"I've thought about it.. I just don't want to get work in the way.."
"2 England clam chowders, with water beverages, for the two ladies", Aaron was now serving our food.

We were eating out food for about 20 minutes or so, and it was just completely silent.. Neither of us talked, except for the people around us, of course. I felt like they were talking, just to cover up our silence.

"Would you like your check?" Aaron was back at our table.
"Yes, please", my mother replied. She looked like she said yes, because she wanted to talk somewhere else, in a private area. She didn't even look at him, she just picked at her leftover food.

We were heading out of the restaurant, toward an alley.

"So.. Do you want some hot chocolate?" My mother seemed nervous to talk to me. Of course, I wanted hot chocolate, but this wasn't the important part right now.
"I'm fine--" It was time to actually talk, before the day was over. "Can we just talk.. Please?"
"Look, I really want to adopt you. I was totally not prepared, when I was in college. But no matter how hard I worked to actually be prepared, to have a great career, and have a life with you, nobody took me seriously, and my life was always rejected. I'm here now, because I realized that I should just give up, and just start a small job, to at least have some experience to know what it's like to adopt you."
"Hear me out... Your sister was an amazing guardian... I'm not just saying this, but you guys were related.. You were sisters. If she could take care of me, you could too. Seriously. You worked hard just to get here. I think you're ready, for once." I wanted to at least get my mother motivated a little.
"I'll really think it about then, while we're watching a movie." My mother really likes blocking out people, doesn't she? At least she'll think about it.

We were looking at the clocks at the movie theater. There was only one movie available, and actually had space. It was about a girl who questioned life, wondered if this was her life, being lonely, and goes on a life journey all over the world, to find a place with true happiness. I know, it sounds like my life. I didn't really care about the movie itself, just the buttered popcorn.

5:00 PM
"That movie was amazing!", obviously, that was my mother. She's been wanting to shut me out all day... Nope! 12 years!
"Can we just--"
"Get hot chocolate? Of course! Let's go!"
"No! I want to--"
"Go to the fireplace, at the library?" Actually, that sounded nice - the fireplace, not the books! Ew!
"NO! I just want to actually talk! This is probably going to be the very last time I'll ever see you! You've been stalling all day. Wait.. No! 12 YEARS! We haven't talked about you adopting me or not! I understood that you weren't ready! EVERYBODY who watched the news knows that! Please say something about the adoption! UGH! I feel like a dog or cat that you get at a pet shelter! Why do dogs, cats, and humans have the same word, when they get adopted?"
"Look. I lied to you. I have found a boyfriend. I was too afraid to talk to you about it, because I know that you've mad at me for a while now", my mother said in a low voice.
That was my last memory, before I blacked out.....
