Chapter 6

This took two weeks. I was gonna update earlier but I didn't. I actually don't have an actual excuse either besides being lazy and unmotivated so I feel kinda bad about taking ages. I'm working on improving with that. And as usual, chapter isn't edited. I have really mixed feelings about this chapter. I like hate/love it.

"I love you." The blonde could barely believe his ears. Someone loved him? Thomas loved him? The very thought of it made his chest ache with want and he looked anywhere to find the boy who had uttered those words. But he couldn't find him. No matter how often he turned and glanced in all directions, he couldn't find Thomas.

"I love you more." The brown eyed boy he so desperately craved was suddenly right there in front of him, and he needed to hold him. Reaching out to the other who only gave a smile in return.

"Not possible." Newt laughed. His words were sweet even though he disagreed. To him it was possible to love Thomas more than vice versa because Newt simply wasn't loved. It had been proven countless times by people he'd come across his life time.

"Yes, possible. Now kiss me." And Thomas did. He reached for his lovers small waist and pulled him as close as he could. It never felt close enough to either of them, but it would have to do as Newt wrapped his arms around the others neck in response. They were so caught up in each other that neither of them noticed that they were both slowly fading away.

And that's when Newt woke up.

The shrilling sound of his alarm brought him out of whatever state of mind he'd been in when he'd dreamt the previous, and he was left with a mass of confusion. Having dreams about Thomas kissing him wasn't unusual. He'd had those since the other had first called him beautiful two weeks ago. The thing that left him confused was why he couldn't find Thomas at first. Only when he'd said I love you, had the other decided to make an appearance.

In his dreams, neither had said I love you until now, and neither had disappeared while they were kissing. Newt subconsciously traced his chapped lips with his fingers, as if Thomas really had claimed them as his own a couple of moments ago. Except he hadn't. And every damn morning, Newt would wake up confused as to why it all felt so real and why it kept coming back.

He dragged himself to the bathroom to take a shower before getting dressed and walking out the front door. He sat on the steps and waited for Thomas to arrive with his Jeep like every morning, and just a few minutes later, he did.

Newt stood up and walked towards the boy who was just getting out of the car and walking to the passengers side, holding the door.

"Aren't you sweet?" Thomas chuckled and looked up at Newt, who suddenly stood there as if he'd been paralyzed. He could feel his heartbeat increase again and he had no idea on how to respond to something so strange to him. He hated the feeling of not knowing something. It made him feel weak when he wasn't in control of his own emotions or feelings. He wanted control over what he was feeling, but just one look at Thomas threw every sort of self control he had over his emotions, out the window and replaced itself with new ones that he wasn't aware of.

"Newt?" And that's when Newt's self control came back. Well, for the most part. His heart was still beating in his chest at a furious pace that would have any doctor worry, and he suddenly wanted, more like needed, Thomas to be closer. And that's where the control over himself came back. He walked closer to the other because it's what he suddenly needed, but then he still didn't utter a word.

"Are you okay? You've been staring at me for five minutes." Newt didn't know where the sudden confidence came from because he didn't actually have any, but suddenly he said something that left both of them shocked.

"Have you always been this attractive?" Both of them blushed, and Newt quickly hopped inside the vehicle and shut the door while Thomas walked around and stepped in the car.

"To answer your question, yes, I totally have been this attractive all my life."

"Really?" Thomas laughed.

"No." Newt shrunk back in his seat, suddenly full on aware of what he'd said and beyond embarrassed.

"I'm sorry for ever mentioning anything about the way you look."

"Don't be. I like that you find me attractive. Gives me more of a chance with you wouldn't you say?" Newt didn't know if he should've been taking Thomas seriously or if the other was merely joking.

"Are you joking?" Thomas glanced over at Newt and gave him a smile that made him feel weird and warm. So, Newt looked away.

"I don't know. Am I?"

"That's not a bloody answer Tommy and you know it." Thomas stopped the car when they arrived outside school and laughed again.

"Let's put it this way, if I wanted you, would you let me have you?" Thomas' words didn't come as a shock to Newt, he'd said strange things like this before. He assumed that Thomas was hinting that he might be interested in him, but then he'd always laugh and think that that was beyond ridiculous and unrealistic. Normally, Newt wouldn't respond to those things that were said by the other, but he felt like if Thomas could be so forward and blunt, so could he.

"I'm practically waiting for you to take me." Thomas looked at him wide eyed, but Newt simply smirked and walked into school, more confident then he'd ever been walking through those doors. However, it was quickly interrupted by Thomas scrambling to catch up to him and giving him a look of pure disbelief.

"W-what did you say?" Newt decided to play stupid and just gave Thomas a look.

"What? I didn't say anything." He caught up to his locker and gave the combination while Thomas leaned against the one besides them.

"You clearly implied that if I wanted to have you then I could take you." Newt raised his eyebrows in question as he got out his required supplies for his first class.

"Depends."

"On what?" Newt shut his locker with a smirk, suddenly loving the confidence that had appeared out of nowhere. He leaned close to Thomas, and he could feel the other boy hold his breath at the close proximity of their faces.

"It depends on what way you're taking me." And he walked away without another word, leaving the other simply baffled and unaware of what to say.

The confidence soon faded throughout the day though, and more and more of Newt's insecurities came back while he was stuck at the back of the class, scribbling in his notebook.

Did Thomas hate him now? Did he go too far? Did he really want Thomas so badly? The answer was yes to all three of those questions. There was no way that Thomas liked him now. Newt groaned and laid his head on the desk. He didn't get it. Why did he have to come across as such a stereotypical teenager begging for another? It's not like he needed Thomas, but it almost came across that way, and Newt didn't like that. He never relied on others and yet here he was, wanting Thomas. He wanted Thomas to be there for him whenever he needed him, he wanted Thomas to hear him out on every little mistake he's felt that he's made in his life. He wanted Thomas to maybe not understand, but to support Newt anyway. Newt was slowly crumbling into pieces when Thomas walked into his life and there was nothing he could do about it. He wasn't in control when it came to anything related to the other boy. And Newt had never felt so vulnerable in his life.

All of Newt's classes were over today, but it had become a regular routine for him to wait an hour longer after school so that Thomas could drive him home. The other would play lacrosse on the field alone while Newt would watch holding a firm grip on his cigarette. Thomas didn't know Newt's reason for smoking because he'd never asked. However, Newt could tell that Thomas didn't like it, as he'd always give the other this look when he lit the end of it.

So now he was sitting on the grass watching Thomas play and he was somehow relaxed. It was rare, but watching Thomas play made him almost feel normal. And he definitely didn't mind watching the other do warm ups and run. Of course, it'd all be over at some point, and Thomas would take Newt's cigarette out of his mouth (unless it was already gone) and drag him to the locker rooms. That's where they were now.

"I'm gonna take a shower. You wait here for me, okay?" Newt nodded. It's not like he had any other option. Sure, he could wait in the car, but it's a five minute walk and he'd rather spend those five minutes with Thomas. So, he waited.

He sat with his legs crossed together while he glanced down at his phone and shuffled through his music. He eventually gave up when he couldn't find a good song, and instead he listened to the water falling onto the tiled floor where Thomas was showering a bit further away.

Newt ended up in such a trance that he hadn't realized that Thomas had turned the water off and was now standing in front of him with just a towel loosely hugging his waist.

"Newt, you're leaning against my locker. Kinda need to get there." Newt snapped out of it, only to be brought back into another trance when he saw the minimal amount of clothing Thomas wore.

"S-sorry." He blushed and bit his lip whilst Thomas only chuckled. That bastard.

"Is there something catching your attention?" Newt glared, but the other just displayed a proud smirk.

"Want me to show you more?" Newt had never felt his face heat up so much before. He definitely liked what he was seeing, but more? No. He thought it was good the way it was.

"I'd rather not Tommy." Thomas gave Newt a sincere smile before placing his hands around Newt, moving him slightly to the side so that he could access his stuff.

"Can you please put some clothes on?" Newt attempted to look away, but the others toned muscles always drew him in like a magnet.

"I'm working on that. Why? Is it distracting you?" The blonde bit his lip and looked off to the side.

"I'll just take your car keys and meet you out in the parking lot." Thomas laughed and handed them over.

"Alright. I'll meet you outside cause I know that I'm too much for you. Although to be fair, if you've seen me in only a towel, don't you think I should see you in just one?" Newt scoffed.

"And what makes you think I'd give you that sort of satisfaction?"

"Right now, you wouldn't, but trust me, soon you'll be doing it willingly."

"What bloody game are you playing with me?" Thomas looked up from his duffel bag that he was rummaging through, and glanced at the other.

"I'm playing a game that I'll win."

"So you're setting me up to lose?" The brunette shook his head furiously.

"No, you'll still win in a way. Except I'll be in control."

"I'm not the submissive type you know?"

"Never thought you were." Newt shook his head and walked out to the car, sitting up on the hood and waiting for Thomas to appear a little later.

About ten minutes later, Newt saw Thomas appear.

"Took you long enough." Newt jumped off the hood just as Thomas put his things in the car.

"I like to take my time to look this good. Just for you of course." He winked at the blonde, who stared at the other in utter disbelief.

"Really? Where's the effort?"

"Ouch. Hurtful." Newt smiled and got in the car like the other.

"You love me anyway." Thomas started the car and drove away from school, towards Newt's home.

"Yea, that's true."

Except neither Newt nor Thomas realized how true it really was.
