Chapter 15: Ditch

I didn't argue with Vince to let me ride the bike back home, I didn't want to risk bargaining something else this time. I unwrapped my arms from around him and stepped off the bike.

"Thanks for tonight, I actually had fun," I gave a supporting smile.

Vince rubbed his hand at the back of his neck, "Lori?"

"Yes?"

"Goodnight," he blushed. Did Vincent Westwood just blush? Holy shit, it's the apocalypse!

Do I hug him, or kiss his cheek or go inside or wait until he leaves?

"Good night," I bit my lip still trying to contemplate what I do.

"Go on in," he nodded his head to my front door. Sweet, he was going to make sure I literally got home. I unlock the door and waved him goodbye as I step in.

"Is that him?"

"Holy!" I jump and drop my keys holding my hand to my ruptured chest. "Mom! You scared me!"

"Sorry..." she blushed slightly. "All I could see was that he had some nice shoulders and rode a bike. Is he a bad boy?"

"Mom," I rolled my eyes.

Was he a bad boy? A guy that torments people for pleasure, power abusive, and lacks school attendance. Yeah he could pass for a bad boy.

"Do you like him?" she asked.

"I um, I like... Someone else," I blurted.

"Oh my! Who's the lucky guy," she grinned like a romantic.

"His name is Emmett, he's really smart, like when I say genius I'm not kidding, he has one of the highest IQs. He's also sweet and caring," I tried describing him.

"Then what's the bad boy like?" she asked wiggling her brows.

"He's... a mystery. When he opens up to you a bit it only leads to more questions and walls," I admit.

"Oooh, dark and mysterious, I like," she grinned.

"Mom! You're married and he's as old as your child!" I gasped.

She burst into laughter, she was messing with me.

"Pumpkin you're home," my dad's head popped from the kitchen. He had a little pie left over.

"Hi daddy," I went over and wiped off the pie before my mom noticed and kissed his cheek.

"Did you have fun?" he asked, giving me a secret high five from behind his back.

"Yeah, I actually did surprisingly."

It was true. "I met an old friend. Remember that girl Vicky I told you about?"

"The one from your trip to Africa?" asked my dad. Oh wow he actually paid attention and remembered my friends. Warmth filled me up, he was a good father.

"Yeah her! She's going to Westwood now," I smiled.

"That's amazing honey! Invite her over and your friend Allison. Isn't it time we meet them?" asked my mom.

"Soon, oh and daddy, I got a lot of business cards," I said pulling them out to show him them. He looked at them with an impressed look. It felt good to make him proud. I haven't felt this good since I got my first 100%.

"See honey, I told you Westwood was a good idea, she's a natural just like her old pop," he told my mom.

She sighed in defeat, "Fine I'll admit it, it will be good for her future. Now I think it's time we all hit the hay."

***

Today, the girls and I were having a bonding day, I had to work a morning shift at the cafe before we went out. However, I didn't expect them to come visit me at work... with guests.

"What are you guys doing here?" I asked wiping my hands on my apron.

"We thought we'd wait here until you finished," said Ally.

"Yeah I don't mind you two, but what about them?" I asked pointing outside the glass windows to Ryan, Emmett and Vince. They all looked so good. How was it possible to look runway worthy so early in the morning? Even Ally and Vicky looked good. Now that I think about it, all these rich folk people looked good. I felt very self conscious with the bags under my eyes and outfit of choice which was a light pink tank top and light jeans. I had light make up and my hair was tied in a high ponytail. Can I scream average any louder?

Ryan's eyes widened when he saw us before waving at us and saying something to the boys.

"Ugh, I thought we ditched them," moaned Vicky.

I raised a brow Ally as Vicky slipped on her sunglasses and tried covering her face with her hair.

"From what I understood, the boys decided to pay Vincent a surprise visit this morning and 'overheard' us on the phone," sighed Ally.

The store chimed as to signal that someone entered the store.

"Hello girls, it's a surprise seeing you here," said Ryan, he may be a good singer, but he was the worst actor ever. Can't have it all right?

"Yeah right, that's why you've been on my tip as to where I was going out this morning and with who," grumbled Vicky who, if I was correct, was slightly blushing.

In fact, everyone was acting sort of weird and on their toes. No one was looking anyone in the eye. Something was fishy.

"I was just being a guy and worrying about my best friend's sister," Ryan put his hand to his chest and pretending to look offended. I shifted my gaze to Vince who was staring at me weirdly which made me blush. I immediately looked at Emmett and smiled, seeing Emmett always put me in a good mood.

"You're working today, Monkey?" Emmett asked in that adorable accent.

"Yes she is," Mike's voice boomed from over me, placing his hands on my shoulders.

"Who's that," Vicky whispered to me.

"Mike! Sorry these are my friends Victoria and Allison. You've met Vince and Ryan, but this here is Emmett. Everyone this is Mike, my boss," I introduced.

"It's a pleasure meeting you," Vicky gave Mike a startling smile that would have any man on his knees. Yes, clearly a Westwood. Now I got what she meant by her type of guy. Mike was just that. Other than being cute, he was mature, smart, hardworking, and knew what it was like to work for his future. Ryan had some competition, too bad he was the only one playing the game. Even so, this guy was not giving up, I had to give him some credit.

Mike blushed at Vicky's flirting, I didn't blame him, she was stunning.

"Oh my God! It's Ryan Thane!" a shrill shriek broke our little scene.

Ryan was attacked by some fans, his angry look just seemed to intensify.

Mike looked at me as to stop the disturbance before things got out of hand. What do I do?

"Girls, unless you want to be locked up for creating a public disturbance, then I suggest you give the man some space," Emmett spoke out.

Ryan's fans grew weary before going back to where they came from.

"It's usually me that gets in trouble for creating a public disturbance," Ryan raised his brows.

"It worked didn't it," shrugged Vince. It was the first time he spoke since he got here. Why was I blushing, he only spoke?! "You guys sit down before Lori loses her job. I'll order the drinks."

No! Don't leave me alone with him! My silent pleas were ignored as they all walked away except for Vince.

I watched Emmett pull out a chair for Ally while she was too busy ogling Vince. Ryan tried to imitate him, but Vicky had already sat down too busy ignoring Ryan because her attention was on Mike. What was going on here? I feel like I'm in a drama.

"Hello Lori."

I dared look a Vince as he flashed his heart throbbing smile. It never loses its effect does it?

"Um, Vince, hi..."

Okay in order to stop blushing I needed to avert my eyes to something else, so I looked at the table with my friends. "What can I get you?"

"Eyes over here princess," Vince shot. I dared to look at him again. He looked angry and something else. Well, it was sort of rude not to look at the person you're talking to, but it's hard when he's sex on legs.

"Move it lover boy, I need my coffee too," grumbled a women bouncing a child on her hip. When Vince turned around to grill her she forgot all her hatred and sent him a flirting smile. For Pete's sake, you have a child on your hip!

Vince went ahead and ordered for everyone and leaned against the counter waiting for the drinks.

"It's fine you can go ahead and join them, I'll be right over with your drinks," I said.

"It's fine, I don't mind waiting," he looked me over. I turned tomato instantly. Vince chuckled to himself. Jerk! He knew he had this affect on women and did it anyways.

"Me neither," said the cougar mom in what was suppose to be a husky tone. Gag. Vince looked really uncomfortable even though I thought he got this all the time.

"Go," I shooed him. He shot me a thankful glance before going to his table. The whole time I worked I felt his eyes burning a hole through me. I prayed I wouldn't screw up and embarrass myself in front of him like I usually do. Why did I care? I shouldn't try to impress him anyways.

I finished the order while Mike took care of cougar mom. Carrying the drinks and sweets on a tray I prayed I don't trip bringing it to them. I began to set down the drinks, but Vince stood up and grabbed the tray from me.

"What are you doing?" I asked.

"It's fine, go work behind the counter I got this," he said while he placed the last drink on the table before handing me back the tray. He shot some guys behind me a dangerous look. What's up with him?

I picked up a few empty cups and wiped a table.

"Ryan stop! I can eat by myself," Vicky grabbed the muffin away from Ryan who was trying to feed her, so much for romance. Emmett was whispering to Ally, which seemed to be about those two quarrelling because she was laughing while Vicky and Ryan shot them dangerous looks.

When I went back to the counter two girls ran up to me from their seats.

"When's his shift?" one of them asked.

"Can I work here too?" the other asked.

Who were they talking about? Oh, that's right. Vince helped with serving his table.

"He doesn't work here, he's just a, um, friend," I assured them.

"See I told you we'd have no chance," the brunette whispered.

"With the way he's staring at her, I totally agree," sighed the ginger.

Staring at who? Who was hot enough to have Vince staring at her? I turned around and gasped. He was staring at me. Of course it couldn't be me. It was coincidence, right?

As I docked out of work, the girls hopped in Ally's BMW while the boys tailed us, no matter how hard we tried to shake them off, they wouldn't budge. We got bored eventually and drove to the movies.

"Oh wow, look at that, we meet again," Ryan tried to play it cool. He had shades on and a snapback trying to hide himself, but it didn't help when his whole group was a walking female hormone attraction.

"Idiot, they know," Vince slapped the back of his head. Ryan winced looking at Emmett for help, but he just shrugged.

"Next time, I'm driving," Emmett told Vince who nodded in agreement.

"What is this place Vic?" Vince scrunched his nose in disgust. "Couldn't you just watch it in the home theater?"

"It's too empty for a place that big," she frowned.

"Next you'll tell me bowling or swimming in a public area is better too?" he asked.

"Bowling yes... swimming has too much pee-ers," she frowned.

Holy! These Westwoods richness never seize to shock you into a heart attack.

"So what chick flick are you girls watching?" Emmett asked.

"We were thinking more of a horror," Ally grinned widely.

"Now we have no choice, but to join you. You're going to need a man to protect you," Ryan puffed up his chest.

Emmett looked nervously at Vince who looked like he'd just seen a ghost. "We don't have to watch a movie."

Vince jaw clenched-- only making it look more hot-- and clenched and unclenched his fists.

Wait, hold up.

"Don't tell me the great Vincent Westwood is scared of a horror movie?" I dared.

"You don't know what you're saying. I'm Vincent Westwood, I'm not scared of anything," he smirked, but I could tell it was forced.

I burst into laughter. "Alright then, six tickets to Dark Corners it is!"

Vicky slid in to the seat in the end and waved for me to come sit beside her, but before I can move an inch Ryan slipped into the seat. Vicky hit his arm, somehow this aggressive behaviour towards Ryan reminded me too much of Vince's head smacks.

"Wait, Ally! Let me go in first, I wanna sit beside Emmett, you can sit in between him and Vince," I offered seeing how she hasn't stopped looking at Vince like a love sick puppy. Ally's eyes beamed with joy and blushed a bit. She pushed aside to let me in, but I didn't get far.

"Vince what are you doing? Let go," I tried tugging my arm away from his grip.

"Oh no princess, you're sitting next to me."
