"Kevric!" Morila shouted. "No!"

But the damage had been done. Kevric found Morila's hidden meat pile, the one thing he could not control himself on. The shaggy black Wargal looked up and attempted a grin at the scowling figure before him while sitting in the middle of left-over meat scraps.

"How many times do I have to tell you?" Morila whined. "That was for tonight's dinner, Kevric. You. Do. Not. Eat. The. Meat." She sighed, then in a flash fit of anger she swore and kicked the dirt. "Now I have to go hunting."

She turned and walked out, picking up her bow and slinging a quiver of arrows on her shoulders as she went. Kevric dutifully followed slowly behind her. Morila made her way through the maze of rocks and boulders leading down the mountains. She had just placed her foot on a grey rock standing by a sheer cliff when Kevric suddenly made a grunting noise behind her. Quickly glancing back at her friend, Morila gave a small shriek as the rock under her turned, causing her to lose her balance! As she fell headlong over the cliff, she grabbed a small rock jutting outwards, but it crumbled and broke. Kevric quickly grabbed the back of her dark brown shirt before she fell and pulled her back up. Morila clung to him, adrenaline rushing through her from just barely falling to her death from the height of the cliff. A few minutes passed before she shook herself and got up.

"Come on, Kevric." She gave a weak smile before turning and continuing back down the mountains, more carefully this time. Kevric blinked and silently started to follow his friend once again.

Morila stopped at the edge of the forest and gestured to Kevric for him to stay here.

"Sit." She commanded. He obeyed, sitting down with a small plump. "Stay." He responded by laying his head down. She smiled at him, turned, and walked into the seemingly peaceful forest.

Morila had waited a half an hour, sitting in a tree, before spotting a deer. Slowly, she pulled out an arrow, laid it on her bowstring, brought the bow up, aimed, and fired. The arrow gave a small twang as it shot away. Morila knew it was a good shot. The deer raised its head before the arrow sped through his heart, killing him instantly.

Morila gave a quiet grin of triumph before hopping down from the tree and racing towards the tree. She was almost at the deer when she suddenly stopped. Whether it was just instinct or luck, her stopping saved her a lot of pain. An arrow suddenly appeared right before her in a tree trunk, quivering violently.

"Well, well, well." A strange voice said on the right of her, where the arrow had come from. "What have we got here?" A man seemed to materialized right before her a look of dead seriousness on his face. "Poaching deer from the king's forest, are we, miss?"

Morila studied him. He had a longbow and arrows like her own and a multi-colored green-grey cloak.

"You're a...a Ranger!" She gasped.

He gave her a humorless smile. "Yes," He replied and raised his bow with an arrow notched in it at her.
