Protect You

Vivian's POV

"I am leaving. I never want to talk to you after this..... No can get to know." I hear his voice as I slowly wake up.

He was again talking to someone on the phone. He sounded so angry.

"I don't think you need to worry where I got the money from. ...... How could you even think I would steal from her!?" He stops talking for a few minutes.

I ignore and try to get back to sleeping. Then he starts talking after some time.

"Hey Alec." He starts. "I sold my car. Can you pick me up?... I will be waiting-"

"Talk outside." I mumble into the pillow. I turn to look at him, the bright light in the room.

"I'm sorry, amour." He comes up to me and kisses my forehead. Then he leaves the room.

I try to get back to sleep, but I was already up.

Ugh! So I throw out the blanket and get up.

Then it registers that Sebastian left the house.  Getting into the bathroom, I take a shower.

My thoughts go to my parents. I think I should go and talk to them. Maybe this time they might be more willing to listen.

Thinking such, I get dressed and leave the house. While grabbing my keys, I notice Sebastian's keys are gone-

He sold his car!

Clearly he needed the money. But for what?

I should call him. But he was in a hurry to go, so maybe it's important.

I will talk to him tonight then. With that I drop a message to his phone, telling him where I'm going.
--------------------

"Good afternoon, Miss Vivian." The head Butler open the door, Winston looks pretty old now. He has been working for the family since before I was born.

"Hello. Is my mother home?" I ask, getting inside. The last time I was here, the place was in party mode. Now it was back to normal. But normal for The Jackson's is nothing short of extravagance.

"She is. I will inform her now." He states and leaves me in the main hall.

I settle on the couch, as a maid comes with a glass of water. Thanking her, I take the glass, which shocks her.

She turns around to leave when I call her out.

"Marie, how's Joe doing?" I never talked to these people, yet I liked keeping tabs on their lives. It made up for my story time. Though now I think differently.

"He's doing good, madam." She answers timidly.

"He should be four years old now, right?" I ask.

"In a week." She answers.

"I-"

"Please excuse us." Comes the voice of Mrs Jackson, who stands on the top stair.

Marie rushes out as I get up.

"Fancy seeing you here." Mothers comes down.

"I...I wanted to mend things." I say. "Rather, I wanted to know whether you were ready to hear me out fully this time?"

Her eyes soften as she asks me to follow her. We enter into her gardening room. She securely closes the doors and sits.

"You father and I never....we never disbelieve you. It was just something we could do nothing about. Your father is an arrogant man. He will always place his work and reputation ahead of his family. I had to do the same or this marriage wouldn't have worked out."

"You chose the easy way out?"

"Vivian, I have often come up to you as a selfish woman who does nothing short of what she needs to do for her gain. But I had to- no. I made the choice to do this. Because of my children. You father would have thrown me out if he had the chance to. He never wanted children.

When I had Bennet, he was so closed off at first, but then the idea of an heir made him happy. When I had you, he wasn't so pleased. Yet he had a reputation to keep and hence we pretended that this family is perfect.

Had I disagreed with you father on the Topic of Jason, he would not have been forgiving. I could not approach you. Yet I was so happy that you left this hell to go find peace. Had it been on me, I would have killed Jason a long time back. But now, I know that it's not my battle. It's yours. I always wanted to say this but...... I would have rather you see me as a coldhearted person rather than a coward. "

She keeps looking at me, waiting for an answer.

How could I have not known this?

I knew my father was influential. But so much that he broke our whole family, I couldn't comprehend it.

I would have blamed my mother earlier, but now that I will have a child soon. I couldn't even think twice to save my child if Sebastian didn't want them.

"Why now?" I ask.

"What?"

"Why are you telling me this now?" I expand.

"Because your father trusts me currently. Rather, he thinks that I'm no threat. I will only say this once and never repeat it." She looks dead serious. "Do not trust your father. He has sources everywhere."

"What do you mean by that?" I ask. I already knew that I couldn't trust my father.

"Leave the country as soon as you can." She says, getting up abruptly. "You will never find peace here. They won't let you."

"Wait," I say, going after her as she goes to open the door. "Who they?"

"I am sorry, Vivian. But he's here. Your father is here. Leave out of the back door. Meet me tomorrow at Lotus Cafe." She says rushing out.

With that my mother leaves. I pick up my phone and in a dazed state leave the house without seeing anyone on the way out.
------------------------

"Where are you?" I call him.

"On my way home now. You need anything on the way?" He asks.

"Nope."

"Not craving anything?" He laughs.

"Just you. So come home fast." I answer. His sharp intake of breath makes me laugh.

"Such a tease." He mumbles.

"I'll be home in 15 minutes. Get something to munch on till then."

"See you then. Bye."

"Yeah." And he cuts the call. Thank God he's not the 'you cut the phone. No you cut the phone' type.

I go into the kitchen and heat up the leftovers from last night. A few minutes later the doorbell rings.

I leave the kitchen to go get the door. Clearly it wasn't Sebastian. He knew the passcode.

Without opening the door I check the camera.

Standing outside was Jason.

Why the fuck is he here? If I don't answer and not make a noice, maybe he will leave. I couldn't breathe. He told me he would never let me forget him.

The doorbell rings again.

I tiptoe to Sebastian's, well now our, room and slowing close the door, locking it. Picking up the telephone, I call the security down and tell them to get rid of the unwanted man standing out.

Then I call Sebastian. Once again the doorbell rings. This time more violently.

"Miss me already?" He says, so much humour in his voice. When I don't answer, with short breaths, he continues. "Hey, what's wrong?"

"I...Jason is standing outside of house. He is-" I freeze when I hear the ping voice. The main door just opened.

Where is the security?! How did he get our pin?!!

"Baby! What just happened. Talk to me Viv!" I concentrate back to Sebastian.

"The main the door just opened." I whisper. I slowly go towards the bathroom when his voice comes.

"Vivian, come on out." His sickly smooth  voice calls out.

"Listen. I am 5 minutes away from home. Get inside the bathroom and do not come out. Dont cut the call, Alec is calling the police now." Sebastian instructs.

I go inside the bathroom when Jason speaks again.

"I know you are somewhere in here. The question is are you going to come out by yourself or do I have to drag you out?"

I dont make a sound as I make the last minute decision and close the bathroom door from outside. The knob was a press lock type so it looked as of it was locked from inside. Then I go to the walk in closet, purposefully I leave the door unlocked.

Getting into the suits rack and kneel down, getting behind the clothes.

"Viv, where are you?" Sebastian says. "Please tell me he didn't get to you yet." He whispers.

"I love you." I say softly and cut the call. Switching off my phone so that he wouldn't call back.

I hope they show up fast. I have to keep my baby safe. Keeping a hand on my flat stomach, I softly whisper.

"I will protect you."

I couldn't keep the phone on in case he called again.

I wait, my breathing shallow as I hear the door to Sebastian's room bang open. Jumping slightly at the loud bang, I curl in more.

"You can't run from me, baby." He sings.

I hear his footsteps come to the walk in closet, he then turns the knob and when the door opens, he looks around and leaves.

The door is kept open so I can partially see his back as he goes towards the bathroom. Turning the knob, he laughs when it does not open.

"So naive. Come out now and we can go in peace." He bargains as he bangs on the door. "Or I can come in there myself. "

He then pulls out something that shines a little and I'm confused.

"I am done being patient, my little Vivi . I am going to count till 3 and then you are forcing me to come in myself."

He starts the countdown.

"1." He drums his fingers on the door.

"2." He puts his head on the door.

"3." In a flash he moves away from the door and a bang goes out.

It was a gun shot.

That shiny thing was a gun.

The door lock gives up and Jason goes in the bathroom.

Thats when I hear noices out.

"Jason Quinn! Drop your weapons and drop to your knees. Keep you hands where we can see them."

The police is here!!

Jason starts cursing and leaves the bathroom to go out.

I don't dare to move.

"Vivian!" Sebastian voice calls out.

"She would have come back to me! But you! You took her from me!" Jason shouts.

I slowly get out of my hiding spot. I come out right on time seeing the officers take him away.

"Run Vivian!" Jason shouts. "He is out there to get you!!"

"Shut the fuck up!" Sebastian snaps as Jason and the police finally leave.

Then Sebastian turns to me. I look at his worried eyes as he pulls me to him, looking for injuries.

"Are you both okay?" He asks softly.

I just put my arms around him as I hug him.

"I don't want to stay here." I mumble into his shirt.

"Let's get out of here, then."
