Douglas never left. He spent three weeks in Mary Ann's little beach house. After the first week they created a nightly routine where they would walk down to the beach with a picnic basket and they created sand castles and searched for crabs and played and kissed in the water.
And one night they laid on their blanket with her head on his chest looking up at the sky.
"Do you ever hate how the night seems absolutely perfect and then you get sand in your eyes?" She giggled at her words, but he was silent which didn't happen often. "Are you okay baby?" She sat up and straddled him and wiped the sand out of her eyes.
He stared at her with a small smirk on his face. "Oh I'm absolutely okay in fact I am beyond okay. I'm just thinking my dear." He softly rubbed her thighs and gently squeezed her butt.
She giggled and ran her fingers through his hair. "What's on your mind?"
"I think I feel something for you Mary Ann something that I've never felt before. Honestly something I believe nobody I've ever met has felt before."
She ran her thumb across his lip and slid her hand down his body. "Might it be love?"
He propped up on his elbows and studied her. The wind blew softly and the moon shone so in his eyes she had a stunning glow. She looked soft and she quite felt that way too. He softly cupped her face and kissed her.
All of their kisses were those of passion and true love but this kiss. This. Kiss. Said every i love you. Every you're my soulmate. This kiss said words that could never truly be said.

Douglas took a walk on the beach by himself while Mary Ann was at the store.
"Brother!" The water called to him. He dug a shallo hole and poured some of the ocean water into it and Alexander's face appeared.
Douglas smiled widely. It was becoming a sturuggle not being able to see his family as often.
"Hello brother. How has it been learning about the humans?"
Douglas sighed happily and Alexander could see the strike of love in his eyes.
"I've met this one Alexander. Her name is Mary Ann from a moving picture. They call it a T.V. show."
"Oh I've heard of these moving pictures. Some of the people are treated like royalty."
Douglas nodded, his eyes filled with more excitement than Alexander had ever seen.
"How are things back home? How is father and Terrence?"
Alexander ran his fingers through his oil black hair. "Father is getting impatient. He says he understands why you wanted to go to the land before your coronation but he doesn't understand why you wish to take so long out there. I know you want us to make peace with the humans but Douglas not all of them might be as good as your dear Mary Ann."
Douglas felt himself blush at his words.
Your dear Mary Ann
"Alexander I don't want to return home. Mary Ann is my home now. I miss you and Terrence and father and our people our kingdom but Alexander I can't find it in me to leave her."
Alexander smiles at his love stricken brother. "You don't need to then brother. If the land is where you're happiest I'll tell father and Terrence. Expect us to come meet you and this Mary Ann though." Alexander chuckled at Douglas.
Douglas relaxed his shoulders knowing Alexander approved. It meant the world to him knowing he wasn't letting his family down.
"I'll try to make a visit tonight while Mary Ann is asleep. I have so much more to tell you but I think she's going to be home soon."
"Of course brother." And with that Alexander disappeared from the hole in the sand and Douglas made his way back up to the house.
