Chapter Three: The Foe

A few weeks into their travels, they reached a meadow. "This is a nice place to camp." Katie remarked. There was green grass, berry bushes closer to the woods in which they came, trees and some bright-colored flowers. Katie picked up a pink Tulip near her and tried to put it behind Leon's ear. "Hey," he said, batting it away, "put it behind your own ear." Katie stuck her tongue out at him before putting the flower on his backpack "There." Leon rolled his eyes, "Very funny Katie." They started setting up camp when they heard a crack in the woods. Katie pulled out her swords "Who's there?"

"Is that your catchphrase now?" Leon queried, causing a smirk to show on Katie's face. Out from behind a bush, a rich masculine voice replied "Oh I don't think I should say. Besides, it is much more fun to have you figure it out on your own." Leon pulled out his iron sword and stood back-to-back with Katie. "Well come out in to the open then you coward." Katie growled. Out from behind the bush came a burly man wearing only purple, "Is this what you were expecting my dear?" he replied. Under his breath, Katie heard Leon say one word, crap. "What is it Leon?" she asked him. "We're screwed," Leon answered "That's a Dredlord." The Dredlord chuckle in amusement, "My, I am so glad someone have heard of us. It is so- refreshing!"

"The million nickolas question is, which side are you on?" Leon retorted. The Dredlord put a fisted-up hand under his chin "Well I guess it would depends on you." Two swords, also purple, appears in the Dredlord's now open hands. "Now it's on! Charge!!" Katie cried as she ran to the Purple Dredlord. "Katie!! That won't-" Leon started to yell at her, but Katie had already began to attack, without much success. Leon ran in after her leaving a confused Kirby in his wake.

A few hours after the fight commenced, the Dredlord spoke "Well this is enlightening." before disappearing. "Come.. back.. you.. Chicken!" Katie heaves before face planting into the ground. Leon kneeled down next to her, also out of breath, "You... okay... Katie?" Kirby walked over to the two with their water bottles, "Poyo?" he asked. "Yeah, thanks..Kirb." Leon drank most of his water before dumping the rest on Katie resulting in a slight growl. Leon laid down beside her and soon, they were both out cold. "Poyo." Kirby sighed, he grabbed two of the sleeping bags and laid them on his sleeping companions before taking watch.
