Chapter Thirteen: The Water

"Over here!" Katie called, a few feet in front of her was a pool of water. She ran to the pond only to see that it was a chartreuse green. "This ain't good." Katie said, looking toward her friends.

"What's the matter?" Leon asked "Oh." he said once he reached the water's edge. "Poyo." Kirby said. "Yeah, the thing is, I've hunted here and the pond was always clear or close to it." Kaite's voice filled with anger "Who did this?!" Leon knelt down and scooped up some of the water in his hand, "It's poisoned." Katie sat down, shaking her head. "Poyo?" Kirby asked, sitting down next to her.

"I think the Undead did it." she said finally. "Probably, but why?" Leon sat down also, "What's the purpose of this?" They all go into a silence that doesn't leave for a good ten minutes. "What can we do? Without the pond, everything in the forest will die." Katie asked.

"All we can really do is keep fighting the undead."

"No! There has to be something else we can do." Katie started digging through her bag, pulling things out. "What are you looking for, Katie?" Leon asked.

"My Potion textbook, there should be something to help."

"How? This is something the Undead did, not a human." Leon argued. Katie looked up at him long enough to glare "That doesn't mean I can't try." She pulled out a textbook and starts to flip through the pages. "I think I found something, but I'll need help." she said.

"How can we help? Leon asked, Katie smiled and gave him the list of ingredients to look for in the forest.

"I got everything you asked for Katie." Leon said, carrying a sack full of plants. "Good, set it here." She said, there was already a small fire with a metal pot on top. "Anything else?" he asked. "Not right now." Katied started adding plants, mixing occasionally.

"Done." Katie said, pouring the concoction into the pond. "Do you think it will help?" Leon asked, she nods "It should." They sat for a while, waiting for any change with the water. After thirty minutes, the water changed from the chartreuse green to clear, as clear as Freshly-cleaned glass. "Huh, looks like I poured too much." Katie said, taking a sip of water. Leon takes a sip also "It tastes better than most of the streams I've drank from." Katie nodded as she stood up.

"You okay?" Leon asked looking up at her. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just gonna clean up my stuff." She smiled as she put her book back in her bag. Leon got up and started to set up the tents.
