Ch.21 Disastrous Thoughts
"And here we are Izumi, welcome to Musutafu, the place mommy grew up."
Looking around, Izumi wasn't all to excited, yet still curious as this place was different, maybe, just maybe she could actually make some friends here.
Back home, the only kids her age were all snobby and mean, they never shared and only wanted what she had once she had picked up a toy.
The only bright side to the move was that Samantha came with them.
-----
'What is wrong with these people?' A certain angel thought as she watched Inko literally walk off with a map she pulled up on her phone to find their apartment.
Walking up to Izumi, she smiled down at her warmly, the child raised her hand, and Samantha held the hand in her own, giving a slight grip in assurance.
"Hey, it's gonna be ok, k?" She asked as she wrapped her wing around the small child as they walked, attempting to follow the "mother".
Izumi giggled as the off white wings tickled her face, the warm feathers allowing some sunlight to shine through like rays of joy.
One might find it strange to see a stranger acting more motherly then the actual mother of the child, yet over the years the young angel had been tasked with taking care and nurturing the child.
To the child, her knowledge of the words, "mother", and "caretaker", were different, mother was caretaker, and caretaker was mother, confusing, sure, but this was a child that didn't exactly have "normal" parents.
Making their way out of the station, Samantha had pulled up the address of the apartment that the Midorya's had purchased. On their way, the young girl was at least semi-excited to be in a new place, but only because her angel was there for her
On their journey to the new home, they walked past one of those television stores that have a bunch of TV's displaying the news, and it just so happened that the Telly's were playing a repeat of a young boys debut, although, the only thing that came to the angels mind was that this was what Izumi was talking about. The young girl had seen her mother making a strange face at the TV, and wondered why she was looking at the boy like that.
Regardless, the two continued down the streets, until they made their way to the more residential areas of Musutafu. For discretion, Inko had decided to get a smaller, more comfy living space, someplace no one would really expect a hero such as herself to live, though, she did kinda like the short distance from everything, since everything in the house was relatively nearby.
As the two opened the door, they both were aghast to see boxes everywhere.
I'm Inko's attempt to stay "well hidden", she hadn't asked the movers to unpack, and just so happened to forget to tell Samantha, but, there was a note.
Stepping into the apartment and walking over to one of the boxes that had a bright yellow sticky note, she picked it up.
"Hey, it's Inko, can you go ahead and unpack everything, I would've told the movers to do so, but discretion is key, so while you do that, I'm going to go finalize some of the bills, etc. that I have to do getting ready for the school, if you could be done when I get back I would really appreciate it."
-Inko
'This bitch really had the time to beat us here, write this long ass letter, and tell me to do the job of the four movers, and then to finish before she gets back, and did she really just say her name twice, the utter gall of this woman' Samantha fumed silently while crumpling the note in her hand.
She was about to throw it at the wall, but relented, her arm and wings sagging down, sighing, she just put the crumpled but in her pocket, just until they could find the trashcan.
"Hey Izumi, do you wanna see who can finish unboxing the fastest?" She said to the child as she turned around back to the living room.
Izumi, currently gazing out the window at the new city, turned around excitedly at the thought of spending more time with her caretaker.
Upon seeing Izumis face light up, Samantha could already feel her spirits lighten up, her frustration at Inko fading.
Samantha smiled and rolled up her sleeves in a go get em attitude and clapped her hands.
"This might take a while, so Izumi, let's get to work." She said in a competitive manner.
And work, the two did indeed.

"Very well, it seems though all the paperwork is finished and put into the system, though, this is your first year, so for now you'll be a teacher's assistant for class 1-B, as the position for the 1-A teacher's assistant had already been filled. Welcome to UA University Teli-Maiden." A white rat bear dog spoke to one Inko Midorya.
"Thank you very much Nezu, I'll do my best." Inko trained to Nezu whilst standing up out of the chair and grabbing her things before making her way out of the office.
Stepping out of the door she almost walked headfirst into what looked like a walking skeleton in an oversized yellow pinstripe suit.
"Oh sorry, I didn't see you there." The green hair woman said after baking up slightly.
"No, no, I should've been paying a little more attention, I was thinking in my head a little too hard." The bony man said ruffling his strangely large golden head of hair.
Upon opening his eyes, and getting a clear look of the woman, something ticked at the back of his head, "Sorry, where are my manners, the names Toshinori Yagi."
"Inko Midorya, nice to meet you, but if you'll excuse me, I really do need to get back to my apartment, I just moved in and need to unpack."
"Well sorry to keep you, see you then." Toshinori said, stepping away and entering the office.
"Have you finally finished that paperwork Yagi, it's only been several weeks" Nezu questioned, not looking up from his desk.
Yagi stiffened, a bead of rolling down his face, "Oh, Y-Yeah, it's ready I just umm... Forgot to bring it with me, that's all" the blond spoke, trembling with fear.
"Oh?" Nezu spoke, not turning away his view of the large windows in his office. The temperature seeming to get colder, yet despite the coldness, Yagi was still sweating.
Yagi swallowed, his mouth dry, "Yes s-sir, I'll make sure to bring the paperwork fir-first thing tomorrow sir"
"See that you do, mister number one hero, see that you do" Nezu grinned.
With a speed that only the symbol of peace could achieve, Toshinori practically teleported out of the utter hell scape that was Nezu's office"
Once the door closed Nezu cackled, the sound reverberating throughout the university, scaring the piss out of students and teachers alike.
Somewhere, hidden in one of the schools many secret spots, a certain teacher shot straight out of their sleeping bag and straight into fighting position, capture scarf pulled taut in their shaking hands.
The man only uttered two words.
"Damnit Nezu"

"When will Inko be back?"
The winged woman looked up from her book, glancing at the child, slightly surprised from her use of her mother's first name instead of just mom.
"Well, you know how heroes are always kinda busy, she probably got held up by something, or it might just be a long meeting, enough of that though, are you hungry?" Samantha asked ruffling the little girls forest green hair.
"A little bit, I'm really thirsty." Izumi said shyly.
Samantha knew why she was feeling shy just asking for something as simple as water and it was honestly disgusting.
"Izumi, I'm not Inko, you can ask me anything, and if you need something you can always let me know, please, I'm here for you, and I won't be leaving any time soon" The angel spoke softly, gently rubbing her head.
The effect was immediate, Izumi swiftly leaped up at her caretaker, gripping tightly. Both were tearing up for different reasons, Izumi was just happy and relieved, while Samantha was feeling righteous indignation and frustrating at Inko and that poor excuse of a father.
The two just stayed where they were, rocking back and forth from the living room floor.
Izumi yawned, still holding onto the arms of her caretaker, her grip slipping.
Samantha smiled at this, it's been a long day, and while it was a little early to go to bed, a little nap should be fine. Getting up, she held the child in her arms, taking her to her room.
Opening a door while holding a small child was a tricky endeavor, but it wasn't impossible. Stepping into the room revealed a rather bare bones room, lacking in the decoration department, though there were quite a few drawings of a certain angel on the small desk.
Setting the girl down into the mattress, she tried letting go, but when a child doesn't want to let go of something, good luck. The unconscious action tugged at her heartstrings, a faint dream of motherhood dancing in the back of her mind somewhere.
She finally escaped the death grips of Izumi and pulled the cover up over the little one.
Samantha stepped out for a moment to grab a water bottle from the fridge and set it on the nightstand next to the bed, twisting open the lid so she could break the seal and closing it again so Izumi could open it when she wanted.
While Izumi lay, she shifted slightly. Samantha leaned down and placed a gentle kiss to the girls forehead, before walking out of the room and quietly closing the door.
Walking down the hallway her body started shaking, feathers ruffling, she backed against a wall and skid down to the floor, shaky hands on her face, ruffled wings shielding her, breaths uneven.
"W-what am I d-doing, she's not my child, why am I acting like she is" glowing tears rolled down her face, the bright white beads softly lighting the hallway.
While trying to control her emotions and trying to not freak out about the thought of Izumi being her daughter and being a family, she heard some keys jingling faintly before making contact with the front doors lock.
Quickly getting up she made her way to the bathroom to wipe her glowing tears away before Inko would see acting and ask questions, she realized she couldn't do anything about her slightly red and puffy eyes.
Thinking fast she had her plan, she sprinted to the fridge to grab a water and opening the drink she downed some of it before splashing a small amount on the floor and kitchen counter, and knocking her hand on the counter to make a noise.
The door opened and Inko stepped in to see Samantha in the kitchen, rubbing her eyes.
"What happened?" Inko asked confused, having heard a single knock sound, taking off her shoes and removing her coat to hang up from the wall.
The angel stilled and turned to Inko.
"Oh, sorry, I didn't hear you come in, I was just getting a water but I'm not used to this layout yet and ended up closing the fridge on my wing." She spoke.
"Why is your face red and eyes puffy?" She asked slightly suspicious.
'Wow, fucking paranoid much' the winged woman thought.
"Well it was really embarrassing, and my eyes are red because when I freaked out for a second, I pulled my wing out from the fridge too fast and ended up getting feathers in my eyes" she said shyly, trying to play up the embarrassment.
"Wow, you're right, that is embarrassing" Inko said snickering slightly at the scene before her, going over to the counter.
'Asshole' The angel refrained from making a face at that.
Upon seeing the mess of water on the floor and counter, Inko became slightly agitated.
"We just moved into this place, it would be nice if you didn't make a mess of it, so clean up after yourself." Inko spoke condescendingly.
Inko leaned into her face, "Remember, this isn't your house, m'kay, great"
Samantha tensed in fear."Uh, of course, sorry about that, I'll make sure to not let it happen again" Samantha remained under Inko's scrutiny for a little longer, before she grabbed a rag she spotted by the sink.
Turning back to Samantha, she thrust the rag into her chest. Smiling, Inko went off to get room to unpack the rest of her paperwork.
As Samantha stand in the kitchen, clutching the rag to her chest, she shook with anger as she tried to compartmentalize her emotions.
*Sigh
'Now isn't the time to be mad, I've got work to do' Samantha went over to stay wiping the water dry, the feathers on her wings calming.
Walking over to the window, she was looking out at the city, it was late in the evening, the suns light dancing among the rooftops. The sky was beginning to turn to a lovely orange hue.
'Tomorrow is another day'
