Lukas's POV

I knelt on one knee as I asked her the question. Tears formed in her eyes. She covered her mouth in shock.

"Oh... My... God..." A tear fell down her face. She nodded. Clever choice. I stood up. She threw her arms around me.

"Yes Lukas! Yes!" She squeezed me. By now, I was used to this.

I hugged her back. This was the start of a new relationship. I remember the song the Ocelots used to tease me with.

First comes love,

Then comes marriage,

Next comes the baby in the baby carriage.

First came love. Which indeed I fell for. Then comes marriage. Which won't come for a while. Then kids. I don't think I'm ready for that yet.

I made a mini check list in my mind.

Love

Marriage

Family

I crossed out love. That was completed as soon as we laid eyes on each other. Next I had my heart set on marriage.

I made my way back to reality, as I heard Jesse sob in joy. She let go of me and wiped off the running mascara from her cheeks.

I picked her up, bridal style, and carried her to our lake. I sat down on the warm sand as Jesse rest her head on my chest.

"Lukas?"

"Yes?"

"Is this real? Am I dreaming?"

"Is this what you dream about?"

"Every night."

"Well, this is going to be a heck of a long dream."

She smiled. "I hope so."

The winds softly blew harder. It made Jesse shiver. I took off my jacket and wrapped it around her shoulders.

"Thanks." She whispered.

I lay down on the warm sand, and watched the sun set over the water, as it did at the end of every day.

"Lukas? Can I ask you something?"

"Anything."

"Why did you fall in love with me? I'm just curious."

"Um. Good question. Well... Your loyalty, friendship, your kindness, you made me feel accepted."

"You just make me feel normal. When I'm around you, I feel like I can be myself." She yawned. "I feel like I don't need to hide anything from you."

"Are you hiding anything?"

"If I was I would tell you. I told you everything, already."

I smiled and kissed her forehead. She smiled and wrapped her arms around my neck. She slowly drifted to sleep. I knew we couldn't stay out here, long. I didn't want to go blind again.

I picked her up, and carried her to the town, through the forest, with the little sunlight I was given.

I opened the door of the temple. Multitasking was easy for me. I put Jesse in her bed, in the second floor. It was hard to resist kissing her. I stepped onto the roof, through her window, and sat next to Petra.

"Hey, Lukas."

"I-I asked Jesse to be my girlfriend!" I blurted out.

"What!? You did!"

"Yes!"

"And what did she say?"

"What do you think she said?"

"I dunno? She's Jesse!"

"She said yes!"

"She said yes?"

"Yes! She said yes!"

"Oh my Notch, Lukas! That's awesome!"

I chuckled. "Notch."

"Don't judge me! But seriously. You actually asked her to be your girlfriend?"

"Why else would I tell you?"

"I dunno. So... I've been thinking..."

"About...?"

"Well..." Petra craned her neck. "I was thinking of leaving."

"Leaving... Leaving where? Like- moving?"

"Yeah... I just don't think I belong here. I mean- Oh Notch I feel loved to death but- it's not where I wanna be..."

"Where do you wanna be?"

"To be honest... Sky City."

"Sky City?"

"Yeah, it's where my heart's been begging for me to go. I feel like I belong there. I felt so welcomed, and I felt... At home. You understand, don't you?"

"Of course. You need to go home. But- visit us, ok?"

"Why wouldn't I? I'd miss it here. I still need to tell everyone."

"I can help you pack?" I offered.

"Thanks. But I need to do something productive for once. All I've been doing is sitting on this roof thinking about life."

"You know, I've been thinking, too. You've changed so much. You used to be this tough, young, energetic, girl. What happened?"

"Well. If you haven't noticed, I'm having twins."

"No, really? Have you thought of names?"

"Ava and Erin, I've also been thinking, they're the last of Gill's bloodline. If they die, that's the end of his family..."
