Why Doesn't She Trust Me...

Petra left yesterday, and Jesse couldn't stop worrying about her. What was she talking about, why was she staying with Aiden? What were they going to do, now that their best fighter was gone, how long was she gonna be gone? So many questions.
Jesse, for some reason, was in the forest. She started walking in what she thought was the direction of the town. Then Lukas appeared out of nowhere. "Lukas?" She said. He walked away. "Wait, Lukas!" Jesse started running after him. "Where're you going?" She kept running, away from town. The trees seemed to grow taller as she ran, deeper into the forest. She kept hearing screams of her friends, from every angle. The screams got louder, and louder, having no idea where they were coming from. They all screamed for help, and called her name. Louder, and louder, until she woke up.
Jesse was on her bed, breathing heavily. Olivia was shaking her shoulder.
"Jesse?" She asked. "You OK?"
Jesse sat up. "Yeah, I'm fine." She got up, from the bed.
"Where's Petra?" Olivia asked.
"She's staying with Aiden, for a while. I still have no idea why."
"She needs it. After losing her boyfriend, and starting a family, it's a lot to take care of." Jesse's eyes widened.
"Why doesn't she tell me, anything?" She yelled.
"You didn't know?"
"No!" Jesse paced around the room, then she stopped. "This explains a few things. But that doesn't explain why she doesn't tell me anything."
Olivia looked at the ground. "She doesn't want you to think about it the wrong way."
"Why would I do that?"
"She knows how you get, and she thought you wouldn't like it."
Jesse sighed. "I wish she could trust me."
Lukas came in the room. "Hey, guys." He said. "So you told her?"
"You knew, too?" Jesse asked.
"Of course. Everyone does."
"Sorry, Jesse." Olivia said, patting Jesse's back. "She didn't want you to get upset."
"Well, she didn't try hard enough. Why doesn't she trust me?"
"It's not that she doesn't trust you, she just doesn't want you to think about it, the wrong way."
Jesse sat on her bed. "You OK?" Lukas asked.
"I don't know." Lukas sat next to her.
"You should go visit her, tomorrow." He said.
"I'll come with you." Olivia said.
"Thanks, guys. But I just need to talk to her, alone." Jesse looked at Olivia, and back to Lukas.
"Alright." Lukas said. He got up, and Olivia helped him out of the room.
After a while, Jesse got up, and walked into town. It was doing a lot better, houses were rebuilt, and things were back to normal.
She took a walk in the forest, for a while, and headed home, when the sun began to set.
When she got there, she saw Ivor help Lukas go downstairs, to his room. She followed them.
"Hey, guys." Jesse said, walking up to them.
"Jesse! Ivor thinks he can help me see, again."
"What?"
"Yes. I've been doing some research, and there is a way to cure blindness!" Ivor said. "I've been trying to make a potion, for him, ever since you two came to see me. And it's almost ready!"
"I can't believe I'm actually gonna- see!" Lukas said.
"I'm not positive it will work, but it might. There is a strong chance it will work." Ivor took a potion from the brewing stand. "It's ready!" Lukas was filled with excitement. His smile grew wider and wider.
Ivor tilted Lukas's head back, and dripped the potion into his eyes.
"Why didn't it work?" Lukas asked.
"You need to let it settle in. By tonight it should work. Just make sure you don't wipe it out. You'll have to wait all over again."
"Ah, Jesse! This is so exciting!" Lukas yelled.
"I know! You're actually gonna see!"
--------------
The sun set, over the horizon. Lukas couldn't sleep. He stayed on the roof, waiting for his vision to return. Ivor's words bounced around, in his mind. It might not work... ...cure blindness... ...see again... He couldn't take it! He was so excited! He soon grew tired, and his eyelids became heavy. And eventually, he fell asleep.
--------------
In the morning, he saw Jesse shaking his shoulders. Wait. He saw her? He looked at his hands, and back at Jesse.
"Jesse, I can see you." He said. His eyes filled with tears. He had forgotten what she looked like. He wasn't expecting her to be this beautiful. "I- I can see you. I can see you!"
"You- you can?"
"Oh, Jesse!" Lukas pulled her into an embrace. He let go, and kissed her lips...
