Part 2/3 of the mini-arc. Hope you enjoy.

1 week after the fall.

I was in the kitchen cooking some pasta more specifically, spaghetti for everyone at the house.

Tai came around the corner.

Tai: Hey Y/n?

I looked at him. He didn't often come and talk to me directly. He was quite... what's the word. Distant towards me? I mean he never avoided me or anything but he would be rather observing of me.

Y/n: Yes?

Tai: Can I talk to you for a moment?

Y/n: (Smiling) Of course! Let me just put the gas on low and I'll be right there!

Tai: Okay. Quick, it's important.

He turned the corner and faced his room. I put the gas on low and started walking to where we were going to come together.

When I came to his bedroom I saw his room. It was a simplistic bedroom but there were a lot of framed pictures on the walls. I saw Tai sitting on his bed and looking at something.

Y/n: Hello Tai.

Tai: (Looks at me smiling) Hey, (gestures to spot next to him) Come sit here. Oh and lock the door.

I started sweating bullets. "He wasn't going to assassinate me was he?" I went and sat next to him.

Tai: So, How are you finding life in Patch so far?

Y/n: Oh it's actually amazing! There's lots of locals here and good places. Reminds me of a village. Sadly there aren't many Grimm here.

Tai: (Smiles) You sure love killing Grimm don't you?

Y/n: Of course! It's fun!

Tai: Well, since it is a small island there aren't many Grimm. Those that do make it here though are caught by other Huntsman.

Y/n: Hmm... That's fine. I don't mind the peaceful life right now. Its... peaceful.

Tai: Yeah, it's nice. (Looks out window) Sometimes boring though. What about Ruby and Yang? How are they?

Y/n: Umm, they're each great in their own way. Ruby's a great fighter, so Is Yang, I mean she isn't opening up to me at the moment. I can't blame her to be honest...

Tai: She just needs time, Y/n. I know she'll come back stronger from this.

Y/n: Yeah.. Umm, if it isn't too much to ask? Why did you call me up here.

Tai Sighed. He pulled out a picture of her and a woman. They were standing next to each other smiling with A woman with Red highlights putting her arm over Tai.

Tai pointed to the woman.

Tai: Do you know who this is?

Y/n: Is that Summer?

Tai: ...Yeah.

Y/n: Ruby talks about her sometimes. She seemed like an amazing person.

Tai: (Somber Smile) She was. She was an amazing fighter, always putting others before herself. She was special.

Y/n: Like Ruby.

Tai: Yes, and.. that's what worries me.

Y/n: I know what you mean. My uncle feels the same way with me.

Tai: Yeah, and now that she's done what she did at Beacon there's going to be a huge target on her back now.

Y/n: Don't worry, I'll keep her safe.

Tai: I just.. Don't want Ruby to meet the same fate as Summer... (He puts his head in his face as he hunches forward)

He wasnt crying. He was just worried.

Y/n: (Puts hand on his back) I know. I feel the same way.

Tai: I'm just worried you know? I miss her.. I don't even know what I'd do if...

I felt extremely bad. I knew he had lost 2 of his most loved. If I had lost Ruby I wouldn't I what to feel but 2? That would break someone.

Y/n: That's why I'll make sure I do everything in my power to protect her. I promise.

Tai: ...Good. Although I don't want her to... She will probably join the war against Salem.

Y/n: You're talking to me about Salem?

Tai: Qrow told me that you know about all that.

Y/n: Your worried that we will get wrapped up in it?

Tai: Well, will you?

Y/n: It depends.

Tai nodded to himself. Then looked at me.

Tai: You don't want to get mixed up in all that Y/n.

Y/n: I know. But, If my friends are going to fight then I will. If not... I'll leave her alone. (Cracks knuckles) Unless she wants to get catch some of these hands!

Tai smiled.

Tai: You've got a good heart Y/n.

Y/n: Thanks...

Ruby: SOMEONE CALL THE FIRE DEPARTMENT!!!

(Timeskip)

After a long fire later Me Ruby and Tai were at Dinner. We were having Dinner.

Ruby: Then Y/n Killed 10,000 Grimm!

Tai: Wh-Ten Thousand!?

Tai looked at me.

Y/n: U-Uh.. Y-Yes! This.. is. Yes. "What is she talking about?"

Ruby: Then after th-

We heard footsteps near the stair entrance. We looked to see Yang. She had always ate in her room and although she left to go to the bathroom or do some other things.

Tai and Ruby was surprised to see her. I wasn't. Not that I wasn't happy that Yang came down, I was but she still was quite distant to me.

Tai: Yang! It's nice to see you join us for dinner. Have a seat.

She sat down and Tai poured in a bowl of spaghetti for her.

It was silent. We must sat there I was waiting for either Ruby or Tai to make the first move.

Ruby: Hey, Yang. Haven't seen you in a while Hehe.

Yang: Yeah.

Tai: We were just talking about...

Tai didn't want To bring up Y/n because she knew Yang wouldn't want to be talking about him and didnt want to talk about something that reminded her of her severed arm.

Y/n: "Shit what are we going to talk about!? Annoying unskippable ads!? (Glances at missing arm) Bad subject! What about how to tie your shoelaces? (Glances at arm) BAD SUBJECT-"

Ruby: How Y/n single handedly killed off an army of Grimm!

Y/n: "Why does this girl dig me an even bigger grave EVERY TIME!?"

Yang: (Rolls her eyes) Of course.

She grabbed a fork and started eating.

Ruby: So, there he was.. In the forest of forever fall..

Y/n: A-Actually Ruby, how about we talk about the time.. Where Professor Port Came in with his pants on backwards?

Tai: Wait what!? (Laughing)

Yang had a slight smile and Ruby was giggling.

Ruby: But I was going to tell a cool story.

Y/n: "EVERY TIME!"

There was another pause of silence. This time Yang was the first to speak.

Y/n: Actually, what about the time Zwei into a fireball?

Zwei: Ruff! (Yes... Attention... More... MORE.)

Colenal: Cluck. (Shut up).

Tai: What!?

Ruby: Its true! We were on a train and out of nowhere he came in flying and destroyed a Paladin!

Y/n: Don't worry though. Colenal will get a cool moment like that eventually. (Pat's his head)

Colenal: Cluck. (Damn straight).

Tai: Do you kids go on crazy adventures every day at Beacon?

Y/n: Oh you know it. Every day was like, the best.

Yang smiled reminiscing about the old days but still felt abit down that she thought she couldn't do these cool things anymore because of her arm and her team.

Tai: We used to be the coolest at Beacon.

Y/n: Well I bet some of my stories are better than yours.

Tai: Theres no way.

Yang: New recipe dad? This is good.

Tai: Oh, uhh actually, Y/n made it.

Yang looked at me and rolled her eyes. Ruby noticed this and looked at me.

Yang: Of course he did.

Ruby: A... Are you okay?

Yang: (Scoffs)

Me and Ruby looked at each other again. Yang got up.

Yang: Actually... (Gets up) I'm not hungry.

She took her plate and went upstairs.

Y/n: (Sigh)

Tai: Don't worry Y/n.

Ruby: Maybe you should go up and talk to her?

Y/n: I don't think that would be a good idea right now.

Ruby: You should at least try.

I looked down at my spaghetti.

Y/n: Okay. After Dinner I will.

They nodded.

Ruby: You did a great job with this food by the way.

Tai: Yeah, where did you learn to cook?

Y/n: (Eye twitches) Everyday I would have to cook ramen. Spaghetti isn't too different.

After the dinner I had went upstairs. I saw that the door was open surprisingly. Normally it was closed. I had a hot bowl of spaghetti.

Y/n: Hey, Yang. Umm, how are you doing?

Yang: (Coldly) What do you want?

Y/n: I just wanted to talk.

Yang: I'm not in the mood.

I stepped forward slightly.

Y/n: But.. Were teammates.

Yang: Yeah. (Turns to me) So why did you lie to us?

Y/n: What?

Yang: Ruby told me about your abilities and how you were special or whatever. Why didnt you tell us?

Y/n: Its a personal thing. I just didn't want to tell anyone. There's more to it than you kno-

Yang: You could've trusted us!

Y/n: I know... And I was going to eventually. But I don't even know everything about it myself. I barely even use it.

Yang: (Looks at arm) Looks like your using it well. (Turns away) Just... leave me alone.

Y/n: O-Okay. I got you some food.

Yang: I dont want it.

Y/n: That's nonsense. (Places it on cabinet)

Y/n: Your a strong person Yang. Your going to come back better from this. I know your not a quitter.

Yang: ...

I closed the door and went downstairs.

Y/n: "This can't be the end of our team. Theres no way."

4 months after the fall

Ruby: YAH!

She threw a lunging right hand. I stepped back quickly and caught Ruby's hand.

Y/n: Nope.

With her free hand she also tried to punch but I also caught it as well. What we were doing was training Ruby in hand to hand combat as that was one thing she was lacking at. EXTREMELY LACKING AT and Ruby knew it. Especially with how easily I was handling her.

Now.. I was No Yang Xiao Long. BUT I still had a decent understanding on this type of combat. I threw her back.

Y/n: Remember your stance. It helps you keep your balance.

Tai: He's right, Ruby.

Ruby: Grrrr...

She was getting angry. She threw an overhand right which was extremely telegraphed. She lost her balance and I threw a light jab which made her fell over. My breathing was quite heavy.

Ruby: (Groans in pain)

I held out my hand.

Y/n: Don't worry, Ruby. You'll get better.

Tai: Yeah!

Y/n: You also need to use your semblance abit more doing you think?

Ruby: In fights?

Y/n: Well, yeah. If you use it abit more you'll have an advantage.

Ruby: I guess your right, Maybe we should take a break?

She reached out and I pulled it away quickly.

Y/n: Hahahahhaa, Too slow!

She fell down again and groaned while smiling.

Tai: (Laughs) He got you there Ruby! I agree. I want a go. (Cracks knuckle)

Y/n: Oh! (Nervous chuckle) Sure. (Gets in stance) Let's do it.

Yang was looking through the window. She was entertained by the sparring but didn't want to take part because well.. She cant. She liked her sister doing to hand to hand. She just wished she could teach her as well as a sister.

Now she didn't always sit in her room. She still went on and did some shadowboxing. Although that feeling like she would never be the same again. And she was right. She wasn't and she knew it. If she had her arm it would be fine but she would have to overcome what obstacles she had in her way.

Tai went for a jab which made me parry with my right hand but he took advantage of this and threw a left hook which hit me flush. I grunted in pain and straight after he hit me with a right hand which sent me backwards. I had kept my balance though.

Ruby: Come on Y/n! Is that all you've got!?

I got a little annoyed. He hit me good. Very good but I wasn't finished. I jabbed which he slipped and moved past. I saw he had pulled back after I threw my right hand. I instantly pulled back which put mere inches away from his hit. I hit him back which made him grunt and followed with a left hook which he caught.

Tai: That was lucky. You've got a good reaction time.

I smiled. We exchanged blows some of which hit us. I was started to get tired. Especially since I did multiple sparring session in a row and to be honest I wasn't keeping up in my runs lately. I was more being relaxed which wasn't really in my nature but honestly there wasn't much to do.

Tai noticed my fatigue and put the pressure up. He then sent in a few body shots which normally I would be able to block but I was a tad too slow. It had caused him to hit a gorgeous liver shot which made me fall on the ground.

Y/n: (Breathing heavy) Good shot.

Tai: Thanks but I feel like your not going 100 percent.

Y/n: Huh?

Tai: Or your not 100 percent of what you were.

I sighed. He was right.

Y/n: That's true. But didn't you say not to wander off too far from the house?

I threw abit of shade. Tai noticed this and sighed. Ruby knew that I was abit homesick.

Tai: I know. But it is for your own safety.

Y/n: (Turns away from Tai and looks into the forest) I just want to explore again. I just wanna go to new places and do other things you know?

Tai: And you will. But we need to wait. I know that when you get out there you like to do crazy things.

I looked at him.

Tai: Ruby's been telling me all these crazy stories and how you were the "Coolest in Beacon" I don't know how true that is but it doesn't make me feel like you'll be well hidden in public.

Y/n: I Understand.

I accepted what he said. It was true but that didn't mean that I wanted to follow what he said. I could do whatever I wanted.

Tai: Come on. Let's go inside and have some dinner. You must be starving!

Y/n: Heh, you aren't wrong about that.

He started walking towards the house and went inside. Ruby gave me a water bottle.

Ruby: You aren't thinking of leaving right?

Y/n: Not right now.

Ruby: What do you mean?

Y/n: I'm thinking of considering it.

Ruby: But.. You should stay here. With us.

Y/n: (Sigh) I know. But, I've never really liked being in one place all the time.

Ruby: Yeah, but what if you get captured or something?

Y/n: I won't.

Ruby: Yeah but what if you do? If you go alone then you won't have anyone to help.

Y/n: ...

Ruby: I need you here Y/n. I promise we won't stay here for much longer. We'll go to Haven together. Just.. abit longer okay?

Y/n: Fine.

Tai felt this type of way of wanting to keep Ruby at home as well because of the fact she used her silver eyes. Now She had a target on her back like her mother. I'm not too sure but I didn't want anything to do with Salem to be honest. "I just wanted to be with my friends."

I mean I was hanging out with Ruby I guess. Which, I didn't mind. I would've loved getting to see others but I guess I have to stay here. I did want to see my Uncle to be honest. But I knew he was far. He had no idea on what to do to find me. If he knew where I was then he'd be here in a heartbeat. But he didn't. Me and Ruby discussed about Leaving and going to Haven since that's where Qrow liked to hint at. Not that he was being very subtle about it. He wanted to see us get back on our feet. Ruby however had no plans to do so. She till wanted to stay home. I knew she'd come around eventually but I didn't know when.

I sighed and looked to the forest.

Y/n: ...I do miss the adventure..... Maybe a few expeditions wouldn't hurt?

4 and a half months after the fall

I was out at the cliffs. I was killing Grimm while trying to really sharpen up my skills and to make sure that I wasn't rusty when was going to leave soon. I had killed about 20 so far with none left in sight. I was a few miles away from the house even though Tai said not to go out into the "Danger zone" as he liked to call it. I was gone for about 3 hours.

I couldn't help it. I was super bored. I knew Ruby would be the most annoyed because I had left with no notice. And that I was gone for a few hours by now. I just liked the outdoors.

When I made it back. I came in the house quietly and went upto my room. I saw Ruby looking out of our window. When a slight creak in the door was heard she looked at me annoyed.

Ruby: Where were you!?

Y/n: Umm, Hey Ruby.

Ruby: Don't "Hey Ruby" me! Why were you gone for so long!?

Y/n: I just wanted to go and relax outside. Kill some Grimm?

Ruby: Yeah, but you didn't even tell us. I was worried sick!

Y/n: I know what you said. But.. I just wanted to go out to the cliffs. Venture out the whole island.

Ruby: Just tell me before you do that. We could've went together.

Y/n: Yeah, I just miss everything you know?

Ruby: Yeah. I do too.

I sat down on my bed. And just rolled into bed.

Ruby: Do you think we will see the others again?

Y/n: Of course. I'll make sure of it.

Ruby: I wonder how long it will take.

Y/n: Well, other than Blake Maybe a year or two?

Ruby: Maybe... Ugh, I wish we could call them.

Y/n: Comms are down. But, at least we have each other.

Ruby: (Smiles) Yeah. We do. If you weren't here then everything would be alot more boring.

Y/n: Of course! I don't mind beating you in Fung Shoe ninja everytime.

Ruby: Ugh, How did you even get so good at that game so fast. I remember when you first played and you were terrible.

Y/n: Practice makes perfect. Just like training.

Ruby: I guess. (Scratches back on head) Sorry for shouting earlier by the way.

Y/n: Oh, no I understand. It's fine. I would be upset too. Let's just go to sleep.

Ruby: Okay! Wait, How about we watch a movie together today?

Y/n: Ooo, what movie?

Ruby: Hmm... Planet of the Grimm? I hear it's a great movie.

Y/n: Planet of the Grimm? Have I heard that before?

Ruby: I dunno but let's watch! I'll get the TV set up.
