Chapter 12

DEMONS

Beth sat next to Raven and Monty in the back part of the Rover as Bellamy drove with Clarke in the passenger seat. "Becca's journal is impresive. At 26, she found a pathway to access a human mind." Raven says to the group. Octavia, Jasper and Sinclair sitting across from the three others. "That same year, she had to lock up Alie, because her answer for what was wrong with the world was 'to many people. She was 27 when it launched the bombs." Raven tells them.

"What did she write about the flames?" Clarke asks, turning around in her seat.

"Alie 2.0 and the other Alie 2.0. She made two just in case something happened to the first. She saw it as a way to atone for her sins. She designed them, not just to access a human mind, but to merge with one. It could never wipe us out, because it would be one of us. How Beth has it in her, it won't kill her, because it is part of her. Becca put it in herself first, saved the second one for her friend, who unfortunitly died. She altered her genes so it wouldn't reject the implant."

Beth nods. "Bekka Pramheda, the First Commander. Lexa used to tell me stories all about her." Raven nods at Beth.

"The gene therapy made her blood black, didn't it?" Clarke asks Raven.

"Yeah." Raven says. Beth sighs, nodding.

Octavia looks at Clarke. "How did you know that?"

"Nightblood." Beth says to them. Clarke nods. "That's where it came from. Somehow it became hereditary."

Clarke nods before saying, "Luna has it. That's why we have to find her." Clarke says to them. "If she can access Alie 2.0, with Beth and her flame-"

"She can tell us how to stop Alie 1." Octavia says and Beth nods. Octavia looks over at Beth. "How do you have a flame in you? You don't have black blood."

Beth shakes her head. "No, but before they put the flame in me, they gave me some of Lexa's blood to help it adjust. Even if they don't believe in the science behind it all, Lexa wanted it done. She once told me that something in the back of her mind told her to do it. Maybe that was Becca." Beth explains to them.

"It says here, that the 3 didn't need the black blood to work." Raven says. "Becca had made if for a friend, who was sick. She died before Becca could give it to her." Raven explains to the girl.

"We need to find Luna, quick, before Alie does." Clarke says.

"Bekka Pramheda gets her second shot at atonement." Sinclair says.

Monty stares at the flame, talking, "Get back to the mind pathway. If Alie uses it to upload our minds to the City of Light, then there's a chance my mom's still alive." Monty says to the group. Beth gives him a small frown, a light worrisome look in her eyes.

"That depends on your definition of 'alive'." Raven says to the boy.

"Eyes sharp. Weapons hot. We're almost home." Bellamy says from his seat as he drove. Beth takes a deep breath, not ready to go back there. She shakes her head lightly, not wanting to go back to the place Lincoln was killed.

Octavia grabs Beth's hand across from her. "It's gonna be okay." She whispers to the red head.

Beth nods as Bellamy speaks into the radio. "Miller, come in." No one replies as the group waits. "Harper, Kai, you there?" He asks into the radio. "Your rides two minutes out." He says before putting the radio down.

"Good start." Jasper whispers. Beth closes her eyes, putting her head in her hands, resting her arms on her knees. Beth takes another deep breath, sighing before she looks up and out the front window.

------

Beth, Octavia, Sinclair, Bellamy and Clarke all got out, walking along side as Monty drove. The four were making sure no one was going to try and kill them.

"We left two days ago, why haven't they fixed the gate?" Beth asks the group.

"Maybe cause there's no one here to fix it." Jasper says from the top of the rover.

Octavia looks around. "It's like a ghost town." She says. Beth nods, agreeing.

"Miller, where the hell are you?" Bellamy asks into the radio. "I don't like this."

Beth looks around at the building, sighing, as Jasper spoke. "Maybe they got chipped."

"If they got chipped, they'd have been waiting for us at the cave." Bellamy says to Jasper. Beth nods, agreeing.

"Maybe they saw the open gate and went in for Lincoln's book." Jasper says.

Beth sighs, holding her sword up, awaiting for someone to attack. "Maybe you should stop saying 'maybe'."

"If they are chipped, Alie already knows we're coming." Clarke says to the group.

Beth looks around, noticing where they were. She suddenly stops walking, staring down at the ground as Bellamy notices the puddle too. Beth stared down at it, her eyes suddenly filled with sadness. Octavia notices Beth's look before seeing the puddle of Lincoln's blood, as tears filled Beth's eyes.

"Let's get his book and get the hell out of here." Octavia says, grabbing Beth's hand pulling her away from the puddle.

Octavia pulls Beth closer to the building as Clarke looks at Bellamy, confused. "Lincoln." He says to the blonde.

The group goes into the hanger bay, Monty driving the rover inside as the others walked in, their weapons up. "Close it up. Turn the Rover around, we may need to leave quickly." He says to Monty and Sinclair as the group walks more into the Ark.

Beth looks around, confused as Clarke spoke her thoughts. "It's like they just got up and walked away."

"We're in and out." Bellamy says to them all. "Pack as much gear as you can into the Rover."

Beth looks at Clarke and Bellamy. "I'll get the map." She says to them before walking away. She looks and sees Jasper and Octavia following her. "Alone." Beth continues, causing the two to stop. "I'll meet back here." Octavia sighs, nodding. Beth turns back around, walking away from the group.

------

Beth opened the door to her and Lincoln's room, walking inside, slowly. She stops as the door closes behind her, looking around. She looks down at the bed as tears threaten to escape her eyes. She sighs, walking inside more and notices Lincoln's guard jacket. She stops walking, looking at the jacket. She slowly reaches for it, grabbing it and holding it to her chest as tears fell from her eyes.

Beth hold the jacket to her face inhaling, as she smelled it. It smelt like Lincoln. Beth lets out a sob, falling to her knees as she held the jacket to her face. She closed her eyes, remembering when he had first gotten it.

"They just gave you a jacket? Just like that?" Beth asks Lincoln as the two stood in the room. She was in the middle of changing when Lincoln had just walked inside, wearing it.

Lincoln nods. "Yeah, Bellamy and your father gave it to me." He replies. He notices the look on Beth's face. "Are you okay with this?" He asks her.

Beth gives him a small smile. "Yes, if you're happy, then I'm happy." She tells him. He smiles at her, kissing her lightly. She smiles into the kiss, pulling the jacket off his shoulders before stepping back. "Do you think I'd look cute in it?" She asks Lincoln, putting the jacket over her shoulders, smiling at the man.

"You look cute in anything." Lincoln tells her, walking back over to her, wrapping his arms around her. "And in nothing." He whisper in her ear.

Beth laughs, hitting Lincoln's arm, a smile on her face. "Shut up." She says before kissing him, wrapping her arms around his neck. The two move backwards to the bed. She squeals as Lincoln and her fall onto the bed, Lincoln laughing happily along with her.

The sound of Lincoln's laughter haunted Beth's mind as she held the jacket to her, looking at their bed.

Beth lets out a small scream, throwing the jacket across the room, crying. "It's okay to fall apart a little." The voice makes Beth jump, letting out a small gasp as she stands and sees Jasper by the door. "You loved him. He was your fiance."

Beth shakes her head. "I- Jas-" She begins, crying even more. Jasper walks over to her, hugging her. She cries into his chest. "How- how did you- how do you do it?" She asks the boy.

Jasper shrugs. "I'm still trying to figure it out." He says. Beth nods, wiping the tears from her face.

"We gotta find the book." Beth says to him. "Look in that pile of stuff over there, I'll look in the trunk." Beth says to Jasper, who nods, walking over to the table.

Beth leans down, putting her hands on top of the trunk, taking a deep breath before opening it. She moves some of the stuff around, trying to block it all out and look for the book. "A warrior isn't supposed to mourn the dead until the war is over. Guess I'm a shitty warrior, huh?"

"Octavia's out in the hall." Jasper says to the red head, not answering her. Beth rolls her eyes as she still looks through the trunk. "I'll go get her to help."

Beth nods, not turning around. Beth stops as she sees the book. She slowly picks it up, opening it as she leans against the table. She opens it to the page where Lincoln had drawn her, when they first had met. She smiles lightly as she sees the picture. She lets out a breath before turning the pages. She stops when she notices a map. "Luna." Beth whispers to no one inparticlar. She closes the book, wrapping it up and then turns around.

She looks up as Jasper comes in, groaning, a large gash on his head. Beth's eyes widen seeing the boy. "Grounder" He says as he falls to the ground, she quickly rushes over to him, leaning down to check on him.

"Jasper!" She exclaims. A man quickly rushes into the room, dressed in all grounder clothing. Beth quickly stands, trying to get her sword but the man grabs Beth, putting an arm around her neck, chocking her as she tries to fight him off. He lifts her up so she is no longer touching the ground as he chokes her. After a moment, she passes out, her feet not kicking any longer as she tried to fight. The book falling out of her hands and onto the floor.

-----

"Emerson, I know you're listening, we need to talk." Beth hears Clarke's voice come through the walkie talkie Emerson had taken from Harper. Harper, Bryan, Miller, Kai, Jasper, Monty, Octavia, Raven and Beth were all locked away in the airlock, tied up by Emerson.

Jasper, Raven, Beth, and Octavia on one side; Monty, Kai, Bryan, Harper and Miller on the other side. Octavia, Beth, Kai and Miller were tied up, standing as the rest sat on the benches.

"I don't need to do anything." Emerson says as he stood in the middle of the group. "You should have killed me when you had the chance."

Beth looks at the man confused as Clarke replies. "And now you're here to kill me, is that it?" Clarke asks him.

"Something like that." Emerson answers. Beth tries to untie the knots but is unable too.

"Then let my friends go." Clarke says to the man. "Do that and you can have me." Clarke tells the man.

"You're brave, Clarke." Emerson tells her. "I'll give you that. They're lucky to have a friend like you. Come to the airlock. No weapons." He says to the blonde. "Right now."

----

"I held up my part of the deal." Clarke says as she walks towards the airlock with her hands raised. "Your turn. Let my friends go." She says to him.

Emerson was now standing behind Octavia with a knife out. "Tell Bellamy to show himself first." Emerson says to the blonde.

"I don't know what you're talking about." Clarke tells the man.

Emerson punches Octavia's side making her scream. Beth tries to lunge at the man but is unable to do so from being tied. Bellamy rushes around the corner, his gun raised as he walks forward. "No!" Emerson quickly moves and puts a knife around Octavia's throat, making Octavia cough.

"Good." Emerson says. Clarke looks back at Bellamy, shaking her head. "Now, take out the clip, throw it down the hall, put the gun on the ground and get inside." Emerson tells the Blake boy.

"Mmm-mm." Octavia groans, trying to tell her brother not to listen to the Ex-Mount Weather guard.

"Please, you wanted me. I'll get inside once you let them go." Clarke says to the man, her arms still raised as Bellamy still held his gun up.

"I was talking to Bellamy." Emerson says to her. He cuts down Octavia's skin.

Bellamy shouts, holding his hand up. "Okay, okay! Just... Just stop!" Bellamy takes the clip out, taking the gun off his shoulder. Beth watches as he puts them on the floor. Bellamy slowly walks into the airlock as Emerson watches, the knife still against Octavia's skin.

Emerson nods to a pair of handcuffs on the wall. "Those are yours." He says to Bellamy. Bellamy nods, handcuffing himself to the wall. Once Bellamy is chained, Emerson pushes Octavia to the wall, letting her go. Emerson pulls out a gun, aiming it at Clarke. "Get on your knees, Clarke." He says. The blonde quickly complies, kneeling on the ground, looking at her friends and the man who held them hostage. "Your hands behind your head." He says. Beth watched as Clarke did so. Beth had her leg up on the wall, trying to break away. Octavia must have been thinking the same because she had her left leg on the wall as she tried to pull at the cuffs.

Emerson walks towards Clarke. He stops at the control area, sealing them all inside. Beth's eyes widen as Emerson walks behind Clarke, pointing the gun at her head. Beth pulls at the restaints more, hurting her arms. But she didn't care, she didn't want to watch another person die.

Clarke's voice was muffled as Emerson grabbed her arms, pulling her to stand, the gun still on her. Emerson made her walk towards the airlock and pressed her face to the window. Clarke was shouting something as he wrapped an arm around her, keeping the gun pointed at her temple. He talks to her for a moment before pulling her backwards, he hits another button on the control panel. Beth's eyes widen as the light turned red and a robotic voice spoke through the speaker. "Airlock five. Oxygen venting." The voice says as Beth tries to pull harder at the cuffs.

Tears fell down Beth's cheeks as the only thing she could think about was seeing Lincoln again. If she died today, at least she would be with him. Beth gasps for air as the oxygen left the airlock. Beth looked at all her friends once more before closing her eyes as black dots became to cloud her vision.

"May we meet again." She thought in her head as there was a sudden loud sliding sound as a white light replaced the red. Beth slowly starts to open her eyes, gasping as oxygen came out from the vents. She looks at the others, seeing they were all gasping for the new oxygen as if flew out. She saw Clarke there, sparled out on the ground, looking at them tearfully. Beth lets out a sigh of relief, though she was just ready to give up, to be with Lincoln again. This wasn't how Beth wanted to die. She wanted to die protecting her people.

Beth looks past Clarke, seeing Emerson in a pool of his own blood. She had no idea how the hell Clarke did it but she didn't care.

-----

Beth helped Monty and Octavia pack the Rover as Bellamy walks back to them, nothing in hand. Beth looks at the man confused. "Where-" She begins but Bellamy shakes his head. "Where is he?" Beth asks, yelling.

"He wasn't there. The other grounders must have burned him already." Bellamy says and Beth shakes her head, tears falling from her eyes.

"No. No, he should be here. No. I need to- I need-" Beth throws the rope she had in her hands down to the ground before she runs back inside.

"Beth!" Bellamy yells as he was about to go after her.

Octavia stops him, giving him a glare. "Don't." She says to him. "Finish packing the rover, I'll get Beth." Octavia says and rushes after Beth.

----

Beth slammed the door closed to her and Lincoln's room. She looks around, anger and sadness in her eyes as she lets out a frustrated scream. She quickly goes to the table, throwing everything off of it, angrily.

"No." She whispers. "Pull yourself together, Beth." She mutters as she looks around the room once again. She sees Lincoln's jacket on the bed.

Beth walks over, picking it up and putting it on. "Mebi oso na hit choda op nodotaim." She whispers, before turning around and seeing Octavia in the doorway. "Where is his body?" She asks her.

Octavia shakes her head. "I don't know, B. We'll find him when we get back and then we'll give him a proper funeral." She says to the red head.

Beth nods and walks to the door. She looks around the room one last time before turning out the light and walking away, the book in her hands and Lincoln's jacket on her shoulders.

----

Beth stood next to Raven, holding torch as Raven said her goodbye to Sinclair. Beth looks over at the girl, who nods at her. "Yu gonplei ste odon." Beth says as she lights the pyro on fire and steps back with Raven.

"Yu gonplei ste odon." Everyone else repeats as they watched the fire go bigger. Beth looks over at Bellamy as he stared at the empty stop they were going to put Lincoln. Beth looks at the empty stop. "It's time to go!" Beth says to the group, pain in her voice. "We have the map." She says and walks away, not wanting to be standing there anymore, not wanting to stare at the place Lincoln's body would have burned. The others watch Beth leave.

----

Beth stood with Bellamy and Clarke as Monty helped Raven walk as Jasper loaded the Rover, Miller and Bryan walking up from behind, Harper not to far back.

"Why aren't you ready?" Beth asks the five, noticing they don't have any of their stuff.

"We're not going with you." Raven says to the red head.

Clarke shakes her head, "Raven..."

"Listen, I can barely walk and my shoulder is killing me." Raven says. "But my brain is all kinds if awesome."

Beth shakes her head as Monty speaks. "She remembered that ALIE downloaded herself into the Ark mainframe. If it's still there, we can find a back door."

"I'm guessing once you connect ALIE 2 to Luna. And you keep ALIE 3 in Beth. We'll need to find ALIE 1 to take her down." Raven explains the them.

Beth nods as Bellamy looks at Miller. "Miller."

Miller nods at him. "We'll keep them safe."

"I'll keep them safe." Harper says to them. Beth let's out a small laugh.

Bellamy looks over at Jasper. "How about you? It's gonna be dangerous." He asks the boy.

"You know me well. I'm in." Jasper says. Beth nods.

"Ok." Bellamy says and everyone hugs goodbye.

Beth, Kai, Bellamy, Clarke, Octavia, and Jasper get in the rover; with Beth driving and Clarke in the passenger seat. "Let's get the hell out of here." Beth says before driving away.

--------

What did you guys all think about this chapter? It's a lot shorter than last night's chapter but I tried. I haven't edited it all the way yet so if it sucks, I'm sorry. Also, I know Beth has been crying a lot since Lincoln died but wouldn't you, if your fiance was killed right in front of you and you already lost a friend like 2 days before? And I told you guys Beth's reaction was gonna be a bit different than Octavia's and you'll see more of that soon. Please, please comment what you guys thought!  I think we have like 3 more chapters until book 4. I'm so excited, s4 was one of my favorite seasons and I'm really loving season 5. Also, know that if you guys ever wanna talk about The 100 or Beth or anything at all, y'all can message me. Anyways, please comment and let me know what you think about this chapter. Thanks for reading. Bye.

-Kelly.
