Chapter 15
Several hours passed with the Coven Heads performing their own duties and responsibilities.
They took care of their covens and the paperwork that had arisen, even if Darius just wanted to push it on someone else. They hadn't seen Golden Guard since their brief encounter in the hallway either. So now the Coven Heads were sitting in the Coven Heads meeting room, all of them burying their heads deep in their work until the first of them looked up. The Illusion Coven leader stretched and sighed in relief as he looked around.
That Raine had betrayed them still hit most of them deep and yet life had to go on. Where raine was now, they all didn't know ... they just knew that they had to be here somewhere in the castle.
"It takes so long.", Darius sighed in frustration with his work, even if he was almost finished himself. Some agreed, but others remained silent.
In itself there was a calm silence that lasted until they were all finished and finally the conversations flared up again. They exchanged views on the standard topics, at least until the door suddenly opened and Golden Guard walked in.
They all immediately noticed his strange look ... as if he were not 100% present and still busy with something else. He quietly closed the door and sat down almost monochronously on his chair. He didn't make a sound, didn't make eye contact with them ... it seemed like he just needed their presence. "Hey ... are you all right?" Asked the construction leader. It took a few seconds for his words to reach the much younger one. When they did, he blinked in surprise and looked up at him quickly. Somehow he looked even more stressed than usual, his dark circles under the eyes were darker than last time and his hair was also a bit wilder, the Plant Coven leader thought. "Y-yes ...", he answered clearly and yet hesitated in his answer. As if he would like to say something but don't dare. "You don't have to hide anything from us.", The Oracle Coven leader murmured and rubbed his bard briefly.
Golden Guard hesitated ... let his gaze wander calmly over everyone present. "You don't have to tell anything if you don't want to.", The Healing Leader smiled encouragingly.
The blond boy shook his head. "No no ... all right .." He sighed and actually ran a hand through his hair for a moment. "I brought a key for the portal to Emperor Belos ... but he didn't look very happy with it ... besides, I went on this mission without his permission." The boy looked at the table in front of him, ashamed. Darius raised an eyebrow, Golden Guard seemed even more like a child than usual ... Or he was just finished with his world.
"But there is more, right?" Asked the Potion coven leader. But Golden Guard shook his head stubbornly. "No, that is none of your business." "Very well. As you like," said the illusion leader and shrugged. Eberwolf looked up at them and made a sequence of tones.
The Plant Coven leader continued to give the boy an encouraging look.
"You can come at any time if you want. Just to one of us if that helps you for now.", She offered and everyone else nodded in agreement, even Darius did it. "But put on other shoes first and wash your hands!" Golden Guard actually had to laugh and Darius grinned with a more serious look, as it was of course no joke on his part. After all, he didn't know where the blond boy's shoes had been.
However, Golden Guard smiled something that not only caught his eye but also the other 7. The boy still looked exhausted and stressed, but the smile contributed to the fact that he looked a little more alive again.
"Thanks ..", the boy suddenly mumbled audibly. "For what?" Asked the Poisen Coven leader in amazement. "For everything." "No problem small one," replied the Construction Coven leader.
