Chapter 4: A Day We Met, Again.!

The library was quieter than I expected. Rows of shelves stretched endlessly, each one holding a thousand secrets I’d never have time to uncover. The faint smell of old paper and wood polish hung in the air, grounding me. I wandered to the far end, near the large
window overlooking the courtyard.
That’s when I saw him. He was sitting alone at a table, his back partially turned, head bent over a book. The light from the storm-clouded sky spilled through the window, catching strands of his dark hair and the sharp line of his jaw. I didn’t mean to stare, but something about him stopped me. As if sensing it, he looked up.

Our eyes met.

It was like the world had tilted slightly off its axis. My heart stuttered, and for a split second, I forgot how to breathe. His eyes weren’t just dark; they were the kind of dark that pulled you in, like deep water you couldn’t resist stepping into, no matter how cold
or dangerous.
The storm outside roared suddenly, the rain pelting against the glass, but I barely heard it. Its thundering. Its felt like the nature was against us. All I could hear was the deafening sound of my own heartbeat, thundering in my chest like a warning or maybe an invitation.

He didn’t look away.

Neither did I.

There was something unspoken in the space between us, something I didn’t understand but couldn’t deny. It was like he was searching for something in me, something I didn’t even know I had.
And then, just as quickly as it began, he blinked and looked down at his book again. The connection snapped like a thread pulled too tight. I exhaled shakily, realizing I’d been holding my breath. My cheeks burned, though I wasn’t sure why.

Who was he?

Why did it feel like he’d just looked straight through me?
I forced myself to move, to turn away and walk toward the nearest shelf, pretending to browse. But I could still feel him, like his gaze had left a mark on me. As I reached for a book I wasn’t even looking at, I chanced a glance back. He was reading the book. Then, I held Celia's hand and asked "who is he?" Pointing my eyebrows towards him. Her eyes widen and surprisingly she replied "Wait, that Lucian? The one who always looks like he’s brooding in a corner?"

I felt like I'd heard that strange name before in my dreams or somewhere "Lucian. You make him sound so unapproachable."
Celia began "He is unapproachable. Trust me, I’ve tried." I didn't know what she talking about "Tried what?" She took a deep breath than exhales it and replied "Getting him to talk. It’s like talking to a brick wall. A very good-looking brick wall, but still." I was confused than i said "Or Maybe he’s just shy." She added "Or maybe he’s hiding something."

I added  "Like what?" She strangely replied "Oh, I don’t know. A tragic past? Secret vampire tendencies? The usual."
"You’re impossible." I chuckled. I blink for a sec and look at him again but He was gone.

The chair was empty, the book he’d been reading left open on the table. I stepped closer, heart still racing, and saw the title. "The Supernatural Diaries."

Fitting.

I pressed my hand against my chest, trying to calm the storm inside me, but it was no use. Whatever had just happened, I knew one thing for sure.

I wasn’t going to forget him. Then, Celia by having a novel in her hand "beauty and the beast" come in front of me and said "So, newly friend we going out, tonight." I was shocked we just met and she asked me about going out. Is was really strange for me. Not she asked but I'd never gone out, never. I'm just introverted girl who knows her limits.

“Come on, Elena! You can’t keep hiding in that bubble of yours. One night out won’t kill you, be extroverted, girl.” Celia begged, sitting cross-legged on my chear.

“I’m not hiding,” I muttered, folding another piece of laundry. “I just don’t think a nightclub is my thing.”

She added "its not my thing too..but I wanna look perfect and enjoy. I've never been before but I've you so we can go."

I denied.

Celia groaned dramatically, flopping backward like her life depended on this. “It’s Friday! After a lot of taunts my father gimme permission after a year. Please understand me. And What else are you going to do? Knit a scarf? Watch a documentary on whales? Please, live a little!”
I turned to her, hands on her hips. For Celia I'd to accept her proposal but “I don’t have anything to wear. And before you
suggest it, no, I’m not borrowing one of your... tiny dresses.”

She grinned like she’d already won. “You won’t have to. Trust me. Ask Aunt Remenise about dresses she will definitely helped you". We left.

It was 3 PM, and the sun hung lazily in the sky, casting a soft golden glow over the empty road ahead. The wind brushed against my face as I rode my bike, its hum the only sound in the stillness. I wasn’t in a hurry—just heading home after a long day. My thoughts wandered, tugging me in two directions.

"Maybe I should go to the club tonight," I muttered to myself, a faint smile tugging at my lips. "Open myself up a bit... try to be normal for once."

But then the idea of sitting at home with a book, wrapped in silence, felt so much safer. I sighed. “Home it is, I guess,” I said aloud, shaking my head. The introvert in me always seemed to win these battles.

The road dipped slightly, leading to a stretch near the woods. I’d always liked this part of the ride—the trees were so tall and ancient, their branches weaving together like a protective canopy. But today, something felt... off. The usual bird songs were gone, replaced by an unsettling silence. Even the wind seemed to hold its breath.

My bike wobbled slightly as I slowed down. "Weird," I whispered, glancing around.

And then I saw it.

Just off the road, near the edge of the woods, a figure lay crumpled on the ground. A man. My breath caught in my throat, and I instinctively hit the brakes, my bike skidding to a stop.

For a moment, I couldn’t move. My hands gripped the handlebars tightly as my heart pounded in my chest. Something about the scene made my skin crawl. His body was twisted unnaturally, and there was blood—so much blood.

I stepped off the bike cautiously, my legs trembling. "Hey!" I called out, my voice shaky. "Are you... are you okay?"

He didn’t move.

The closer I got, the worse it became. The wounds on his body were... wrong. They were deep and jagged, like something had torn into him, but it wasn’t just that. There was an odd precision to the damage, as if it was deliberate—calculated.

I covered my mouth, fighting back the urge to scream. "What the hell..." I whispered.

And then I heard it.

A low growl.

My head snapped up, my eyes darting to the shadows of the woods. For a second, I thought I saw something—two glints of light, like eyes reflecting the sun. They disappeared as quickly as they appeared, leaving me frozen in place.

The air felt heavier now, pressing down on me. My instincts screamed at me to run, but my legs refused to move. My breath came in short gasps as I scanned the trees, half-expecting something to lunge at me.

A rustle in the bushes snapped me out of my paralysis. I stumbled backward, tripping over my own feet. "Nope. Nope. Not today," I muttered, scrambling back to my bike. My fingers fumbled with the handlebars as I climbed on and pedaled as fast as I could.

The road blurred beneath me, my mind racing even faster. What the hell had I just seen? Was it an animal? A person? Something else?

By the time I reached home, my hands were still shaking. I leaned my bike against the wall and stumbled inside, slamming the door behind me. My back pressed against it as I slid to the floor, my chest heaving.

I couldn’t shake the feeling that whatever had happened in those woods... it wasn’t over. There are killers in Edinburgh, they are haunting peoples, should I go to club or not? What if next will be me? I cant tell aunt Remenise cause she won't believe on me and as usual gimme answers in jumbles. I took a bath and searching for a dress from my wardrobe, there isnt any informal dress, all are formal and weird. I got frasturated and took a nap.

The sun had broken through by noon, warming the small kitchen where I sat peeling apples for a pie. Aunt Remenise stood by the counter, kneading dough with her weathered hands.

“You should go out tonight, Elena,” aunt said suddenly, breaking the peaceful silence.

I looked up, confused. “Out? Where?”

Remenise wiped her hands on her apron, her sharp eyes softening. “Celia mentioned a club, didn’t she? Go with her. Make friends. Enjoy yourself.”

I was really shocked that how she knows about it. "How do you know?" She replied in weird way as usual "I know everything."

I frowned, shaking my head. “I’m not sure it’s my thing, Aunt Remenise.”

Aunt chuckled, brushing back a loose strand of graying hair. “You’re young. When I was your age, I didn’t have the chance to go to clubs or parties. Too much work at home. But you—” she paused, her gaze softening further— “you should live a little. You’re always so serious.”

I sighed, setting the knife down. “I don’t know. I don’t even like boys. I don’t think I’ve ever liked anyone, really.”

Aunt Remenise raised an eyebrow her lips smirked as she look me with flirty eyes she teased me by saying "You dont like boys. Do you? Are you..Lessb"

I knew what she was gonna saying I cut her in mid by laughing "No..No Eww. I..I was just saying that there is no one who can love me forever."

Aunt Remenise raised an eyebrow, again. “There are many boys in Edinburgh?”

I shrugged, my voice quiet. “I don’t think the kind of boy I’d like exists. I want a finctional boy with cheesy jawline, tall height, Adam's apple and deep voice.”

"You can find him at only one place..! She added.
I was shocked and my eyes were widen I asked "where?:
She replied "in books, they just existed there."
Oh please aunt Remenise. I said brushing my hair.

Aunt Remenise smiles  knowingly. “Maybe you’re just waiting for the right one to show up. But you’ll never know unless you step out of your bubble.”

Her words touch my heart and I finally decided to go to club. She gave me her informal dress, a black lace dress.

The sky turned a warm orange as the sun dipped lower, painting the horizon with streaks of pink and purple. An hour later, I was staring at myself in the mirror, feeling a little ridiculous. I was wearing a short black dress with lace sleeves that hugged me just enough to feel a little out of my comfort zone. Celia, wearing a little frock which isn't suiting on her pony tail.

“You look hot,” Celia declared, adjusting her dark lipstick. “If you don’t find someone to dance with tonight, I will.”

Without wasting our time we left to club by my bike.
By the time we arrived, the forest roads were shrouded in darkness. The mist had returned, swirling eerily in the glow of the bike’s headlights. The air was colder now, and I zipped my jacket tightly as we approached the nightclub.

The building was sleek and modern, a box of black glass glowing with pulsing neon lights. The sign above the door read Eclipse, its silver lettering sharp against the dark facade.
Inside, it was a whirlwind of sound and motion. Strobe lights bounced off the sleek black walls, and the air smelled of perfume, sweat, and alcohol. The bar glistened under purple LED lights, while the dance floor was a writhing sea of bodies moving to the beat of a bass-heavy track.

I followed Celia, clutching my small purse nervously. I feel like I should’ve stayed home when I saw the couples kissing each other, some are gays and some are straights. A girl cuming her boyfriends dick, without thinking everyones looking at them. Two girls dancing, both holding each others boobs and a boy behind her teasing her vagina. I felt like one they who are enjoying and other hand I'm virgin. The two figures a boy and a girl standing on floor, singing dancing. They were naked, fully naked and the girls pussy is bold, smooth. And the boy, he is masculine, sexy and have a larged dick which is in energy. Celia left me alone by saying You’ll thank me later,” her shoulder, already swaying to the music.

While dancing I noticed a boy, a boy among girls and cutting their veins from neck. I was goosebumps and feeling faint. Than I looked with narrow eyes I saw his eyes were red as Id seen in accidents. I get closer to him and hold his hand I asked what the hell are you doing with then? His body were cold as ice. I noticed than he held my elbow and opened his mouth. For the first time in my whole life I saw this extraordinary things. His teeth were sharp as otherworldly. Filled with blood. Than, lucian came and push that  unnatural boy. He held my hand and stand ahead of me. He was not scared and punch on that hell boy. The beast boys face bleeding and I heard a sound like.. when you punch on ice and ice get break with breaking voice. It was really unnatural and he came closer to me.

He looked inside my eyes, he said "forget everything you seen here." It was weird I dont know wht he was thinking I just replied "I won't." He looked me strangely and leave my hand, left in anger. Like I said something  wrong to him that he showing his so called anger to me.
