Petra's gold and blue armour was covered in blood. Ivor and Jesse rushed to her.
"Petra? What did you do?" Ivor asked. He took the empty bottle from her hand. "Why did I let you make that potion?"
"Wait. What potion?" Jesse asked.
"I let Petra make a potion, the other night. I didn't know she'd make a harming potion!"
"Petra, why would you make a harming potion?" Jesse knew she couldn't answer. She was coughing up blood.
The two helped her under a tree, and her coughing slowed down. Jesse gave her some water, and she spit it out, when she started coughing, again.
Jesse knew this was the secret. Petra wanted to kill herself, to be with Gil. But it didn't work. And as soon as her head started spinning, she knew she had made the wrong choice.
"I'm sorry..." Petra said, weakly.
"You could've killed yourself."
"I know. And now I regret it." Petra said, quietly. "I almost forgot about Ava."
Jesse sighed. "Don't do that, again. You scared us, so much."
Sweat dripped down Petra's head. So, Jesse took off her helmet.
Petra's hands and sleeves were covered in blood. She tried to stand up, but she fell back down, again.
"Petra, you're gonna hurt yourself." Jesse said.
"I think it's a little too late for that, Jesse." Petra sighed.
Jesse looked back at Ivor. "What do we do, now?" She asked.
"We need to wait. That potion wears off right after you drink it. But the effects is what hurts you. Wait for Petra to get her strength back. Then we can keep moving."
Petra closed her eyes, and tried to rest. What she just did, could've ended hers, and someone else's life.
Jesse let Petra calm down. She's been worried about everything, and everyone. And she's gone without sleeping for four days.
Jesse stood up, and walked up to Lukas, who was sitting on the, still wet, ground.
"How is she?" He asked.
Jesse shrugged. "She drank a potion that almost killed her. But she's doing a little better."
Lukas sighed. "She's just missing Gil. Just give her some space."
Jesse nodded, and sat next to him. She rested her head on his shoulder.
Lukas was worried about Petra. They've always been best friends for years, even before he knew Jesse. He grew close to her, and finally got the courage to ask her out, but she was with Axel, at the time. But she didn't find it that awkward, being that they've been close, for as long as they were. So they continued being friends.
Ivor gave Petra a pink potion.
"Thanks, Ivor." She said, and she drank the potion. She was terrified. She knew what Gil wanted, and he wanted her to stay strong. But she made a bad choice, and only made herself weaker.
The clouds grew darker, and it started raining.
After a while of sitting, and doing nothing, Petra was well enough to start walking.
The group made it to the other side of the mountain.
"What? Where's the temple?" Ivor asked. He looked confused.
Then Olivia looked up, and pointed at a building halfway in the mountain "There!"
"More climbing?" Axel asked.
"Do you want the loot or not?" Ivor asked, angrily.
Axel sighed, and started climbing the mountain, to the temple. The rest of the group did the same.
Half way up, Lukas tapped Petra's shoulder.
"Lukas?" She asked. "What's up?"
'You OK?"
"I'm fine. I know. I was stupid. But I won't do it again. I had nothing left to do with my life. I lost Gil. He was my everything. And now he's gone." Petra sighed, and looked at the ground.
Lukas picked her chin up, so their eyes met. "Promise that never happens again. I can't risk losing my best friend."
Petra nodded, and smiled. And they kept climbing.
When the group made it to the temple, they all sat down, and took a break. There was a large door, in the temple. Jesse opened it, and it revealed a large maze.
"Not another maze." Petra complained.
"I don't mind mazes, as long as they're not like Ivor's maze." Lukas looked at Ivor. "Who makes a maze in the Farlands, and then has a gaping bottomless pit, and a secret passageway in the house that only you've gone into?"
"Better safe than sorry." Ivor said.
Lukas sighed. "Well, better get going as soon as possible. We have no time to lose." He stood back up.
"Lukas's right. We need to hurry. Who knows what's going on, on Earth." Petra said, joining Lukas.
Jesse started walking into the maze, the others followed.
Petra tapped Jesse's shoulder. "Jesse, can I talk to you?"
"Um. Let's split up." Jesse said.
Olivia and Axel went right, Ivor and Lukas walked right, and Jesse and Petra headed down the path in front of them.
I don't know if I should tell her. Petra thought. Well, we are alone. She took a deep breath.
"So, what'd you wanna tell me?" Jesse asked.
Now she had to tell her.
"Well, uh."
Jesse stopped walking, and faced Petra.
"I'm having twins..."
