some cologne and glanced in the mirror one more time before heading back into the living room.
Gil was already sitting and waiting, champagne glass in his hand.
"Damn you clean up nicely." He said sniffing her. "And you smell like hallelujah!" He joked as Clarke began to laugh.
"Thank you!" Clarke kissed his cheek. "You don't look so bad yourself."
Janet's room door opened and there she was. All eyes were definitely on her in the room. She smiled at Clarke. Damn. She thought to herself.
Janet made sure to thank her team for helping them get ready and they began to pack up and leave.
After the crew left, Gil pulled out his cell.
"I want to take a picture of you guys. This is like some Vanity Fair type shit today bitch." Gil said. "Over here, by the window." He pointed.
Janet and Clarke played along and posed.
"Yaaaaaaas Dunk! Give them face honey!!!" Gil squealed and snapped the picture.
