Broken Promises For Broken Hearts III
THIS IS SUCH A PITY
Present Day
Matt woke up on his couch to the sound of a quiet conversation. He slowly rolled over to look, finding Matthew and Sally standing a couple feet away from him. Matt cursed.
"Oh good, you're awake," said Matthew. "I wanted to ask-"
Sally quickly interrupted Matthew.
"What on earth have you been doing for the past three months?!"
Sally was always protective of Matt, and seeing him like this was killing her.
"Did Cassie really mean that much to you?"
"I loved her!" yelled Matt, slamming his fist on the couch.
"She cheated on you, she didn't love you Matt," said Sally, getting closer to Matt. "She wasn't worth it, you deserve someone better. Stop beating yourself up and get out into the world again."
Matt glared at Sally, reaching for another cigarette.
"I'll go out when I feel like it." he said.
Sally snatched the pack out of his hand, tossing it to Matthew.
"How has this affected your singing?" asked Matthew, holding up the pack.
"I haven't sang since, well, since that night." said Matt, finally calming down.
Matthew pulled two chairs up, sitting down to talk.
"Tell us exactly what happened, we want to help you," said Sally. "We're your friends, Matt. You can trust us."
Four Months Earlier, Forsyth Senior High School Auditorium
The band finished playing Exitlude, the crowd roaring. The entire band sang the song, which really enthused the audience.
"Alright Forsyth, we're gonna take a little break, but stick around for the Encore if you want!" yelled Cooper. "Thanks for coming out tonight."
Cooper wore black chukka boots, black slim jeans, a white short sleeved button up and a black vest. Cooper's brown hair was cut in a short Ivy League style. Jamie came up on and punched Cooper in the arm, smirking.
"Good show tonight, wouldn't you agree?" asked Jamie, wiping sweat from his brow.
Jamie wore black Adidas, black joggers, and a black sleeveless shirt, and his dark brown hair was uncut, coming down to the bottom of his ear.
"I'd say so," said Cooper, taking a sip from his water bottle. "Nice job on Munich Jam."
"You're just saying that cause you got a break." Jamie chuckled.
Alexa and Zach made their way off the stage, finding a quiet place to sit. Alexa wore black combat boots, black leggings, a black V neck t shirt and a white denim jacket. She had long blonde hair, with a slight curl. Zach wore black converse, black slim jeans, and a black t shirt.
"So do you want to go have dinner after the show?" asked Zach.
"It'll be 9:30." said Alexa, giggling.
"So?" he said. "Does that mean I can't treat you to a decent meal?"
"I love you Zach." said Alexa, hugging him.
Matt made his way through the crowd, looking for Cassie. He finally got a glimpse of her, but she was with a student. He didn't recognize him, making Matt a little suspicious. A group of students suddenly surrounded Matt, noticing him after the whole time he snuck by. They were asking him for autographs, pictures, and just about anything. Matt thought he heard a girl ask him for his shirt.
"Excuse me guys, give me a second, I promise I'll be right back to get you your autographs." He said.
When Matt got through, he was greeted by the sight of Cassie kissing the student he saw earlier. Matt's heart almost dropped to his stomach. Cassie turned around, seeing Matt. She had a shocked look, then an apologetic look. Matt began to walk away, but Cassie got up.
"Matt it's not what it looks like." she exclaimed, trying to keep up with Matt.
"Then what was it? Huh?" growled Matt, walking towards the stage.
"Look, Mike's just a friend, I-"
"You kiss all your friends like that?" said Matt, stopping in front of the stage.
Cassie got close to Matt, putting her hand on his chest.
"Matt, I'm so sorry," said Cassie. "It won't happen ever again."
Cassie's voice quivered, but Matt stared straight on.
"You're right. It won't." Matt said. "Goodbye, Cassie."
Matt turned to walk away, but Cassie grabbed his hand.
"F*** off!" he yelled, catching the attention of the other band members and a couple fans.
Cassie ran off, Matt not knowing that would be the last time the two came face to face. He walked onto the stage, tears in his eyes.
"Hey man, are you okay?" asked Cooper, picking up his guitar.
"I'm fine, let's just get this show over with." said Matt, turning on his mic.
The band started their last three songs, the mood having changed a bit.
