Main Characters of this story
Jessica Cruz the Green Lantern of Coast City
Jessica is a pacifist who is initially reluctant to become a Green Lantern. She actively refuses to physically hit anyone, except for Hal Jordan. She also refuses to accept the idea that her pacifistic ways may not always work.
Jessica's personality is a little complex. She suffers from anxiety and has shown so many signs of it. She is afraid to face social situations. She suffers from post traumatic stress disorder and it sometimes can be dangerous for some situations. She is easily worried and tensed and it can affect her in serious situations. It is difficult for her to be in social situations and she finds it difficult to socialize with others. But when she met Draal, he was there to comfort her in her moments of stress and anxiety. He became her rock she leans on in times of stress.
Draal the Deadly of Arcadia Oaks
Tough, ruthless, arrogant, loyal, prideful, protective, stubborn, skeptic, kind, selfless
Draal is a large, muscular troll with blue skin and a set of big horns on his head. He has two yellow eyes and spiky growths on his shoulders, arms, and back. He wears a ring in his nose, a brown leather kilt with a wide black belt, which has a triangular gold buckle, and green and brown leather wrapped on his right wrist. He also has patterns on his shoulders, chest, and chin.
Draal lost his right arm removing the Amulet from the Killahead Bridge, turning it to stone. He later replaced it with a mechanical prosthetic.
Initially, Draal despised Jim for taking his father's role as Trollhunter, having trained his whole life in the hopes of becoming Kanjigar's successor. He scorned Jim as inferior and weak, until he was beaten by Jim in combat.
But after sparing his life, Draal looked upon Jim with new and more humble eyes and chose to protect Jim and even assist in his training. While maintaining his gruff exterior, he comes to respect and even admire Jim, viewing him a worthy Trollhunter in his own way. Jim and Draal relationship reached up to the point that Jim considered Draal as his surrogate brother, and as a result, Jim confided in Draal more than he did to Blinky or and of his other friends. Draal in return had great respect for Jim and vowed to protect him forever, even at the cost of his own life. Draal also has a high regard for honor, as seen when he was broken emotionally after having broken his vow to protect Jim, while under Gunmar's sway.
Draal was proud and boastful but could be kind and helpful at times. But there is always a flippant aura about him, never really letting him seem too serious.

In the backyard of a house, a young woman watches her husband train their son how to fight. To your surprise, this woman's husband was a troll, but not just any troll, Draal the Deadly, Son of Kanjigar the Courageous, the former Trollhunter. Draal stops as he looks at his beautiful wife, Jessica Cruz, one of the many Green Lanterns of the Green Lantern Corps. He then focused back on his 13 year old son, Drax the Swift, or his human name, Drew. Drax was part human and part troll. He had his father's Speed Force power who's lightning was blue and green. He was also a Green Lantern like his mother.
"Focus on my movements, son." Draal said to Drax.
"Yes father." Drax said as he stands his ground against his father.
Draal and Drax continue train as Jessica watches. Both trolls are giving it their all as they fight against each other. Drax uses his speed and lantern together as he fights with a construct of the Daylight blade.
"Your ring is but an extension of your body, and your body, an extension of your eyes. Your ring's power is only limited by your imagination. Open your mind and focus on what you need in battle." Draal instructed.
Drax feeds on his father's words as he fights back as Draal continues to train his son. Draal then manages to knock Drax off his feet for a moment.
"A real fight is never predictable, son. You have to expect the unexpected and learn to embody the Lantern Ring, WILL it to do what you want." Draal said as he throws lightning blades at him.
Drax quickly constructs a shield as he blocks it and then constructs a cannon and fires at Draal who phases through the cannonball.
"Good. You're learning." Draal said as he continued to spar against his son.
The broad troll moves his spear within the blink of an eye, letting Drax lose his footing. The young troll gasped out when his body spun rapidly, his sword pointed out and his face covered in fear and shock as Draal watched the young troll tumble to the floor as his construct vanished in thin air. Drax moaned in slight pain as Draal pointed the spear head near Drax's exposed neck, declaring the win. The battle was in fact, quick.
"I think I just broke my butt." Drax moaned as Draal kept his weapon pointed at the boy as he spoke.
"Were this an actual battle, son...,"
He swung his sharp tool, startling him enough to back up slightly.
"...you would have just been deprived of your right leg, three fingers...
Not as gentle as Drax hoped he would, Draal smack the blunt end of the weapon against his legs, his fingers, and was about to press it forcefully somewhere else. Panicked that his sensitive spot would have a sudden burst of pain, Drax constructed his sword, stopping the blunt end from traveling any further.
"...and your gronk-nuks." Draal added.
"Sorry, I guess I'm just a little distracted tonight." Drax said.
He stood up, thinking such a battle was over, however, Draal used the distraction to take another hit. Drax rolled to the other side and once again blocking his blows. Yet, he was still defeated when Draal's immeasurable arm took Drax down once again after sweeping him off of his feet and back onto the ground.
"Your enemies will use your distraction as an opportunity to cleave your head from your shoulders. They won't go easy on you because you're a kid. They'll kill you with the chance they'll get." Draal said to his son.
Drax's expression was slightly upsetting. His eyes were huge, his eyebrows slanting profusely as his lips curved into a shocked, and distracted frown.
"Oh..." Drax said not feeling any better.
"What has you distracted this night?" Draal asked.
He held out his hand in an offering manner which Drax simply grabbed as he was peeled from the grassy plain.
"You wouldn't understand, dad." Drax said.
A slight growl came from Draal's stone lips as he threw Drax to the other side, pressing him back into the ground and his arm pinned behind his back.
"I am the son of the former Trollhunter and your father, son." Draal reminded him.
"I'm worried that I'll never get to be like you." Drax said while being pinned by his heavy muscled dad.
"Oh..." Draal said as he got off of his son and pulled him up and sat him on a rock.
"What do you mean exactly?" Draal asked as he sat down as well.
"I'm just scared that I won't live up to the legacy you'll leave behind. What if I fail you, dad." Drax said starting to worry.
"I understand son. When my father became to the Trollhunter, I wanted to follow his path and become the Trollhunter when he died. But while he was the Trollhunter, he distanced himself from me. He didn't really spend time with me. And when Jim became the next Trollhunter, I was furious to see my father's legacy was stolen from me. But I soon had to accept that as I saw Jim was able to do what my father or any of the past Trollhunters couldn't accomplish. The point is, whatever you choose to be, whether it's to follow my legacy or make your own... I'll be there for you and proud of you." Draal said.
"Thanks dad. That made me feel better." Drax said as he hugs his father.
"I'm always here for you, son. Now get washed up and get ready for bed." Draal instructed.
(Draal as a youngling with his parents)
As soon as Drax was back inside the house, Jessica walked up to her husband.
"Well, that went well I think." Jessica said.
"I hope so. I don't want Drax to lose himself or get hurt out there. I just hope I don't make the same mistakes my father did when he was the Trollhunter. I don't want to distance myself from my son." Draal said to his wife.
"You won't. You're not a Trollhunter and therefore you're not gonna make that mistake. I know you're gonna be a great father to our kid." Jessica said.
"Thank you, Jess." Draal said feeling better.
"Hey, why don't we go out together. Like a date." Jessica said.
"Hmmm... I don't know. We haven't done something like that in... a long time. Not since Drax was born." Draal said unsure about this.
"Oh come on, Big Blue. It will be a great time for the both of us. We can enjoy some "alone time" together in the city. What say you?" Jessica said.
"Hmmm..." Draal mumbled as he thinks about it.
Later on, Draal and Jessica were dressed up as they were heading out. They called Kanjigar to babysit Drax while they spend some time together.
"I hope you two enjoy yourselves and stay safe." Kanjigar said.
"We will, father." Draal said as he and Jessica head off into the city.
Draal then shifts into his human form as he and Jessica go through the city together as the couple they are. Closer to the evening they decided to get some dinner. Jessica took him to her favorite steakhouse. She ordered the food for both of them, as Draal was unsure of what to order, having never really eaten human food. She ordered him a medium rare steak with a side of mashed potatoes.
Draal poked at the steak. "What is this meat?"
"It's steak, made from a cow." Jessica who ordered the same thing, cut into the steak to eat it.
"Why is it cooked?" Draal asked.
"Because us humans can't eat raw meats, it can make you sick. That's the rarest they would do it, so just try it." Jessica explained.
She had to laugh when Draal tried to pick the entire thing in his hand and eat it like a barbarian. She figured he would have difficulty using both utensils, so she helped him by cutting the steak for him. Then she had a scare when he tried to swallow a morsel whole. After saving him from choking she told him it would be much easier if he CHEWED his food. That's the main reason human teeth were flat.
"Hmm it's a lot like cat, but much more tender. Not as stringy. I like it." He said between bites.
He was unsure if what to make of the potatoes, they had almost no substance, but they had good flavor.
When it was time for dessert, Jessica took to ordering for them both again. She wondered how his reaction would be to the chocolate cake. Again he poked at it unsuredly before sticking his fork into the cake to take a bite. Jessica couldn't help but stare at the elation that filled his face, the joy of the pure rich sugary goodness of the cake. It certainly was a sight to behold, one she would never forget.
They then began to chase each other through the city as the moon shines. Soon Jessica lost track of Draal and panicked.
"Draal? Draal! DRAAL!" Jessica shouts as she soon saw him hanging above her on a rooftop.
"So, you do care about me that much." Draal chuckled as he stomps down.
"Oh, I hate you." Jessica said chuckled with a little anger.
"Awww, you're hurting my feelings, my Emerald. Follow me." Draal said as he jumps down the hole.
Jessica then jumps down as she sees it was an old abandoned theater. She looks around to see the place dusty and in ruined. She spots Draal sitting on the center stage as she joins him.
"What is this place?" Jessica asked.
"Just a place I like to go to find peace and quiet. I found this place during one of my patrols. It helps me focus and find myself." Draal explains.
"Nice, and... I sense there's more to why you brought me here." Jessica said getting suspicious.
"I've prepared something for you. But I'm not so sure. I don't want to mess it up." Draal said.
"You know, someone once told me that failure is not your enemy, your fears are." Jessica said.
"That's right. So, I'm prepared to make a fool of myself." Draal said as he got up.
Jessica turns to see him pull off a cloak off an old dusty piano.
"And you need a piano for that?" Jessica laughs a little.
"A gift. For you, my Emerald Lantern in the night." Draal said as he prepared himself.
Draal sat down as he began to play the piano in a nice melody as more of the stage is revealed. Stars and a moon shine above on the stage.
Draal:
🎶Can't believe
The world that you've revealed to me
For the first time I feel truly free
It's all thanks to you🎶
Draal continues sings as he plays the piano in a nice melody that makes Jessica join in on the singing.
Jessica:
🎶I feel the same
You pushed me through the doubt, the pain
And as our paths collide again
I know what to do🎶
Jessica then hears the piano stop as she looks up to see Draal hanging on the moon with his hand held out for her to take.
Draal:
🎶Take my hand🎶
Jessica smiles as she takes his hand and they get pulled higher in the air as they hold each other's hand. As this happens, they can feel their love towards each other.
Together:
🎶As we stand
Let's face the world
There is nothing that can defeat us
Day and night🎶
The next thing you know, they're on a rooftop looking at the beauty of the city in the young night.
🎶You and I
Let's show the world
That nothing will come between us, Whoah🎶
Draal then pulls Jessica off as they both fall down only to use their powers to fly off as they soar in the air as Jessica flies with Draal creating lightning platforms in the air to keep up with his wife.
Jessica:
🎶Thanks to you, I've become
Confident to know I am free🎶
Jessica then leaps high in the air as she flies around in the air as have landed on one of the roofs as Draal follows her. They continue to goof around.
🎶When I feel overrun
It's no longer all on me🎶
Jessica and Draal began to play around with each other as she hides in Draal's blind spot. She then flies to another rooftop as she hides behind a chimney from Draal who looks for her.
🎶Hearts and minds now combined
I am stronger, when you're by my side🎶
Draal chuckled as he jumps behind the chimney to jumpscare her only to see her gone. Confused, he looks around as he then sees her fly away to be under a bridge. Draal smirks as he follows.
Draal:
🎶I can share all my cares
You've laid bare my deepest flaws🎶
Draal then swings down as they stand on a platform construct Jessica creates. Teasing her, she then pushed him off, making him fall into the water.
🎶You caught me unaware
Now my fate is tied with yours🎶
They then began to jump off building to building as they make their way through Coast City with the night still young and lights shining brightly.
🎶Hearts and minds now combined
I am stronger, so stay by my side🎶
Draal and Jessica run up a wall as they jump into the air. Draal whips her higher as she catches him with a lasso she constructs and whips him higher than her. Draal then creates a lightning lasso as whips her to him as they spun in the air and landed on a cloud.
"You saved the world everyday with your mask and ring, but the woman behind it, saved my heart. Gave me the love I thought I'd never get." Draal said, touching Jessica's heart with his words.
Jessica:
🎶What is this feeling now?
I cannot fall for him
His eyes move me somehow
I shouldn't start something🎶
The troll and meta-human began to dance around in the air as the moon shines brightly in their area. As they did, it felt like they were the only ones in the whole world. As if time was standing still for them.
Draal:
🎶I know that look
Dancing between those eyes
It is the same one I've
Tried to disguise🎶
Draal leaned down and planted his lips on Jessica's lips, in a soft kiss. He cupped her chin then pulled her close. Jessica closed her eyes and pressed her head to his chest, listening to his beating heart.
"Well... this is a night to remember forever." Jessica said while cuddled in his big, stone, muscled arms.
"Indeed it will be." Draal said as he holds onto Jessica tightly as if he doesn't want to let go.
"We should do something like this again, Blue." Jessica said looking up at his face.
"Totally, but... we should head back home. My father and Drax is probably worried about us." Draal said.
"Yeah... race you home!" Jessica said as she bolts off into the air back home in a green blur.
"Hey! No cheating!" Draal laughed as he sped off in a blur of blue lightning.
