Chapter 11

I slammed the metal door closed and walked away in triumph, turning to grin at the boy next to me, who was finishing up taping the photo on the locker. I waited for him at the end of the hall, leaning against the wall casually as I kept a lookout.

After a few minutes the ebony haired boy bounded into my view, stopping beside me. "All done, Evan." He said, running his hand through his hair to push it out of his face, adjusting his glasses as well.

I looked up at him, smiling in thanks. "Thanks, Nate. I owe you one." I said, pushing myself off the wall with my foot as I started towards the cafeteria.

Nate jogged up to me after a few moments, a pleading but hopeful look in his eyes. "Do you think you could introduce me to Matthew?" He asked, his tone hopeful.

"Patrick? I'll look into it, expect a response within the next few days." I said, noticing that we had neared the cafeteria. I caught a wide smile on his face as I waved him away with my good hand, he nodded and bounded off towards the courtyard as I entered the room.

I was immediately met with silence, my footsteps echoed as I walked towards my table where my friends were sat. I smiled as I saw Craig among them, his eyes filled with fear as he shrank down in his seat.

That's right, he should be fucking scared.

------------------------------

"Always with the dramatic entrance, huh?" Jonathan asked, referring to when Evan had made a sudden appearance after a dramatic exit last time. From where he was sat, he could see him talking and laughing with his friends as though nothing had happened. It honestly sent a shiver down his spine when he thought about just how fast Evan's mood had changed.

Yes, Jonathan was still the new kid but he knew enough about the most popular student to know that this was odd behavior for him. So either he was bipolar, or he had something planned, and Jonathan was willing to believe anything at this point.

"Lately he's been into it, he never used to be." Lui replied dryly, finding more interest in whatever the lunch lady had scooped onto his plate.

Jonathan was surprised Lui was so calm about all his questions, considering that both him and Marcel obviously hated talking about the raven haired boy.

"I think he's finally struck a nerve or something, maybe Craig did it to him. I swear he's more of a dick now than ever." Marcel said, biting into one of cut halves of his sandwich.

"What makes you say that? The Craig thing only happened a few days ago." Lui said, looking up from his food with a spark of interest.

"Nate walked in a few minutes after him, smiling like a Cheshire Cat. Evan obviously talked him into something." Marcel's tone was bored, as if everything had been so obvious when it wasn't.

Jonathan nodded, remembering that he had seen a smiling, ebony haired boy slip into the cafeteria once the commotion about Evan had died down, silent as a mouse. He glanced around the cafeteria as he casually looked for the boy, who was sat near the back of the cafeteria with who Jonathan assumed were his friends and, as he had suspected, the boy was still smiling.

Guess Evan really knows how to make a deal, Jonathan thought to himself as he returned his attention to his friends, who were still gossiping about Evan.

"I'm telling you, whatever Evan is planning, Craig is not going to expect it." Marcel said as Jonathan joined the conversation once again.

"What makes you say that?" Jonathan joined in, always interested in what Lui had to say about the mystery that was Evan Fong.

"Evan never sticks to one method of revenge, he's constantly alternating it so no one will know it's him. It's kind of genius, except he's a dick." Lui said, bored yet bitter.

Jonathan nodded in understanding, clearly Evan had a need for being unable to be traced. Meaning that Evan often felt himself in the need of revenge, certainly mysterious. Especially for a student he had only spoken to once.

But damn, Evan always managed to surprise him with something new.

---------------

Evan followed behind his friends as they walked to their lockers, drifting off into his own thoughts as he absentmindedly moved forward.

Craig had still yet to say one word to him, but he knew that would change soon, he had a plan.

"Hey Craig, can I walk with you real quick? I need your opinion on something." He asked, immediately catching everyone's attention.

"Really? Why don't you just ask me here? Where there's witnesses?"

"Because, I want to talk with you. Is that a problem now?" Evan took a step towards Craig, and he knew that Craig fought the urge to scramble back.

"N-no, not a problem at all. Come on, let's go to my locker then."

Evan brightened immediately. "Great, come on, and guys, can you meet us in the courtyard in exactly five to six minutes? Thanks."

-----

"Look, Evan. I didn't mean what I said, you know that right? I was high, or drunk, I don't even remember, please don't murder me and hide my body in a locker!"

Evan laughed. "Oh, trust me. I'm not gonna do that, no. I was just wondering what's been going while I've been gone? I tried to ask Tyler earlier, but he was super jumpy."

"Nothing's been going on, everyone has just been gossiping about Monday." Craig's voice shook as people saw him and Evan walking together, confusion in their eyes as they watched the pair make their way to Craig's locker.

"Oh, right, Monday. Look, I'm really sorry about that, I shouldn't have hit you. I've just been really moody lately and what you said just ticked me off. I'm sorry. Look, we're at your locker-Oh. I'll see you around, then." Evan said, patting Craig on the shoulder and leaving.

"What? Why-Right. He has his locker here too." Craig said as he saw Lui by his own locker, holding a piece of paper in his hands.

Evan pretended that he didn't see that Lui had the paper as he went to the courtyard where his friend would be, since he had no intentions of staying at school where everyone would be staring at him.

Everyone was waiting when he arrived.

"Oh my god, you killed him, didn't you? Where's his body? Did you burn it? Is that why we have to leave?"

"No, no I didn't kill him. Lui was by his locker, so I left. I just wanted to apologize to him about Monday, I was being bitchy and unreasonable."

The guys looked at him like he was an alien. "What did you do with Evan? Who are you?"

"I'm Evan! C'mon, have I changed that much that I can't apologize to my friend when I make a mista-" Evan stopped, allowing realization to spread across his features as he 'realized' what Lui had been holding. "Shit...No. Fuck!"

"What? What is it? Are you okay?" Tyler immediately ran over to where Evan was freaking out.

He shook his head. "No, I just-never mind." He sighed, running his good hand through his hair. "It's fine, I'm fine."

"What did you do?" David asked seriously as everyone else crowded around Evan and Tyler. Everyone knew he had strange behavior, but he was never one for outbursts.

"Nothing, I just forgot to do my chores. I'm fine, really." He smiled, silently denying all their accusations.

"So? That's no reason for you to have an outburst like that." Tyler said, trying to get Evan to calm down, holding onto his shoulders.

Evan tore away from his grip, turning to face the school, shaking his head once more.

"Just, drop it, okay?" He quickly turned around and gripped Tyler's shoulders. "There's nothing wrong."

Tyler held Evan's gaze, knowing that he should believe him, but he couldn't. What was wrong with him?

"You wouldn't lie to me, right Ev?" As soon as Tyler said it, Evan's eyes left his for a split second, they flickered as his friend shook his head.

"No, of course not."
