8 - Friends pt. 2

When you're screaming, but they only hear you whisper

I'll be loud for you

******

I furiously knock on Sunset's door. Panting, I lean my back against the door. It was 7:00 P.M. already, and I had to haul ass to my house to get a few things after staying in school. I am one hour late for my friends again.

Oh, who am I kidding they're used to me being late all the time.

Soarin arrived at the pool 30 minutes late, so I had to clean alone for 30 minutes. His excuse was that his group members for the cooking subject called him to plan the upcoming cake presentation in their class. It took us too much time to clean the pool area because it was 25 meters long.

I'm now right here in front of Sunset's apartment, wheezing tiredly because I ran 1 mile to Sunset's house. I had my motorbike fixed yesterday, so I had to bring my car here. But, there wasn't any parking space left near Sunset's apartment so I had to find a parking lot that I don't need to pay for. That parking lot was 1 mile away from Sunset's apartment so I was like, fuck it.

I hear a sudden click, and before I knew it, I fall backwards on my butt as the door I was leaning on opens. I groan in pain as I stand up and I turn around to see Sunset smirking.

"I'm not that late am I!?" I ask frantically.

"Get in, Rainbow Dash." She replies, smiling and rolling her eyes. I run inside, carrying my bag and Sunset closes the door behind us. As I walk in, I notice the bored expressions on their faces. Rarity was sitting on the loft, leaning her back on the bed and using her phone. Applejack and Twilight were both sitting on the stairs. Fluttershy was on the video game console, and Pinkie Pie was watching the pizza boxes intently.

Twilight glances at me and asks, "What took you so long?"

"Yeah, Dashie! I wanted to eat the pineapple pizza already but Sunset was like, 'No, we have to wait for everyone!' and now that you're here I can finally eat this delicious pizza!" Pinkie says, scrunching her eyebrows and pouting.

I smile apologetically, "Sorry, girls, detention called and I had to clean and mop the pool area-"

Rarity cuts me off, smirking, "-Just you?"

I glare at her, "with Soarin of course."

They all snicker at my reply. "Not that I'm being nosy but why does it seem like you have to be with Soarin for the entire day?" Fluttershy teases, not taking her eyes away from the screen in front of her.

I groan, "I already told you guys, Vice Principal Luna was observing us which is so not cool which brought us to the point where she is forcing us to be friends with each other."

Twilight chimes in, "Fake it til you make it, Rainbow. It's not that bad, Soarin seems cool."

"Also it ain't that difficult to be friends with Soarin, I had him for wood-shop today, he was a nice guy and even helped me out with stuff." Applejack adds.

"I know right!? I had him for drama class! He was awesome, Dashie!" Pinkie agrees.

I stare at them confusedly, "I-i-"

Sunset elbows my arm, "Oh, come on, Rainbow, you're the only person here who's not friends with Soarin yet."

"Technically we are friends, I told him that if he wanted this week to be over with we have to just fake being friends." I reply and they all groan.

"Look, rainbow, what's making it difficult for you two to genuinely be friends?" Twilight asks.

"Maybe it has to do with the fact that Rainbow is just trying to avoid her feelings for Soarin." Rarity teases, not taking her eyes off her phone.

I glare at her again, "Shut up, Rarity, what feelings!? I don't have those and I'm not sappy!"

"Whatever helps you sleep at night, darling." Rarity taunts, rolling her eyes.

"Guys! Pineapple! Pizza!" Pinkie pouts, crossing her arms with pizza on her mouth.

"You can eat them all, Pinkie, take the whole box if ya want" Applejack replies.

"Hey! I like pineapple pizza too!" Twilight, scowling at Applejack.

"Seriously, Twilight? Out of all the people it really had to be the smartest to like Pineapple pizza." I sneer.

"First of all, it's scientifically proven that pineapple and pizza are perfect together, second, that just proves you guys are idiots." Twilight snidely comments.

"Ha! Me and Twilight are the smartest, right, Twilight!?" Pinkie says, yelling on Twilight's ears, and hugging Twilight.

"Yeah..." Twilight trails off, pushing pinkie away and gives her a sarcastic smile, patting her shoulder.

The conversation was followed by silence, not long enough before Sunset breaks the silence. "So what do we do now?" Sunset asks.

"I thought you'd ask that," Rarity replies, smirking, and puts her phone on-screen share with Sunset's TV, disconnecting Fluttershy's game.

"Hey! I was playing!" Fluttershy glares at Rarity, taking the headset off.

"Not anymore." Rarity derides, smiling smugly at Fluttershy before shifting her attention to the TV, "I made a schedule for the night, and of course, no homework tomorrow."

"Excuse me, that's my job!" Twilight bleats, pouting as she crosses her arms.

Rarity ignores Twilight, "Okay so we have the pizzas ready, the drinks, chicken nuggets, the chips, and the dips?"

Pinkie pulls out a container out of her bag, "Salsa, Cheese, and Sour Cream!"

"Then we're done here." Rarity says. "The following activities we're going to-"

"Can we just stop planning and just do whatever we can think of?" I whine.

"Rarity what's first on the list?" Sunset asks.

"UNO...?" Rarity replies hesitantly.

"That sounds fun!" Pinkie beams.

"It's boring." Applejack interjects.

"Okay, what else can we play then?" Sunset asks with a smile that looked like she was going to murder everyone in the room. We all look at each other and shrug.

"Well," Rarity speaks suddenly, "We have been invited to a party."

Pinkie gasps, "You're right!" Pinkie takes her phone out her hair and waves it in front of us, "Photo Finish is having a party, in 7!"

I raise a brow, "People are throwing parties at this time?"

"No, silly! 7 means 8!"

"How does 7 mean- Whatever, I don't care."

"So do we go to that party?" Twilight asks, looking nervous.

"We have to!" Rarity aggressively retorts. She runs down the stairs, wearing a black one-shoulder sequin mini dress and black ankle strap heels.

"Where did you get that?" Applejack asks with a nonplussed look on her face.

"I always come prepared, darling." Rarity replies, winking at Applejack and Applejack rolls her eyes.

"Okay, what if we go to this party, but sleep here? We're just going to go and snitch on everyone violating the CHS handbook!" Twilight suggests excitedly.

We all glare at her, "Stop being a snitch!" We all shout and she crosses her arms and pouts.

******

Me and my friends walk through the crowd of teenagers dancing and singing to the Electronic Dance Music being played be the DJ. Photo Finish hosted her party at her house. Her house had a modern contemporary architectural style. Full glass windows were everywhere. Disco lights and lasers were glaring everywhere. Empty red cups and bottles on the table. It was just exhausting to look at.

I wonder why nobody has called the cops on this party yet. I mean, if my other neighbor throws a party I would.

Me and my friends stand and stare at everyone dancing. Pinkie was already bobbing her head to the music. We watch her run towards the DJ booth where DJ Pon-3 was. Sunset sees Trixy and waves her hand and runs toward her.

"I'm- going to step outside, find the backyard or something," Fluttershy says.

"Right behind ya Fluttershy!" Twilight exclaims, tagging along her.

"This is quite..." Rarity grits her teeth and cringes, "inappropriate."

I glance at Rarity and roll my eyes, "Of course it is, this is a teenage party."

"Well, Imma go get a drink." Applejack informs, "Y'all coming?"

"Fine." I shrug. Me, Rarity, and Applejack walk towards the table where the food is. A few steps before we got near to table, a group of people dancing, knocking each other out and I groan "Can we just go somewhere else? Anywhere but here?" I suggest.

"Yeah, how about no." Rarity smiles, and she walks away from me and Applejack. Me and Applejack both roll her eyes as we watch her walk up the stairs when some boy called her.

"Well do you want to go, Applejack?" I ask boredly.

"Nope, I hate it in here."

"Finally, I wanna leave this place already." I say, sighing in relief. I turn my back and walk towards the exit, ready to leave the party but also thinking if I should stay.

Well, what the hell am I staying for exactly?

"Wait!" I hear a shout from behind me and a hand suddenly grabs my wrist. The person pulls me a bit, and I slightly stumble back. I whip my head to look at the person.

Oh. It's him.

My eyes met Soarin's and I smile slyly. He was wearing a black shirt and over it was a black blazer.

I let out a heavy sigh, "Didn't know you were here."

He grins, "Well, why wouldn't I be?"

"Well, I thought you'd do your homework."

"We have no homework, Dash."

"Well, whatever. Me and Applejack are about to ditch this place. What were you going to say?"

He stares at me for a second, "Can't you guys stay longer?"

"Well, I can stay longer. Even though I hate this place, might as well keep an eye on Pinkie Pie or Rarity before they go missing." Applejack replies. "Don't know about Rainbow Dash, though."

I shake my head, "Oh no, I'm ditching this-"

Soarin cuts me off, "Oh come on, Rainbow Dash. We're friends, right? Let's do something we actually enjoy for once." He pleads, wrapping am arm around me and my jaw drops.

Applejack smiles and was immediately replaced with a glare, "bring Dash back to her home before 1, or i'll make sure your-"

I glare at her, "Applejack, you're not my mother!" I feel my face heating up and Soarin was trying not to laugh.

Applejack grins, "I was just kidding, you two have fun."

"Of course, Applejack," he gives her a smirk, "I wouldn't let missy here slip from me that easily."

"Well, whatever, I'll leave you two now." She waves us off and we watch her go into the crowd. I suddenly realize that Soarin still has is arm around me and I remove it, glaring at him.

"What?" He asks, a lopsided grin stretching on his face.

I sigh, rolling my eyes, "Nothing. I'm going to get a drink." I walk towards the food table again, grabbing a red cup and I pour a purple looking juice in the cup. As I was about to drink it, Soarin suddenly slaps the red cup from my hand, making it spill all over the floor. I glare at him, "What the hell!?"

"Don't drink that!" He scolds, his eyes narrowing.

"Why not!?"

"You know that drink's spiked right?" I give him a dumb look and stare at the drink that spilled on the floor. I then look around the people dancing, they seem pretty hyped up than usual.

I groan, "Fine, but I'm thirsty, what should I drink then?"

"If you ever will go to a party, why don't you try to bring your own drink." He holds a bottle of coke up and shakes it on my face and I swat his hands away and roll my eyes.

"Yeah, yeah." I say, snatching the bottle from him and drinking straight from it. I hand the bottle back to him and looks at me blankly, and sighs exasperatedly as he takes it from my hands, drinking from it too. Even though we just decided to be friends like 8 hours ago, I feel less tense with him.

"Why don't you want to get drunk?" I ask him suddenly and he stares at me.

"Why would I want to get drunk?"

"Well, it's not like you're always out of your mind." I shrug, "It's just for a night."

"Oh, yeah? Do you know how many people get into accidents while drunk?"

I smirk, "You're just a pussy."

"I'm not."

"Admit it, pussy," I say, narrowing my eyes at him.

"I'm. Not. A. Pussy-"

My smirk grows wider, "Pussy."

"You're just using reverse psychology on me, you thought I wouldn't catch up on that huh?" He retorts, narrowing his eyes too.

"You're a pussy, Soarin. We both know that."

"Shut up, Dash." He glares at me as he takes a red cup. He grabs the closest bottle of gin and pours it on the cup, and chugging it in 5 seconds. He squints his eyes close then grits his teeth. "Fuck." He curses under his breath, his voice seething and he slams the red cup on the table.

I stare at him with my jaw agape, "D-did you just pour that gin right down your throat!?"

He shakes his head and laughs, "Yeah, wussy." He replies and I glare at him whilst grinning. I take the red cup he was using and pour the gin right into the cup and chug it right down my throat. I grit my teeth and laugh, "Ha! You were saying!?"

"Oh my god, you just did that!" Soarin beams, the corner of his mouth stretching wider. He snatches the red cup from my hands. He fills in the cup quarter way with the punch, and grabs another bottle of gin, pouring it on the cup until it was flowing. He places the bottle back on the table and he indulges the beverage.

As he finally finishes the drink, I snatch the cup from him and he grins at me. "That was amazing!" I lick my lips, doing exactly what Soarin did with the alcohol, and I consume it quickly. "Wanna try something harder than that?"

His eyes widen, "Are you really trying to get drunk?"

I smirk, tip-toeing on his height as I cup my hand on his cheeks. "Are you a wussy, Soarin?" I ask, taunting him.

His face turns red and he laughs, slapping my hand away. He leans up close to my face, and I stumble back as my face heats up. "You're reckless, Dashie."

I glare at him, "Oh yeah?"

A grin stretches on his face, "Yeah."

I smirk smugly, "You're on!"

Soarin's POV

"Chug! Chug! Chug! Chug!" The people around us all cheer. Me and Rainbow Dash both chug some sweet-tasting liquor continuously being poured into a funnel attached to two tubes with the ends of the tubes are on our mouths.

Rainbow Dash dragged me into a group of people playing Jenga. I thought it was just normal Jenga, but it had some dares written on it. Rainbow Dash apparently got a block where she drinks a full bottle of liquor. But she didn't want to do it alone because she thinks it's not fun. So some guy suggested this thing for drinking and told Rainbow Dash to choose whoever she wants to drink the liquor with.

Of course, she chose me, I mean, why wouldn't she?

We both finish at the same time and the people who have gathered around to watch us all applaud by shouting and clapping. I recoil to the burning sensation I felt right on my throat. I force my eyes close, trying to take in the sensation. I then open my eyes, feeling a little dizzy as my eyes were trying to stay open. I start to see things groggily, and I shake my head to keep myself from staggering.

I see Rainbow Dash grinning at me, her eyes half-lidded. Her face was already as red as a tomato. Her hair was disheveled. We both stare at each other for I don't know how long and she suddenly starts to giggle.

I raise an eyebrow, "What are you laughing at?"

"You... look like an... apple." She replies between her giggles.

"No..., you look... like an apple," I say, giggling as well.

She scrunches her nose, "No, I don't."

"Yes you do."

I laugh, standing up from my seat and stumbling back. I force my eyes to stay open as I try to keep myself balanced. The room was slowly spinning around me and my body feels heavier. I feel some force on me, trying to make me lie down. I watch Rainbow Dash stand up too and she stumbles towards me and she falls on my arms as I quickly catch her. She starts to giggle again and looks up at me with drowsy eyes.

"I'm... curious... Soawin..." She says, slurring, "You're so mean to me but... you're... always here with me."

Damn, she has low alcohol tolerance.

"Why, Dash? Do you want me to stay away from you?" I ask, an amused smirk creeping up on my face.

Her eyes widen, "No! You said we're friends!" She grabs the collars on my blazer, "You can't," she suddenly coughs, "stay away from your friends!"

My smirk drops and I look at her confusedly, "We are...?"

Her eyes soften, looking like she was about to cry, "Y-you mean, we're not friends?" Tears suddenly flow down her face and she buries her face on my chest, crying on my shirt.

"N-no, we are friends, Dash," Holy shit, a girl is crying on me. What do people do in situations like this!? I stroke her hair, trying to comfort her, "We're friends, Rainbow Dash, I was joking." I look down on her, checking if she was still crying, "...Dash?"

She starts to sniff me, "You...smell nice...hihi..." She looks up at me again, her cheeks freshly stained with tears, "You smell nice, you're nice and you're hot..." She giggles again, leaning in close to my face, "How is that humanly possible?"

"W-what?" I could feel my cheeks burning, "Dash, you're drunk. Let's go home."

She suddenly pushes me from her, "You're boring!" She grabs my hand and starts to pull me to the dance floor, "Come on, Soarin, let's dance!"

Once we got to the dance floor, she starts to sway her hips with her head swaying too. She moves one arm above her head, swaying it as she moves it down and moves her other hand up, switching both of them along with the music. She was dancing like no one's watching, even though she didn't care, she still looks like an angel even with her drunk dancing.

I've never seen her smile like that before, she had a wide grin on her face that looked like sunshine. It was contagious. I realize I was smiling too. She suddenly stops dancing, and looks up at me, her magenta eyes suddenly filled with mischief and glistened. She pulls my hand, making me stumble near her.

"Do you think I'm just gonna let you stand there?" She asks, her lips forming into a sinister smile.

I chuckle, "Well, I thought you would."

"Just shut up, Soarin." She drops my hand and starts to move each of her shoulders up and down lightly, pushing her arm with every movement and a little bend on each knee. I mimic her movement, syncing with her and the music. We both nod our heads as the bass drop was near, we both grin at each other and we both jump as the bass dropped.

"Rainbow Dash!" I yell and she looks up at me while she was dancing, "Aren't you tired yet? It's 1 A.M. already!"

The music suddenly changes and so did Dash's mood. She groans, "Well, I am now." She replies as she walks away from the dance floor and looks at her in confusion. She takes a red cup and grabs the bottle of liquor, looking at both of them, then she drinks from the bottle, throwing the red cup away. I gape at her as she drinks from the bottle and I quickly snatch the bottle from her.

"Hey! Give it back!" She glares at me as she tries to take the bottle. I put a hand on her forehead, pushing her back.

"No." I say sternly.

She groans, leaning on the table, and crossing her arms like a five year old, "You're such a buzzkill."

I chuckle, "I know. Now I'm going to take you to Sunset's place."

She whips her head at me and gives me puppy eyes, "What? I thought we're going home!"

"I'm going home, you will continue your sleepover with your friends." I reply, pointing to myself and her.

She stomps her foot sits down on the floor, a pout forming on her lips. I chuckle again, this girl is something, alright. "Come on, Rainbow Dash, there's another party waiting for you."

"No." She says stubbornly and points at the bottle I was holding, almost empty, "I want that!"

"You want to have this?" I ask her and she nods furiously, I drink what's left in the bottle and smile after, "Sorry, it's gone now."

She groans again and grabs my leg, shaking it, "Soarin, get me another bottle."

"I don't think they have anymore of it, Dash," I reply honestly, glancing at the empty bottles on the table. She shakes my leg again and clings on it. I sigh, "Come on, Sunset has the same thing at her place."

She looks up at me with those puppy eyes again, "She does!?"

Lie. "Y-yes."

"Then let's go!" She beams, quickly standing up from her spot but falls and I quickly catch her on my arms again. She giggles, "Sorry."

I shake my head, lifting her back up, "Did you have fun?" I ask sarcastically and she smiles at me brightly, "Yep!"

*******

"So where is Sunset's again?" I ask Rainbow Dash as we were both in the car, and I was already driving outside the neighborhood. Rainbow Dash flinches as I ask her and she blinks after staring at me for I don't remember how long since we got in my car. An hour ago her friends asked her if she wanted to go to Sunset's but she was clinging on me like it was a life or death situation. Her friends just told me to bring her home and I said I'll bring her to Sunset's.

"Uhhh..." She interjects, looking away, "Just go to the city, and there's this, uhm, street with apartments, oh wait, do you know where Rarity's boutique is!?"

I stare at her in confusion before shaking my head.

"It's in the city, oh wait, you know those street art right? Of course you do, you won't miss it, it's around that street!" She chatters, pointing a finger at me, smiling to ear to ear, and looks back at the windshield in front of us. I let out a chuckle, she is so cute.

After driving for 15 minutes, we were finally in the city. We both sat in silence, neither of us talking. Rainbow Dash seems to be out of the zone or the entire 15 minutes, she would sometimes fidget with her hands and hair, or she would dart her eyes everywhere. She would sometimes steal glances and looks away when I glance back at her.

"Soarin?" She asks suddenly, interrupting my train of thought.

I raise a brow, not taking my eyes off the road, "Yeah?"

"Why is it called building if it's built?"

I choke out a laugh and put my hand on my mouth, "What?"

She glares at me, "Why are you laughing!?"

"I'm not laughing, I'm just, I saw something funny." I reply, muffling my laughs under my hand.

"Oh, yeah, really? I bet you're laughing at my face right now!" She retorts, crossing her arms.

"No, I'm laughing at those, uhhh." I look outside, trying to think of something to answer. I spot a couple making out on a corner, "those two couples right there, haha! pretty funny, right!?"

She glances up at the couple and stares at them. I hit the brakes when the stoplight switches. She has two minutes to stare at them before we cross the road. The light turns yellow and green again and I continue driving. Rainbow Dash shifts her stare at me. After a few minutes, Rainbow Dash did not take her eyes off me, and I pull up in front of Sunset's apartment.

Rainbow Dash did not seem to notice this and I clear my throat. "Rainbow Dash?"

She lifts her hand and places it on my cheek, I give her a confusing look. What is she trying to do!? She gives me those half-lidded, seductive eyes, a smile forming on her lips as she slowly leans up to me. I internally panic. I know I tried to kiss her one time as a joke, but I will not let her kiss me just because she's drunk.

She was almost close to my face, we were inches apart as she moves my neck, pulling me close to her. "We're here, Rainbow Dash!" I suddenly yell out loud and she blinks at me, blushing furiously.

"W-what?"

"Y-yeah! We're here at Sunset's place!" I laugh nervously, looking away at her. I swing the car door open, running up to the passenger's side where she was sitting and I open the door for her. Her face still bright red, avoiding my eyes. I offer a hand at her, smiling nervously. She takes my hand and steps off the car, still avoiding eye contact.

We both walk towards the door, hearing the muffled party music behind the door. I knock at the door, which Sunset quickly opens and grins at us, "Oh hey! Thanks for giving her a ride!" She looks at the both of us, noticing Rainbow Dash blushing furiously and me giving her an anxious smile. I push Rainbow Dash to her, making her yelp, and Sunset catches her, looking at me confusedly. "I'm going to pretend nothing happened." She says with a smirk.

My eyes widen and I furiously shake my hands, "W-what? N-nothing happened! I swear-"

She cuts me off, holding the knob with Rainbow Dash, who was still avoiding eye contact wit me, on her other arm, "Yeah, okay, goodnight Soarin!" She waves me off before closing the door and I stare at the door in front of me.

Way to go, Rainbow Dash.
