True Love Waits

The audience was absolute chaos. All ages were packed into the local college's football stadium. In the middle of it all sat a large circular stage with lights, pyrotechnics, lasers, you name it. The evening sky was a deep orange, the sun grazing the treeline as it dipped below. The temperature was almost perfect, the low 60s. It was going to be a picturesque early summer concert, that was for sure. The Problematics were booming in their home town, and were starting to get popular in their state even. They had changed their lineup slightly, Jamie Fritz was still the drummer, Zach Dewitt was the bassist, Cooper Daniels was the lead guitarist, but Alexa had been replaced by Piper Miller, who was the rhythm guitarist. Matt Wilson was still the lead singer, but he played the synthesizer and keyboard more than the guitar. It had been three years since Matt's incident, and they had all changed. Cooper wore a small black fedora, his hair in a buzzcut. Zach had a mod hairstyle, and Jamie had a side swept undercut. Matt was now rocking somewhat of a Bruno Mars inspired quiff. They all sat in a room near the locker rooms. There were a couple couches for them, drinks and snacks were also on a small coffee table. Matt had his arm around a girl with long, wavy black hair with red highlights. She was Matt's girlfriend of two years, Carmen Deanna. They had met in a bar one night when Matt and Jamie were playing an impromptu concert. Since then, she had come to all their concerts and supported Matt and his friends a lot.

"So didn't you guys just move in with each other?" asked Piper, taking a sip of her energy drink.

"Yeah, I finally got most of my stuff into Will's house," answered Carmen, her hand on Matt's chest. "Took some time, especially since her never wanted to help."

The group all laughed together.

"Hey, it's not my fault we're playing concerts all the time." Will said chuckling.

The band's manager, James Gillum walked in urgently.

"Alright guys, its about time to get on stage."

"Copy that, thanks James." said Zach.

The band hopped off the couches, making their way to the door. They walked down a long corridor towards the entrance to the field, a narrow ramp leading onto the stage. The band all got together in a circle, arms on each others shoulders.

"Let's kill it out there guys," said Will, taking a deep breath.

Everyone nodded their heads.

"OORAH" the band yelled together.

The group walked onto the ramp, headed towards the stage. Matt stayed behind, Carmen in his arms.

"Good luck out there, you've got this love." she said, kissing him.

Matt took off his perfecto jacket, wrapping it around Carmen's shoulders. They said I love you to each other, and then Matt ran onto the ramp. The crowd erupted, the band taking their spots. This was their biggest concert yet, and according to their manager, the first of many. They all looked around, the field around them packed full of fans, the stands almost as full. They hadn't sold out, but it was close. Everyone was beaming, seeing how they'd come together. Finally they got into the groove, ready to play the opening song. Matt checked the set list near his mic.
