Chapter 36

Hero's POV

3 weeks ago in the Aether...

"Dad!" My son called out to me as he was teleported away.

Notch and I killed the remaining squids that had attacked us, and I stood there in front of the portal worried beyond my wits end about Sky. I couldn't help but feel as though my son was still in danger. My brother walked up to me and placed a comforting hand on my shoulder.

"Don't worry, he'll be fine. He can handle himself Hero," Notch told me before we felt a powerful surge of energy come from out of nowhere.

My brother's eyes widened in shock as he whispered, "Damian.."

I had recognized the energy signature almost instantly as well. That was without a doubt his son Damian. He had been missing for over five hundred years and I had begun to believe that the kid was dead up until the fight with Dawn. But no, he's alive and he's using magic. But compared to last night, his magic wasn't as blood thirsty and dark as it is now...His magic was more- what's the word?...More defensive and caring now..Like when he fought alongside us during the Hybrid Wars...But then again his magic would alternate between what it was last night and what it is now though..

My brother's eyes were still wide with shock before he called for two girls," Bella! May! Come here quickly!" My brother commanded as two girls appeared almost instantly.

One was wearing a black T-shirt and black skinny jeans, gray combat boots, and had blood red eyes and pure white hair. The other had black glasses, an aquamarine turtle neck, light blue skinny jeans, and black combat boots. She also had ice blue hair and deep blue eyes as well.

"I need you two to go to the Sky Army immediately! I believe that someone powerful may be there and if so then I want him brought here. I don't care if you have to threaten him, or endanger someone close to him in order to make him come. I just want him here as soon as possible!" Notch spoke quickly as another wave of powerful energy passed by and all of us were knocked off of our feet.

The two girls got onto their feet quickly, and they were handed something from Notch before they ran off. I thought it was a photo or something. I could tell that something was diffidently off about my brother..If anything, he would've gone after his son himself instead of sending two girls after him without even telling them who he was! It was like he was somebody else or something. Plus Notch should've been happy to see his son so powerful and to be alive if anything..But something isn't right with my brother, I can feel it.

"Are you sure about this Notch? Is this really necessary? What if you're making a mistake here?" I asked my brother trying to find anything suspicious about his response as he started to walk out of the portal room.

"I'm not taking any chances when it comes to that boy..I'm not making a mistake here Herobrine," Notch said as he stepped into the door way of the room before he said,"He's extremely powerful Hero, I'm not going to take any chances when it comes to my son.."

He walked out of the room mumbling to himself. I could barely here make it out but I heard him clear as day though-

"Or that girl he kept alive for so long.."

Damian's (Derp's) POV

Current day three weeks later..

I looked over my shoulder towards the window that was in the room I was in. I narrowed my eyes and stepped into the comfort of the shadows.

It was night time and I was standing guard over Ender, Wither, and Soul as they slept. I couldn't sleep tonight- something just felt off..I saw Soul turn in the blankets of her bed. She was facing me but she was still asleep.

I smiled a little at the thought of her when she was little. The four of us lived together in this large hideout Ender, Wither, and I made when we were like eight years old. Each of us had our own room in case we decided to crash the night there or just wanted to hangout. When we were making it, we made sure that it would have everything a normal hideout would have- bathrooms, TV, living area with games, a kitchen, a spare room which was really convenient now that I think about it..

But we were gathering supplies to stock up on what we already had when I met Soul. She was about four years old, slumped against a tree hugging her knees crying...

Flashback to that day...

Wither, Ender, and I were gathering supplies for the hideout. We had been able to see each other after about five years of being apart and decided to head over to the hideout to spend some time together. I got the job of getting food, Ender had to get ores, and Wither had to get wood and such.

"See you guys in an hour!" I said as we went in three separate directions to get what we needed.

I ran about three chunks away from the hideout and skidded to a stop as I realized how far I was.

'Oops, I guess I ran a bit to far from the hideout..' I thought to myself as I was breathing heavily and looking around at my surroundings.

I had ran into an oak forest and there were plenty of apples and such in the trees along with a dozen berry bushes. I had a huge grin on my face as I started to harvest the fruit. I climbed up a very tall oak tree and tried to balance my way across a pretty thin branch and tried to grab the five apples that were there. I was about to grab one of the apples but then branch broke and I fell back on the ground with a somewhat loud thud. I groaned in pain as I tried to stand up, and winced as I tried to stand on my right ankle.

'Crap, it looks like I sprained my ankle," I thought to myself as I used the tree as support and tried to continue on with what I was doing.

I was about to grab an apple that wasn't so high up when I started to hear someone crying. I looked around but saw no one. I was about to shrug it off as some wood nymphs or something but then I continued to hear it more distinctly. I followed the sound and was shocked to see a little girl all by herself in the wilderness. She had long dark brown hair that went past her waist, somewhat pale skin, and she was wearing a pale gray dress that went down past her knees slightly.

I took a step forward and a twig snapped as my foot made contact with the ground. She lifted her head up quickly at the sound and the both of us just ended up staring at each other for a few seconds before she ran up to me and hugged my legs. I just stood there shocked for a few moments until I realized that my ankle was starting to hurt like Nether again.

"Ow! Mother of freakin Notch!" I said as I jumped a bit and sat down and held my ankle in my hands.

She looked at me with a look of confusion and sadness in her eyes and asked,"Are you okay mister?"

I was biting the bottom of my lip to the point where it drew blood before I said,"Yeah I'll be fine. It just hurts like freakin Nether right now,"

I stood back up and tried to not put too much pressure on it as I said,"Yeah I'll be fine. It just hurts like freakin Nether right now is all."

The little girl went back to hugging my legs and I could hear her crying again. I hugged her back and rested a comforting hand on her head ad tried to calm her down. I picked her up in my arms and started to head back to the others with everything I had gathered. The little girl had her arms wrapped around my neck and was asleep in my arms as I made my way back to the hideout. Wither and Ender were diffidently surprised when they got back...

End of flashback...

We had soon learned that her apparent 'father' had left her there by herself with nothing to defend herself with. She said that he said that he'd be back a few days ago but never did. I had instantly begun to hate Jeremy for what he had done and had made it my goal to protect her. Meeting Soul has changed our lives so much, she's practically like a little sister to me. If anything were to happen to her, I don't know what I'd do. But I'm sure that a lot of people would be dead within a matter of ten minutes.

I allowed a small smile to creep it's way onto my face. Thinking about those kind of memories with Soul always had a way of warming my heart. I walked over to Soul's bed and sat down on the bed. I gently laid her head onto my lap and began to stroke her hair.

I always felt calm when I was with her, she reminds me so much of my mom before she was killed..But that doesn't matter right now. I could soon feel my eyes begin to grow heavy and I struggled to stay awake without dozing off. Before I even knew it, I had fallen asleep.
