Chapter 8: Night Bandits

Ash(POV)
I woke up at 11:32 P.M, and it had finally stopped raining. I decided to head out now before it began to pour again. I returned all of my Pokémon into their Pokeballs except Sceptile. He wanted to protect me, so I allowed him to. He still had a twig in his mouth, so we burnt out the fire and left.

Immediately, we got lost in the woods.

Everything looked the same, and I couldn't see very well. I sent out Noctowl to help me see through the night, and we eventually found our way back.

I returned Noctowl and entered the city which was still empty. I couldn't find Officer Jenny anywhere, and I still didn't know the streets very well. It felt like a ghost town.

Suddenly, Pikachu sent an electroball towards the bush. Then, a man in a Team Rocket uniform appeared. It wasn't Jessie and James, it was somebody else.

The grunt spoke, "What's a weak trainer like you doing on the streets. Shouldn't you be heading to Kalos young lad?!"

He made me angry when he said I was weak. I yelled at him, "Who you calling weak? At least I don't need help from an almighty organization to be noticeable!"

He was actually offended by me saying that and sent out a Crobat.

I knew Sceptile could handle this fairly well, so I sent him in to show that even at type disadvantage I can beat this grunt. He got pretty confident of himself telling his Crobat,
"This guy is fighting is with a type disadvantage, does he not know flying is strong against grass?" He began to laugh pretty hard.

Grunt: "Crobat, beat this pitiful trainer to the ground, use an air slash!"

Crobat swiftly made little air blades, it was kinda like an air shuriken.

Sceptile just stood there taking the hit. It was a direct hit and smoke covered Sceptile. The grunt laughed hard thinking it was already over.
When the smoke cleared, Sceptile had taken no damage. The grunts mouth went strong down and he was speechless.

Ash: "Sceptile! Use Leaf Storm!"

The bright green leaves suddenly surrounded the Crobat as it began to get unbalanced while it flew. It kept getting hit by leaves inside the storm. It was somehow still alive from taking about 20 hits, but it did have type advantage, which technically doesn't exist.

Grunt: "Crobat! Use Cross Poison!"

It flew right up to Sceptile at incredible speed. Sceptile did take damage from that attack, but not much. Finally it was my turn again.

Ash: "Sceptile! Finish this with an X-Scissor!"

Sceptile ran straight up to Crobat and got a perfect direct hit. Since Crobat has poor defense, it fainted.

The grunt freaked out and returned the Crobat.
"You may have beat me, but you can never beat team rocket!" he shouted as he began to run.

Luckily, a Machamp wearing a police cap appeared before the grunt and stopped him. Officer Jenny appeared from behind a nearby tree and hand-cuffed the man.

"Your under arrest for joining Team Rocket, Grunt! You'll be under inspection and you will be force to live in prison for 2 years!" she told him as she put him with Machamp.

"Machamp, take him to prison, or with Looker. He'll be taken care of with them" she instructed as Machamp began to run with the man.

I realized it was the same Officer Jenny from this morning, as she asked, "Ash! Why are you coming back this late at night? It's midnight and Goldenrod City is full of bandits like this one."

I explained to her that it began to rain and I had to take shelter, and that I was only heading home since it stopped raining. Plus, I told her that I made my final decision of which side I was going to choose. She was extremely excited about this and asked what side I would choose.

I told her, "I'll reveal it at the Old Battlefield since the entire world will be there." She completely understood and escorted me to the hotel room. We had to take a longer route so nobody would find me. She told me I should leave to the airport very early on Charizard tomorrow morning. I understood why, and said goodnight to her.

I fed Pikachu and Sceptile some Pokefood and a bottle of Ketchup. It was 1:00 A.M. While they ate, I cleaned up the room. That's when I noticed Gold wasn't back yet. I very quickly called him. He didn't answer the call, but he did text me he would call me back. So I went to lay down in bed after I cleaned all of my stuff. I turned the ringer on the rotomphone so when Gold called me back, I could answer it.

Gold(POV)
Togetaro was flying really fast at this point. We only got to Cherrygrove City at 12:58 A.M, and I was sleepy, but Ash left tomorrow and I needed to pack my things fast.

That's when my Pokegear was going off. Ash called me. He must've wondered where I was. I couldn't answer since the wind would make the audio bad, but I did text him that I'd call him back. So we kept flying to New Bark Town. I saw the moon shine over the whole forest as we flew. A few hoot-hoots were flying in the air, and we saw Rattatas on the ground with berries in their mouths.

Finally, it was 1:26 A.M when I arrived home. I had the keys, and I opened the door only to find the house empty. The kitchen lights were on, but a plate was smashed on the ground.

I walked upstairs to see a picture of my mom cracked. I rushed up to my room to see my badges on the ground, all cracked. I picked it up to see a note my mother wrote very fast and rushed.

It wrote, "Gold, if u r reading this, HELP!"

It seemed that Lance's Men already came here and took everyone here. I tighten my fist at the thought of my entire town being gone.

It made me fill with anger.

I grabbed my clothes, my Pokémon that I left in the PC. I transferred them into my Pokegear instead so that way I didn't need to go to a Pokémon Center to pick them up. I lastly took a photo of all of my friends and family gathering here at my new home.

That was the happiest day of my life.

Before I left, I looked at my room one last time. The bed I used to sleep in was now going to be cold for the next coming years. I began to tear up a bit, but I didn't have time. I did call Ash like I said I would. He picked up the phone finally.

Gold: Hey Ash, sorry for waking you up! I know it's late.
Ash: It's fine. 'Yawns'. Are you ok? You aren't at the hotel room, I thought you were taking a stroll.
Gold: I did, but I kinda had to go to New Bark Town and pick up some things at my home.
Anyways, I'll meet you at the airport tomorrow morning hopefully.
Ash: Alright, get some good rest then tonight. The plane leaves at 8:25 A.M tomorrow.
Gold: Alright, I'll sleep here! Night Ash!
Ash: Night Gold! Hope your safe!

The phone call ended and I decided I should sleep here one last time. I placed an alarm for 5:00 which was in 3 hours.

I was about to go to bed, but then a flashlight appear in the window. My name was yelled from outside the house. It was Officer Jenny! I went outside in my Jacket and greeted her.

"Officer Jenny what are you doing here?" I asked her.

"My sister told me that you were coming to pick stuff up here, and I knew you would be confused on what happened here."she explained. "I know for a fact that you won't make it back to the airport with just Togetaro in time, so I'll use Hypno to teleport you there tomorrow morning. However I do have something to show you."
She said while intriguing me on that last part,
"I can show you what happened to your house."  I nodded my head fast.

I really wanted to know what happened to my mother, and if they hurt her or not.

She sent out Hypno and walked into my house.

"Hypno, use your forewarn ability!"

Suddenly, the house was different. It was like a projection, but it was realistic looking. I saw my mom eating a cookie in the kitchen.

That's when the door was began to get knocked on. "Open up! We know that your in there! Don't make us break into the house!" The men yelled outside.

My mom began to panic as the plate knocked over from the counter. She quickly ran upstairs as the men enter the house. There were 3 of them, all having Aggrons next to them. The aggrons all had numbers on the. They were labeled one, two, and three.

One of the men order, "Aggron 1! Use Metal Sound!" The aggron obeyed and sent a pitched screech towards my mother. The picture on the wall cracked and fell. My mother covered her ears as she ran to my room and locked the door.

She grabbed my pencil and some paper and wrote what I read. She had tears running down her face.

She was clearly scared.

The men yelled, "We can still get you! Aggron 2! Use Hyper Beam! Then, Aggron 3! Use Stealth Rock so she can't escape the room without getting hurt!"
The Aggron looked pained by obeying the orders. However, the leader Aggron which seemed to be labeled one forced them to. So the door busted down and my Badges got knocked down by the door.

"Aggron 1! Use thunder wave and paralyze her so we can take her!"Indeed did the leader obey. He sent a wave and immediately my mother fell on the floor. The men picked her up as the aggrons left the house outside.

The forewarn showed one last event.

It showed what was happening outside. People were running from the Aggrons outside as many of them got Paralyzed, frozen, or trapped by rocks. This scared me. I recognized so many people, all of them taken. I'm sure that they only did this to people who resisted their command as people were seen being watched by Lance's Men. Then, Aerodactlys came carrying baskets to put the people in. One by one the people were placed into the basket, my mom included, and they flew off. Once a peaceful town was now a ghost town. What was weird was that the aggrons outside were also labeled one, two, and three. They had the same moves like the aggrons that took my mom.

That's when the forewarn ended and I was back to the present.

"Gold, I'm so sorry that happened. When I arrived it was too late. I should've at least help your mom and your town." Officer Jenny apologized.

"It wasn't your fault, but now I'm more determined then ever to save my town." I said with a determined look in my eyes.

That's when I told her we should get some rest. She could sleep in my mother's room and she agreed to help me in the name of New Bark City.

So, at 3:00 P.M I went to bed. I turned off my alarm, and set a new one for 7:00 A.M. I'll only get four hours of sleep, but that is fine, as long as I get sleep on the plane, I'll live. I got into bed which had a retro feel to it. I knew that moving forward, things would get a lot more difficult. I promised that I would save my mother and all of my friends and take them to Alola.
