4 Cookies and the Lycanthrope Who Thanked Me for Them
After telling me his name, Lycan offered to buy me dinner - an apology for the cookies he finally thanked me for. He realised that he, like myself, was useless unless we were together. Although, he didn't elaborate on how he had come to that conclusion.
"So, do you eat your steak raw, too?" I asked him as we sat in a booth at the diner where only the coolest kids would hang out.
"Not unless I catch it myself," he said, his stomach grumbling again. "Excuse me."
With that, he bolted out of the door on all fours, but I wasn't too worried. Maybe he had some gas and didn't want to embarrass himself in front of me.
When he came back moments later, his clothes and face were dirty, and there was red around his mouth like he had eaten a mega messy jelly sandwich.
"I'm just going to have something to drink, if that's okay," he said.
"Oh," I frowned a little, and he rose his eyebrows in question. "It's okay. I just thought it would be nice to eat together, since we're on our first date and all."
Lycan's eyebrows rose even higher, to the point where I almost couldn't see them, "I don't think you'd want to see what I have for breakfast."
My eyes grew with concern, but he just smiled and laid his elbows on the table. When the waitron arrived, he calmly ordered some manly alcoholic beverage he should not have been allowed to drink at his age, and I ordered your regular English breakfast - with extra bacon, because bacon was the equivalent of oxygen to me. Bacon and Lycan.
"So, tell me about yourself," Lycan spoke when we were alone.
"Well," I began, scrunching my nose up in thought. "I'm an outcast, I like nineties films and the library, and I haven't been kissed by a boy yet."
"What?" he nearly choked. "But you're so hot!"
Lycan thought I was 'hot'? He really was the one.
"Yeah, well, I've been saving myself for graduation," I blushed, while fidgeting with a ribbon on my blouse. "What about you?"
"Oh, I'm very experienced," he nonchalantly implied.
That was not what I meant, he knew that, right? I gulped awkwardly in silence. Thankfully, the waitron arrived with my meal, so I had an excuse for not saying anything.
When we left the restaurant, we decided to take a leisurely stroll, because I didn't have a car anymore and Lycan only ever ran everywhere. His parents, who already loved me like a daughter, had driven us here, but we didn't want to trouble them.
Suddenly, it began to rain.
I spun around giddily as the sparkling raindrops kissed my flawless skin.
Kissed, I thought of the word fondly, before turning to Lycan.
"Kiss me," I giggled as I skipped towards him in the rain.
"Okay," he said shyly, but he didn't hesitate at all.
There we were, kissing in the rain. His lips were so soft, his tongue was... also soft. It was meant to be.
