Chapter 01:
Gray clouds lurked over the Kingdom of Emphraim as it fervently released a precipitant - rain, heavy rain to be exact. White lights branched off into the atmosphere with clamorous earth trembling sounds following after.
Silky brown strands stuck to the delicate face of a young sixteen year old girl as she quickly dashed home to prepare her luggage.
After her and Anzor settled into a village where Duke and Duchess Morley couldn't locate them, she would make sure to send her family and friends letters so their heads wouldn't be filled with concerns when it came to her. Then maybe after a few years when this Morley crisis had calmed down and when they knew that it was safe, she and him return to the capital to visit them with a new addition they their family.
Ellen warmly smiled, placing her hand on her stomach. 'I need to hurry up get out of this weather. Chills aren't good for the baby.' She thought.
Finally arriving to the Smith's abode, Ellen opened the door. Her amethyst eyes widened as a metallic nauseating scent hit her.
This scene before her, it couldn't be true! It had to be an hallucination caused by some magic trick. Yes, it had to be a magic trick! Her two older and one younger brothers always loved to tease her and her younger sister.
She dashed over to her mother, lifting her body up and shaking her, "mom, wake up. Come on, you are always the one to tell the boys to stop planning pranks on Ella and me."
Ellen's mother made no move to reply.
Seconds trickled by and Ellen gently rested her mother's body back on the red tinted floorboard.
She went over to her father, "dad, this scene is too serious to be a prank. You're a magic knight. You should arrest your sons for playing with me like this." The brunette joked.
Once again she heard no response and she moved to Ella. Her hand reached out to touch her little sibling, but it stopped midway as hot tears trickled down her cheeks.
Her entire family, they were dead.
They had been murdered....assassinated.
All of them had a thin but deep straight blade wound on the back of their necks.
"Why did they die? Who killed them?" Her voice cracked, sobbing.
The Smith Family was a normal middle class family who were law abiding citizens, who didn't incurred the wrath of anyone.
Thinking about this, Ellen's thought immediately deduced who was behind this. She dashed out her home, ready to head to Morley's Ducal Estate. When Ellen was nearby to the Ducal Estate, a carriage wielding the Morley insignia stopped in front of her and it's door opened.
"Well if it isn't the girl who won the title Miss. Emphraim." The Duchess, Emma Morley stated, "come inside Emphraim's number one beauty. You seem very troubled."
Ellen accepted the Duchess' invitation. Entering and taking a seat, she saw the Duke, Vincent Morley sitting next to his wife in front her.
"Did you do it?" She darkly asked.
"Do what my dear girl?" Questioned the Duchess. "You have to be a little more specific than that."
"Did you kill my family!!!" Ellen bellowed, the mana inside of her body going rampant.
Duchess Emma took a sip of her jaismine tea, placing the cup back onto it's saucer. "My dear girl, you should watch the mana inside your body or you would have an unfortunate miscarriage." She warned.
"Like you care about that! Answer my question!!" Ellen sneered, but she did indeed tried to settle the mana in her body for her child's safety.
"So what if it we did?" Vincent threw this interrogative sentence, harshly looking at the girl before him. "There is no evidence. Besides even if you did accuse the Morley Family, who do you think the King is going to believe? A Duke who has been loyally serving his country or a young girl who's a lowly peasant?"
The Duchess chuckled at this, her opened decorative fan concealing her red lips. "My dear girl, you have been the cause of your family's death, trying to steal my daughter's fiance away from her. Anzor will marry my daughter. How can a commoner like you think you're suited for a gentleman of the Morley Family who we have brought up?"
Anzor Morely was Vincent's nephew and the Duke had brought him up from the branch family when his parents had died, because of his intelligence, strong mana he had decided to raise him to be the perfect husband for his daughter, Tazanna. But who would have thought that with everything that they had done for him, that he would fall in love with a commoner, impregnated her and had plans to elope with her?
"You killed my innocent family just, because Anzor doesn't love your daughter! You two are despicable!" Ellen roared.
"I never did say Anzor didn't love my daughter. And no, the despicable one is you who tried to steal my Tazanna's fiance, you slut! Thank goodness Anzor at the last minute saw you for who you truly are!" The Duchess threatened. "Trust me, I sent men to annihilate the Smith family and I will do the same to all of your commoner friends, if you don't stay away from Anzor! All you're doing is hurting my precious daughter!"
"Oh." It seemed like the Duke recalled something, because of what Emma had said. "It may have been my wife and I who have sent the men to kill your family, but do you know who thought of it? It's that so call nephew of mine who you think is in love with you. There is no way that a talented man like him would ever abandon the status of becoming a Duke, for that of a commoner. For you to think such things, he had told us this plan so you can suffer."
Ellen didn't believe the words that the Duke or Duchess had said. "You're lying!"
"We're not lying my dear girl." The Duchess grew more happier because of Ellen's facial expression, "you two were planning to go to Kuzan Village which is on the outskirts of Emphraim. And that child in your stomach, he said you wanted to give birth to a girl, a girl who could bring about change so he came up with the name Ashnah which means 'change'. And you'll call her Ash for short."
The things Emma Morley had told her, they were things that had privately been discussed by them. Ellen knew it.
Anzor would have never told the Duke and Duchess such if what they said weren't true.
A deep hate for those of the Morley Family grew in Ellen. But she couldn't get vengeance by annihilated them like they have done with her family. As they had stated, they were nobles and she was a peasant. What could she do to them, especially in her current state? Right now all she wanted to do was get of this carriage, born her child and raise her. She didn't need Anzor! "Stop the carriage!"
And the coachman listened.
Ellen Smith exited from the carriage to see that there was a cessation to the rain and traipsed away. 'Morley family even if it is not done by my daughter or me, you will surely get what's coming to you!' After she'll give birth to her child and raised her, she would surely find a to expose their heinous deeds.
The Duke watched as Ellen disappeared out of sight. "She's still carrying Anzor's child."
The Duchess chuckled at that. "Yes, that dear girl is now. But in the next 5-8 hours that child will be gone. I poisoned her. I want that girl to greatly suffer for trying to snatch my daughter's fiance away by losing everything. That is something worse than death."
"You truly are brilliant, Emma."
"Of course I am or I wouldn't be able to call myself Duchess Morley."
