Chapter 9
STEALING FIRE
Beth sat on Helios from behind a tree, watching as Octavia talked to her brother. He had told O to come alone, but there was no way Beth was gonna let Octavia come alone. Not if it was a trap. Not if Lincoln and Kai's lives were at stake. She was still upset over Lexa's death. She had thought the only way the Commander would have ever died would be from a battle, not a stray bullet from the flamekeeper.
"Glad you came. I'm alone, O. I'm here to help." Bellamy says to his sister as Beth watched and listened.
Octavia goes to hug her brother but plunge a syringe into him instead. "Sleep well, big brother," Octavia says to him as she catches his unconscious body.
Beth and Helios come out from the tree. "Put him up here. I'll make sure he doesn't fall." Beth tells Octavia. Octavia nods, dragging her brother over to Beth's horse and helping Beth get him on. "Now, let's go before someone else shows up," Beth says once Octavia gets onto her horse.
They ride off to the only place Beth knew no one else knew about.
-----
Beth sat on a fur blanket Lincoln had in his cave. She missed this place and the waterfall. It was the only place the two could truly be alone. Octavia and Bellamy, as well as Indra, were in there. Bellamy had just awoken as Beth was sharpening her sword, glaring at the man.
"It was a mistake to bring him here," Indra says to the two girls. Beth shakes her head, disagreeing with the woman.
"He was out the whole way. And we searched him for bugs." Beth says. "Plus, it's not like he'd know how to get here anyway. He doesn't track that well." She adds.
"You think I'd let them hurt you both?" Bellamy asks Beth and Octavia. Beth doesn't reply, looking down at her sword.
Indra begins to speak. "Shut your mouth-" Octavia cuts off Indra.
"Indra, we talked about this," Octavia tells the woman.
"You waste time. You should be in their camp by now." Indra says to the two girls. Beth nods, agreeing.
"No, it's suicidal," Bellamy says to them. "Pike will be expecting you." He tells the two girls. "You won't get close. I can. We can save them, but we have to work together."
Beth looks up at the boy. "You're the reason they need saving." Beth snaps, sending the boy a glare.
"Maybe, but that doesn't change the fact that you and Octavia need me," Bellamy tells the two girls. Beth scoffs, shaking her head and standing up, putting her sword back in its holder.
"For the first time in my life, that's not true," Octavia tells her brother before leaving.
Beth follows her out, stopping at Indra. "We'll be back soon." She sends one last look to Bellamy before leaving.
"O... Beth!" Bellamy calls out. Octavia and Beth leave with the horses. "O!" Bellamy yells.
-----
Beth and Octavia rush into the prisoner's room, knocking out the guards, with drugs. "They were always shitty guards," Beth mutters. She sees Lincoln quickly walking over to her. "Lincoln." She mutters before hugging him quickly. "We need to hide you. Now." She says.
Octavia nods before opening a panel on the floor. Beth smirks. "I guess 16 years of being the girl under the floor really comes in handy sometimes." She whispers to Octavia, who in return, rolls her eyes at the red-head.
----
"All clear," Octavia says as she peaks her head out from under the floor. Beth smiles lightly.
"It's a little bit tight in there." Kane says as the group comes up from under the floorboards.
"Try doing it for 16 years." Octavia says back.
Beth looks at Lincoln, who looked worried. She grabs his face in her hands. "Hey, we'll come back for Denae and the others. I promise." He nods at her. She quickly gives him a small kiss. Beth vision blurs slightly as she almost falls. Lincoln quickly grabs onto her, holding her up, sending her a worried look. "I'm fine. I'm fine." She says. Lincoln and Octavia give her a look as if not believing her.
Abby enters the room quickly and Kane immediately sees her. "I told you not to do this." He says to his girlfriend.
"Why would I start listening to you now?" Abby asks him.
"Okay, S, come in." Harper's voice comes through the walkie.
"What is it?" Lincoln asks, noticing Beth's worried look.
"This wasn't the plan. We used their frequencies so they could hear us." She tells him. "Go ahead!" She tells Harper.
"Stay where you are," Harper tells them. "Repeat, stay where you are. The exit is not clear." She says.
Beth sighs before asking. "How many guards?"
"Too many," Harper replies. "I said "stay put"."
Another voice comes through the walkies, confusing Beth. "Calling all guards. The prisoners are headed for the main gate. The prisoners are headed for the main gate! Over!"
"That was Monty?" Beth asks the group.
"Guess he's with us after all?" Miller says. He and Bryan walking into the room.
"Pike will find out?" Kane asks them.
"We don't know that. What we do know is we have to move." Abby says to the group. Beth nods, agreeing.
-------
The group was quickly going to the hatch. Beth sighs in relief seeing it open, knowing Harper did it. "Thank you, McIntryre." She mutters to herself.
The prisoners all escape through the hatch. Kai, Sinclair, Bryan, Miller, and Octavia going through the hatch, leaving Beth, Lincoln, Abby and Kane.
"Attention all citizens. Emergency lockdown is in effect, return to your quarters immediately." Hannah says over the PA.
"Okay, Abby come on, you're next," Kane says after Octavia left after Kai through the passageway.
Abby shakes her head at the man. "I'm not going. They need someone to show them the way out of the dark. Besides, I-" Kane cuts her off by kissing her passionately.
"May we meet again." He says to her. Beth sighs.
Abby nods. "We will," Abby tells the man before leaving.
The radio static sounds through the walkie-talkie in Kane's hand. "I have a message for the traitors of this camp. There will be an execution today. Either turn yourselves in or the other grounder prisoners will die in your place."
Beth goes to pull Lincoln through the tunnel but Lincoln pulls away, going to walk down the hall towards where they knew Pike might be. "Please Lincoln, don't! No, wait! Lincoln!" She says, grabbing his arms, trying desperately to stop him.
Lincoln shakes his head. "I can't let them die because of me."
Beth shakes her head, tears threatening to escape her eyes. "Lincoln no, please we're almost out." She says to him, pleading with him.
Kane looks at his daughter's fiance. "I know what your feeling but they're searching the station we need to go. Now." Kane says to him.
Lincoln nods. "You should."
"Fine," Beth says. "I'm going with you." She tells him, gaining a look from her father. Beth raises her left hand, showing Lincoln the ring he gave her. "Osir gonplei teina. Forever. Osir promised each other bilaik."
Lincoln smiles, looking down at her stomach. "Yu don kom teik care gon the both gon yu, nau." He whispers to her. She gives him a confused look but he doesn't say anything but, "I love you."
He grabs her face in his hand, kissing Beth. Beth grabs his face in her hands, kissing him back, passionately. She smiles lightly into the kiss but suddenly stops as Lincoln sedates her.
"No!" She mutters before passing out. Lincoln catches her, looking at her, sadly. Lincoln kisses Beth's forehead.
"What are you doing?" Kane asks as he had just watched his daughter's fiance sedate her.
Lincoln looks away from Beth. "Same thing you'd do for your people. Just get her out of here." Lincoln tells him, handing him Beth. "Tell her, I love her. And tell her 'a gada'."
"A girl?" Kane asks, confused, knowing what gada means.
Lincoln frowns lightly. "She'll know soon."
Kane nods, still confused but said in Trigedasleng, "Ste yuj."
"You too," Lincoln tells him, kissing Beth's forehead for the last time, moving a piece of hair from her face. "Goodbye, my love." He mutters to her.
Lincoln slowly walks away, his hand slipping away from Beth's and he walks out of the room down the hall.
Lincoln's stone cold glare was pointed at the guards, more specifically Pike. "Freeze!" A guard yells. Lincoln raises his hands as Pike approaches him. Only two thoughts going through Lincoln's mind, one; save his people and two; hope Beth doesn't get hurt.
------
Miller and Byrne walk in front of Beth's horse, that is being led by Octavia, Kai, and Kane, with Beth laying on top of it. She soon wakes up, still hazy from the drug.
"Lincoln," Beth says and gets off the horse, causing her to fall to her knees.
Back at the camp, guards are walking with Lincoln tied up.
Beth starts to crawl towards the camp.
Two guards stop walking, holding Lincoln to face Pike. The other guards stand around them. Pike nods at the guards to let go of him. They back away.
Pike walks towards Lincoln.
Beth starts walking, pushing branches away from her as she tries to walk towards camp. She stops when she sees Pike, Lincoln and the other guards.
"No." She mutters.
Lincoln looks at Pike. "I can't free your people. But I can promise they'll be cared for." Pike says to Lincoln.
Lincoln nods. Pike backs away. Lincoln falls to his knees, water splashing as he does so.
Kane rushes with Octavia up to Beth who is crying, watching the scene fold out in front of her. Kane holds on to his daughter's arms. Beth pulls her arms away, "Get off me." She mutters, still staring at the scene in front of her. Pain in her eyes, heartbreak on her face, and numbness all through her body.
"Lincoln of Trikru. You have been sentenced to death in forms of the exodus charter. Any last words?" Pike asks the man on the ground.
"Not for you," Lincoln says looking up from the ground to Pike. Pike walks over to his left. Lincoln looks towards where Beth and the others are standing, knowing that they'd be around there, possibly seeing them. Beth starts to cry harder.
Pike takes his gun from its holster and aims it at Lincolns head. Beth sobs as she watches.
"Mebi oso na hit choda op nodotaim," Lincoln says in the grounder language.
Pike shoots. Lincoln falls to the ground in the puddle, blood seeping from his head. Dead.
A small, quiet gasp was heard from Beth as cried harder than she's ever done. "Lincoln!" She yells. Octavia grabs Beth, putting a hand on the girl's mouth, holding her in her arms as she cried. Beth tries to fight to get from Octavia's arms and rush to Lincoln. But as Beth almost does get free of Octavia's hold, she falls to the ground, her knees going weak as she just watched the love of her life get executed. Sobs escaping the girl as her best friend holds onto her. She stares at the camp, crying.
Octavia's face grows cold as she just watched the man that had treated her like his sister die. She grew angry at Pike for taking someone who was like a brother to her, as Kai walks closer to a death glare set on the man who killed his best friend, his brother.
Beth's sobs tore the brunette from her thoughts. Beth soon begins to whisper.
"In peace may you leave the shore." Her voice cracking as Octavia and her father look at her, hearing her words.
"In love may you find the next." Tears are running down the strawberry blondes face as she recites the words tattooed in her memory.
"Safe passage on your travels..." She stops for a moment. "Until our final journey to the ground."
"May we meet again." She sobs.
"Yu gonplei ste odon, Lin- L-." She whispers so low the others almost didn't hear the other language, not being able to finish.
She lets out sobs as Octavia hugs her close. Tears racing down Beth's face, from her eyes.

I'd dead now. Please don't kill me. Please. I had to mentally prepare myself for this so much. I didn't plan on finishing this chapter and publishing it today but I did. As sad as it was, I hope you guys did like this chapter. I have a plan for this series so PLEASE don't stop reading or liking this book. I have a plan. No, Kai is not dead. I know I said Beth will not become the Skairipa and I still plan to have it be Octavia, you guys just have to wait and see what happens. I also said that Beth will be the commander in season 5 but I'm not to sure if that is gonna happen now. I've been talking with a few friends of mine and we have thought of a few different ideas for Beth in the upcoming seasons and I don't think I'm gonna make her the Blodreina. Beth will be different from how she is now and you'll all see why but I don't think I'm gonna make her Blodreina. Anyways guys, please, please comment. I'm sorry of this chapter breaks a few hearts, it broke mine. Thanks for reading. Bye.
-Kelly.
