JOIN OR DIE
A door opens as a group of delinquents stand on the other side. "Let's go." Beth hears her fathers voice. She looks over from where she was talking with Miller and Harper, seeing her dad ushering them into a room.
"Please take a seat." The guard says as Beth, as well as the others, walk into the room. Beth looks up, seeing her father. He looks at her, giving her a small nod. She rolls her eyes and walks into the room. Beth sits next to Harper and Jasper, in front of Miller. Charles Pike, the Earth Skills teacher, stood at the front of the classroom.
"What the hell is this?" Harper whispers to Beth. Beth shrugs, not really knowing what was going on. Harper sighs, sitting back in her chair. A girl walks in, looking confused, trying figure out where to sit. The girl quickly sits in the last seat, in front of Harper.
Beth looks around the room, seeing a few familiar faces, but not many. Miller leans up in between her and Jasper, whispering, "It's the girl under the floor." He says. Beth looks in front of them, seeing the brunette. She looks back, seeing her dad look at her. He nods at her before leaving. She nods back before turning around.
"Welcome to Earth Skills."
----
Beth drove through the woods as Clarke sat next to her, looking at the flame. Jasper, Bellamy, Kai and Octavia sat in the back. Octavia looking out the rear window, making sure no one was following.
"It's been an hour since we past the airplane wreakage." Jasper says to Beth. She rolls her eyes, continuing to drive. "Seeing as we're using a map without any distances, it could be days before we reach Luna's village." He says to the group. Beth speeds up a bit, trying to ignore the boy. She had the map practically imprinted in her memory. Everything from Lincoln's book was imprinted there, as she's looked at them a thousand times.
"At least we know we're going in the right direction." Bellamy replies back.
Beth sighs, not wanting to listen to any of them talk, but Jasper ends up speaking again. "We're running out of daylight." And I'm running out of patients. Beth thinks to herself. "We should stop in the sun and recharge the battery." Jasper says to her.
Clarke, who was looking out the window, asks "What sun?" Beth looks up at the sky before looking back ahead of her. "We keep going until it dies."
"We keep going until we find Luna." Beth says. "Kai, are you sure Li- are you sure he never took you there?" She asks the man.
Kai shakes his head. "I've met her, but not where she lives. I have no idea where it is besides what the map says." He replies back to the red head, who sighs.
Jasper holds up the book, showing Kai a picture. "This her?" He asks the man, who nods. "What do you think she's gonna say when we show up asking to put an AI in her head?"
"Lincoln says she helps those that are in trouble." Beth says to the boy. "She'll help us too." Beth slams on the breaks as a tree was in the rovers way, causing everyone to fall forward. "Shit." She mutters.
"Think she can help us find a better map?" Jasper asks Beth, who snatches the book from his hands and puts it in her bag.
Bellamy begins to talk as Beth puts her bag over her shoulder. "Backtrack, find somewhere where the trees aren't so bad. Hey!" He yells as Beth gets out of the rover. Octavia getting out of the back, Kai following.
"Guess we're going on foot." Clarke says as she gets out of the rover along with Bellamy and Jasper. Beth jumps over the tree as Bellamy and the others follow.
"Anyone remember the part where I said it could be days?" Jasper asks the group.
Beth sighs, not replying as she kept going. She suddenly stops, hearing something. "Stop!" She says to them as Clarke and the others stop as well. Beth turns to Octavia, "You hear that?"
Octavia smiles lightly, barely noticeable. "Water." She says. Beth nods and rushes up the hill, Clarke, Octavia and Kai not far behind.
"Eye's sharp. They could be hostile." Bellamy's voice booms from behind them.
Beth rolls her eyes, not caring to hear what he has to say, before she turns around. "They're not hostile. Put the guns down." She says to him. Beth then rushes back ahead, the others following as Bellamy puts the gun facing the ground and follows the group. Beth runs along the water bank, the others following as she comes out of the woods, looking around.
She stops only seeing water and fog all around. She looks around, confused before looking at the book as Jasper asks. "Where's the village?"
Beth looks across the area, seeing rocks all stacked in weird ways. She looks at the book, the scene being familiar to her. She moves the book flap away from the page, seeing the area Lincoln had drawn. It was the same they were at. "No." She mutters. "No, it can't be." She says, confusion and anger seeping through her. She closes the book, running to the rocks. The others follow as she gets to the middle of the rock statues, before looking at the book once again.
"It isn't a village. It's just a bunch of rocks." Jasper says as the other walk over, stopping a few feet from Beth, as she continued to look at the book and their surroundings, confused.
"She's gone." Clarke says to the group.
"What do we do now?" Jasper asks as Beth went near the water, by the rocks that sat there. The others look over at her as she screams in anger, slamming her fist onto a rock, looking over at the water as tears form in her eyes.
-----
The class sat in their seats, watching as Pike was showing them how to build a fire. "The ability to make fire kept the human race alive during the Ice Age." Pike says as Beth rolls her eyes. She was bored, alreadying knowing most of this stuff, and confused on why they were learning it again. "There we go." Pike says as Beth notices Miller jump up, not very noticeable to the other students though. Beth smirks as she sees he almost fell out of the chair from falling asleep. Miller notices her look, hitting her arm. She smiles at him, almost laughing.
Smoke starts to come up from where Pike was trying to make the fire. "Who knows? It may do the same for us someday." Beth gives the man a confused look. She watched as he blew lightly on the smoke and a small fire began to rise. Her eyes widen slightly, forgetting this part during her first time taking this class. "Voila. The difference between life and death." Pike says to them. He puts a box over the fire to contain it and keep it at bay. Beth turns around as she heard clapping, seeing John Murphy on the other side of the room, clapping. Beth rolls her eyes at the boy. A few of the others start laughing as he did so. "Thank you, Mr. Murphy. Perhaps you'd like to tell us the key to surviving on the ground?"
"Not really, no." John answers, leaning forward in his seat. Beth rolls her eyes as he leans back, sighing.
Pike looks around the room, before looking at Octavia Blake, the Blake families second child. "Ms. Blake, how about you?" She looks up at him, nervous. "The key to survival on Earth. What is it?" He asks the girl.
Octavia shakes her head lightly, looking down. "Not dying?" She says. The class laughs as Beth rolls her eyes at them.
"You can laugh all you want, but we've got a lot to learn here." Pike tells the class. "Making fires, tying knots, how to navigate using stars, how to hunt." He tells them all, gaining a questionable look from Beth. Why the hell is he teaching us all this if we're never gonna get to go to Earth? She asks herself. "You have to learn which plants to eat and-"
Jasper cuts the man off. "Which ones we can smoke?" He asks, causing everyone, including Beth to laugh. Miller high fives the Jordan boy, laughing.
"Mr. Jordan, that is percisley why we had to separate you and Mr. Green." Pike says to the boy, pointing towards him. Beth smirks lightly, remembering what the two got caught for. Pike looks at the class. "Listen, the answer to my question, the key to surviving on the ground and on the Ark is to keep fighting at all costs against all odds." He tells them all. "The minute you give up, you're dead." Pike sighs as he notices John Murphy and John Mbege talking. "Am I boring you, Mr. Murphy."
Beth looks back at the boy. Murphy shrugs, saying. "I'll survive." His answer causing some to laugh in the room. Beth rolls her eyes, turning around in her chair.
-----
Beth sat next to Jasper and Octavia, looking through the book. Octavia and Jasper were working on the fire as Kai and Bellamy brought fire wood. "It'll be dark soon." Clarke says to the group. "We need to talk about what we're gonna do."
"We wait until first light and then we split up and search the shore in different directions." Beth says to them, not looking up from the book. As Octavia finally gets smoke to come up from where she was trying to make the fire, blowing lightly on it as Jasper praises her quietly.
"Yes." Octavia mutters as she brings the leaves over to the logs Clarke had stacked. She puts it underneath, blowing on it again, causing it to erput in flames. Beth smiles lightly at her friend.
Bellamy looks to the fire. "I agree." He says, causing Beth to look at him. He looks at Clarke. "Lincoln wouldn't put this spot on the map unless it was important." He says to them all.
Beth barely looks up at the man, a small glaring look in her eyes. He goes to try and grab the map. Beth knocks it out of his hands. "Don't touch that." She spats out. She moves the book closer to her as Octavia blows on the fire more.
Bellamy sighs as they watch the red head as she helps Octavia throw more grass and leaves into the fire. He leans down, squating next to Beth. "Come on, Beth. How long?" He asks the girl as she handed Octavia more wood.
She breaks a small piece of wood on her knee, in half. "I don't know." She says to him, not looking over at him, as she throws the pieces of wood in the fire. "I can't even look at you." She says to him, a small scoff in her voice. She can't look at the man who she once thought of as a brother, without seeing the face of her dead fiance. Without replaying that moment in her head, over and over again. "Because everytime I do, I see Pike putting that gun to Lincoln's head. I hear the gunshot and I see the man- I see my fiance die, over and over again." She says to the Blake boy, sending him a small glance before looking at the fire again.
Bellamy shakes his head. "I didn't kill Lincoln." Beth scoff at the mans words.
"You might as well have." She says to him. "You are the reason he is dead. Your stupid plan for revenge or whatever your reasoning, got him killed because he tried to save his people. Pike killed him because you let him." Beth stands up, angrily. "He is dead because of you."
Bellamy stands up, looking at her, speaking. "I came to you. You didn't take my help. If you had just trusted me, I.." Beth shakes her head, throwing the stick into the fire as she leaned down again, next to Octavia, who looked at her. Bellamy sighs, looking at Octavia. The younger Blake sibling shook her head. Bellamy looks over at Beth again before walking away.
Clarke stands watching him go as Jasper throws something into the fire. Beth's eyes widen as it turns green. Beth, Octavia, Jasper and Kai all jump up, moving away slightly as Clarke looks at it alarmed. "What did you just do?" Beth asks the Jordan boy.
"Nothing. I just threw these in the fire." Jasper says, holding up a plant. Beth looks at it before grabbing the book as Clarke asks, "What is it?"
Beth turns the pages and finds a piece of a plant. She pulls it out, holding it up for the others to see. She throws it into the fire making it turn green again. "Signal fire. He was trying to tell us." Beth says, holding up the book. "This is how we contact Luna." Beth smiles lightly along with the other two girls as Jasper throws the other piece in before him and Kai go get more. Clarke and Beth smile at each other before Clarke looks to where Bellamy was, seeing him still walking away.
-----
Beth, Jasper, Kai, and Octavia all sat around the fire. It was now night time as they await for Luna or someone. Clarke and Bellamy were down the beach, talking. Beth sat close to the fire, warming her hands as Jasper threw in more leaves.
Jasper and the rest jumps up as about six to seven others emerge from all around them. "No!" Beth exclaims as one holds a spear up to Jasper. "No, it's okay." She says to the people around them.
She takes her sword slowly out as the same time they bring over a tied up Bellamy and Clarke. Beth drops her sword as they push Bellamy and Clarke to their knees and a man walks over. Tattoos on his face as he looks at them. "Chon are Yu? Chomouda yu don flag daun?" He asks the group.
"Ai laik Beth Kom Skaikru. And Ai gaf gouthru klir." Beth says to the man.
The man looks at another before looking at Beth. "Skaikru, bringers of death. Why should we give you safe passage?" He asks them.
Beth sighs, before speaking. "Lincoln." The man looks at her questionably. "He sent us."
Kai takes out his sword, tossing it to the groung, looking at them. "Ai laik Kai Kom Trikru." He says to the group. The man looks at him, nodding.
He looks to the others. "Remove their gags and free their hands." He says to the others in Trigedasleng and they nod, doing so. Clarke and Bellamy stand up.
Bellamy looks at Kai and Beth. "What's going on?"
The two shrug, not knowing. "I don't know." Beth says to him as the man walks up to her, opening a small case and taking out a small vial, holding it out to her. Beth grabs it, slowly.
"What is that?" Clarke asks the man before he hands her one as well.
"Safe passage." The man answers her question. Beth looks at Kai, who nods.
The man hands one to Kai and Octavia before handing one to Bellamy as Jasper asks. "What does it do?" The man doesn't answer Jasper as Jasper then just grabs the vial from his hands.
"We're about to find out." Beth says as she opens her hand lifts her head, drinking it.
"Beth, wait!" Bellamy exclaims as Clarke's eyes widen at the girl. Octavia shrugs, taking her's as well. "O!"
Beth looks at Bellamy. "I trust Lincoln." She says to him. "A lot more than I do you." She tells Bellamy before feeling light headed.
"If only those three drink, only those three go." The man says after Kai takes his.
Jasper smirks, raising his. "See you on the other side." He says as he drinks it.
Beth watches as black spots cloud her vision. "Octavia-" She begins but falls to the ground, passing out.
"Crap." Bellamy mutters as he tries to rush to Beth but is stopped.
"Oh, crap." Jasper says as Kai and Octavia then too, pass out. Jasper stumbles back. "Oh, god." He mutters before falling and passing out.
The man looks at Clarke and Bellamy. "Last chance." He says to the two.
The two of them look at each other. "Together." Clarke says to Bellamy. Bellamy nods at the blonde girl.
"Flag daun floudon." The man says to another grounder. The grounder then puts their torch in the fire, collecting some and walking to the water bank. Clarke and Bellamy look at their vials then each other before drinking. The two sit on the ground together before passing out. The man rolls his eyes at the couple.
------
The class sat in the room, spread out talking as they waiting for Pike to come in. Beth stood with Jasper, Miller and Harper as John stood up, speaking. "All right, can we just get out of here, seriously?" He asks.
Harper looks at him. "What, you got better things to do, Murphy?" She asks the boy as she, Beth and Fox sat next to each other. Jasper and Miller next to them.
"Was that an offer, McIntyre?" Murphy asks, walking closer to them.
Harper looks around then down. "You're an epic dick, Murphy." She says to him. Beth nods, agreeing with her.
"You gonna call me a dick too, Kane?" Murphy asks the girl. Beth rolls her eyes. "Come on. We all know I've been annoying the hell out of you these past two weeks. Just hit me already. If you think you can."
Beth rolls her eyes once again, standing. "Seriously Murphy, sit the hell down." She says to him.
"I will if you sit with me." Murphy smirks. "No? Okay, how about you try to actually hit me then?" He says to her, smirking. "Guess the Princess won't do it after all." He says, baiting her. Beth shakes her head going to punch him but Murphy grabs her hand. She smirks lightly, swinging her left, punching him in the face. Harper and the rest laugh as Murphy looks at Beth, pissed.
"Did I bruise your ego?" She asks him. He rolls his eyes going to hit her back but she trips him, making him fall. "Don't test me, Murphy, you will fail." He shakes his head, going to hit her again once he got up. She kicks him, knocking the boy back before punching him again. He falls back into his chair as the door opens.
Pike walks in the room as Murphy stands up again. "Something wrong here?" Pike asks, seeing Beth's knuckles. Beth shakes her head, going back to her seat, glaring at John. "Everybody, take your seats." Pike says as he walks to the front of the class. "Now!"
Harper sits back in her seat next to Beth, giving her a confused look on why the man was so pissed. Pike looks at the class. "I'm sure all of you will be glad to know that we are officially done talking about Earth Skills." Pike tells them all.
"Great, in that case.." Murphy says, standing back up, going to walk out.
"Sit down!" Pike exclaims to the boy and John turns around. He looks at Pike, not sitting down. Pike slowly walks over to him. "How would you feel about assisting me with today's lesson, Mr. Murphy?" He asks the boy. Beth gives them a confused look, a bad feeling going through her as she watched the teacher.
John shrugs, smirking lightly as he answered their teacher. "Sign me up." Pike instantly punches Murphy causing a few kids, including Beth, to jump. "What the hell was that?" John asks the man but ends up getting punched again.
"Stop!" Beth exclaims from her seat.
Pike looks towards Beth. "You wanna take over, seems like you like to hit Mr. Murphy, here." Beth glares at the man. John turns around and looks at the man as Beth looks at him, worried. John holds his hands up in surrender before sitting down. Pike walks closer to him. "I know all about you, John Murphy." He says to the boy.
"Oh, you do, huh?" John asks him, looking up.
"Yeah, I do." Pike says, nodding. "Mother drank herself to death after father was floated for stealing medicine for you." Beth closes her eyes, thinking about how her mother was floated. "That's a tough row to hoe, I'll give you that." Pike looks around. "So what does he do with the second chance his father gave his life to buy for him?" Pike asks, looking back at John. "Wasted it. Setting the arresting officer's quarters on fire. Say something." He says to John. John looks up at him and Pike hits him again, almost knocking John from his chair, making everyone jump. Miller stands, looking at Pike and John as Beth does as well, as Pike talks again. "Do something." Pike tells John.
John turns and spits blood on Pike's shoes. "You know, I get it." John says. "You're trying to teach us to fight back." He tells Pike. Beth continues to look over there, nervously. John looks up at Pike.
Pike shakes his head. "Wrong." The older man says to the boy. He then grabs John out of his chair, throwing him against the wall.
Everyone stands. "Hey!" Beth yells. "Let go of him!" She says to Pike.
"Stop it!" Octavia Blake yells as Pike punches the teen in the stomach. Pike throws John into the chairs, causing the boy to fall and knock a few over.
"Leave him alone!" Jasper yells at Pike, standing from his chair.
"No one is coming to help you." Pike tells the class as Fox rushes to the doors, banging on them, yelling for help. "No one's coming to help any of you."
Pike punches John again, throwing him across the table, making him land on the ground, before walking over to the teen grabbing him. John Mbege and Jasper grab Pike off of him as Beth rushes over to Fox, banging on the door with her. Pike pushes the two boys off of him, going back to John, who then punches him. "Is that all you got?" Pike asks the boy. He slams John against the wall. "Gonna take more than the kids from your own station to save you." He tells the Murphy boy. He throws Murphy on top of the table, making the boy groan, choking him. "Who's gonna save you?" Pike asks right as Beth rushes over and pulls him off Murphy. She punches him in the face, only for him to retaliate and push her to the ground. She groans as she lands on her elbow and hits her head.
Beth was still on the ground as the door opens, guards walking in as her father does as well. "Dad!" She exclaims. He looks over at her before helping her up. "Pike, he started this." Beth says to her father but he doesn't listen, looking around at everyone.
"Charles, are you alright?" Kane asks him. Beth rolls her eyes as Harper grabs her arm, pulling her over with her and Fox.
Kane looks around at everyone. "Are you out of your minds? What the hell is this?" He asks the class. No one answers as they all look around, anger flowing throughout most of them.
"This is graduation. Congratulations. Class dismissed." Pike says before walking out of the room.
As the guards were taking students back to their cells, Beth grabs onto her dads arm before he left. "Dad!" She exclaims, quietly. Kane looks down at his daughter, seeing her elbow bleeding before looking at her face. "Pike started this. You know I wouldn't lie." She says to him.
Kane sighs before looking at another guard. "Get her to medical and then back to her cell." The guard nods, grabbing Beth's arm. She shrugs him off before glaring at her father and leaving the room.
--------
The next day, Beth sat on the floor of her cell, playing with the pocket knife she had been given to her by her father, when she first got arrested.
The door suddenly opens, knocking Beth from her thoughts. She quickly puts the knife away to look up and see her father and another guard. "Daddy?"
"Beth. Here, you need to change." He says to his daughter, handing her one of her old bags. She looks at the man confused. "You need this on." he says and puts a metal cuff on her wrist, making her hiss in pain.
"What? Why what's going on?" She asks him, confused as she takes the bag from his hand.
"I will explain in a minute. Get changed, we will wait outside." He says then the guard and him leave, closing the door.
Beth changes onto the clothes she had in the bag, putting her old ones in there and she walks out of the room. Kane is standing there alone now. Beth's see the other guards taking delinquents out of their cells. All 100 of them.
"Daddy, what's going on?" She asks him, looking at him quite confused.
Kane looks at her before replying. "Keep this bag with you. Don't let anyone touch it." He says.
"What is happening?" She demands to know.
"Beth, you're being sent Earth." He says.
She looks at him in shock, looking around and across the skybox and see Clarke Griffin with her mom. "You and Clarke need to stick together. I can't lose you too." he says.
"You're killing us all by doing this." She says to him, her face remaining emotionless.
"We're saving you by doing this. Beth, I need you to understand." He tells her. She sighs and "Good, now. You need to go with the guards to the drop ship." He says. He pulls her into a hug, which is something he rarely does. "I love you Beth." She nods and he let's go of her.
She walks away with him with the bag still in her hands. She follows the guards to the drop ship, walking in a line. She was walking with Harper, the two giving each other the same look. They were angry and scared.
Beth walks past her father, giving him a cold look before continuing to walk. He frowns lightly as he watched his daughter go, not knowing if she would live or die.
Once she walks into the dropship, a guard points to the higher level. Beth rolls her eyes before climbing the ladder. She wasn't sure if she was gonna live or die, and that scared the hell out of her.
Beth goes in and sits next to Octavia Blake. She gives the girl a small smile, which she returns.
"Get ready for one hell of a ride." Beth says to the girl.
------
Beth starts to soon wake up, lifting her head up lightly as she looked around as the others were waking up as well. "Where the hell are we?" Beth asks the group. She reaches for her sword. "My sword's gone." She says.
Octavia nods. "Our's too." She says about her and Kai as she helps Beth up.
"Guns, too." Jasper says to them. Beth sighs.
Clarke quickly reaches in her pocket, pulling out the flame box, opening it, seeing the flame as Beth and Octavia bang on the wall. A sudden bright light appears as the doors open. They all look over, shielding their eyes from the sun as a girl walks in. Beth walks closer to the girl as she walks towards them. "Luna." Beth says. Clarke and the others walk closer.
Luna looks around at them and then Kai. "Where's Lincoln?" She asks the group, more so Kai.
Beth looks down before looking back at the girl, with sadness in her eyes. "Lincoln- Lincoln is dead."
Luna looks down, obviously saddened by the news. Clarke walks closer. "Lincoln said that you would help us."
"Did he?" Luna asks them.
"Luna." Kai says. Luna looks at the man before looking back at Clarke. "Luna, you're the last of your kind. The last Nightblood."
Luna looks around. "So Lexa is dead as well." She says. Luna looks at Beth, noticing she looked familiar. "You were Lexa's second." Beth nods at her. "And Lincoln's fiance." Beth sighs, nodding.
"Her spirit has chosen you to become the next Commander." Clarke tells Luna. "Titus entrusted me with the Flame to give to you." Clarke explains to the Nightblood.
"Then he should have told you I left my conclave, swearing never to kill again." Luna says to them.
"You don't have to kill." Clarke says. "To lead is your birthright, how you lead is your choice." Clarke walks closer to her, opening the flame box. "Here." She says holding out the Flame.
Luna grabs Clarke's hand, looking at the Flame. "I recognize the sacred symbol, but what is that?" Luna asks the girl.
"This is the Flame." Clarke says to her. "It holds the spirits of the Commanders, of Lexa." Clarke explains. Luna looks up at her. "Will you take it and become the next Commander?" Clarke asks her.
Luna looks down at the Flame and then back to Clarke. "No." She says
Beth sighs. "Luna, please!" She exclaims, but doesn't get an answer.
"Luna!" Kai exclaims, following the girl. The rest of them follow him.
Beth's eyes widen as she sees where they were at. In the middle of the ocean, the place on large stilts. She looks around, wide eyed. "What the hell?" She mutters, sharing a look with Clarke and Octavia.

So idk if its just me or isn't no one else's notifications working? Lol anyways, what do you guys think of this chapter? What do you guys think of Beth how she was this chapter? Sorry the flashbacks were really shitty.... She still blames Bellamy and that won't change for a while. The love of her life's dead, of course she's angry. But she will not become like how Octavia is in season 4 aka the Skairipa. Beth has to many things to worry about next season than killing a bunch of people because she's angry. The song in the media thing just makes me want to go rewatch all of S1 again. Anyways, I know what I'm doing for the end of season 4 and the beginning of 5, now all I have to do is finish this book and finish s4 to get caught up with the show and my plans. I think there is only a few chapters left, like 3 left. There will possibly be a new chapter tonight. Idk, I just stayed up all night to work in this and it's almost 1 in the afternoon and I haven't slept yet. Anyways please, please comment what you guys thought. Thanks for reading. Bye.
-Kelly.
