♦♦♥April♥♦♦

I wake up in an unknown room, or that's what I think at first. As I adjust to my surroundings I realize I am in my uncle's house. These rooms are so black, so familiarly black. For some reason, this house is painted black and has black metal furniture. Maybe they are representing my uncle's black heart. I try to get up, but my body feels weak. There is a dim light at the corner which is enough for me to see the whole room. The door is ajar enough, for a small stream of light to come through.

I close my eyes again and lie in the bed quietly. Suddenly that moment flashes in front of my eyes when I pecked Christian's cheek and my eyes snap open. Why am I thinking about that? Is it because I have to live with him now?

I shake my head slightly to make the image in my head disappear. Just then the door opens and two well built male bodies walk in.

Both of them come to a halt when they notice I'm awake. "April!" Jayson rushes to my side and as expected his eyes are red. Such a crybaby. "How do you feel? You need to eat something now okay? Why can't you take care of yourself? I'm not going to be with you all the time!" I can't stop laughing at him and he just stares at me with his lips slightly pouted. "Jayson you're so cute!" I try to hold back my laughter but fail. But when I finally calm down I notice Christian staring curiously at me. He looks more confused than worried.

"I'm fine and yes I will eat. Don't worry about me so much." Jayson looks at me like he doesn't believe me but nods anyways.

"Christian." I start. "Can I ask you a favor?"

He simply nods in reply. "Can I stay here for a while?" His eyes widen in a second and his eyeballs keep darting between me and Jayson. "Stay...as in live here? With me?" There is an obvious surprise in his voice but somehow I sense happiness within it as well. "Yes." I answer, smiling.

"So...in other words you want to rebel against your brother, is that it?" He asks as a smirk plays on his lips.

I take a deep breath. "Yes maybe you are right." His eyes twinkle with curiosity but he doesn't ask anything else.

"Fine by me." He says and leaves quietly. He is mysterious as always. My mind wonders back to the moment when he appeared behind his black hoodie and I felt happy but my body gave out and I fell. As he didn't ask me what happened I couldn't bring myself to ask him what was he doing outside, hiding behind his hoodie at ten in the night.

"I'll make you something even if it means I have to use this guy's kitchen." Jayson mutters beside me and I chuckle.

"Why do you hate him so much Jay?"

"April, actually I should be asking you why are you liking him so much?" His dark blue eyes narrow at me.

"I don't like him Jayson. I just think he is not as bad as he looks." I retort but inside my mind I'm blowing up with embarrassment. His question hit me accurately and my own self is flooding the head with all sorts of things.

Do I like Christian? If I think clearly, I obviously hated him a lot when we first met and didn't like his guts, the vibes he gave out. But now, I'm trusting him...with my life. I'm thinking of him in the time of emergency. His head is popping in my mind when I'm in trouble.

"I highly doubt that's all there is to it. Ap, something has happened and you're not telling me about it but it's okay." Jayson gives me a smile before patting my head twice. "You need rest. I'll make some mac and cheese for you okay? Till then close your eyes and get some rest."

"Seriously? Yay!" I say clapping my hands and give a small kiss on his cheek. I close my eyes quickly and get ready for a small nap.

"You can have some too....if you want." Jayson pushes the big bowl filled with hot mac and cheese towards Christian.

"I'm.. fine. Thanks." Christian tries to take his eyes away from the mouthwatering heaven but fails miserably. Still he chooses to control himself even more.

I gleefully rubbed my hands together. "Fine, I'll eat it all then, this baby is mine to-"

A hand snatches away the bowl from me and I glare at him. He was acting like he didn't need this yummy food just a moment before didn't he? "What happened to your pride Christian? You didn't want it before."

"That's because this guy here didn't look like he wanted me to eat." Christian points at Jayson and I press my lips tightly to stifle a chuckle.

"I have a name you jerk." Jayson says spinning a fork between his fingers

"Really? Congratulations." Christian takes two forks in his hands and starts spinning them.

"Stop with the forks guys, please." I say but no one pays attention. They are busy killing each other in their minds it seems.

"I hate you, including this arrogant attitude of yours, who do you think you are?" Jayson actually throws the fork in his hand in the air and at Christian which makes me squeak.

Christian easily dodges it and the poor fork lands on the floor. "I'm Christian McKinney, unlike you, I know my name."

I can't help but laugh out and I earn a death glare from my best friend. "Jayson. I'm Jayson Cooper. I have a better name."

"I don't think there is a good or bad or better or best name Jayson. Every name is special." Christian also throws a fork at him. It seems like he has injected a little bit extra energy into it as the fork goes straight towards the kitchen after Jayson dodges it and crashes on the window, breaks through and goes outside.

"Oh God that's it. Stop it you two!" I shout, throwing my fork on my plate and run towards the kitchen. I know there is a back door here so I get outside and look for the fork. It's not like I hold the fork very dear but I want to check whether or not it hit something or someone or maybe an animal and left it bleeding. Thanks to Christian, that might happen.

"Thank God." I pick up the fork which lies between the messy leaves and walk back inside.

These two are still glaring at each other which makes me sigh. Boys.

"Can I eat in peace now? Please?" I ask both of them. Thankfully they nod and the rest of the time I devour my favorite dish without any disturbance.

A strong burnt smell of food wakes me up from my dreamless sleep. For a minute everything is hazy as I open my eyes. "Hazel." A voice calls and I look at that direction. A blurry figure walks in, even though it's blurry I figure out it's a boy. I automatically assume it's my brother and quickly get up, lunging forward to give him a morning hug.

"Mornin" I mumble in his ear and his skin tenses.

It is when I look into his dark grey, almost black eyes I realize I'm in a different house and in a different person's arms. "Shit." I pull back softly and land back on the bed. His narrowed eyes curiously observe me and I shift nervously under his gaze.

"Can you cook?" He suddenly asks out of nowhere reminding me that the burning smell still lingering in the air. I scrunch my nose at it and nod. He glances back and looks at me again with a pleading look. "I can't. Still I tried to make breakfast which turned into a burning hell. So.." He bites his bottom lip. "Help me?"

I control the urge to kiss him, he is looking adorable with his slightly messed up hair and small pout forming on his lips. I can't believe he's the bad boy everyone is so afraid of at school. He's a totally different person. Someone who is apparently not good at cooking. Someone completely normal.

"Sure." I grin at him making him beam instantly. "Really? Thanks Hazel, well I'm waiting downstairs then, you can take your time, we are not late or anything so." He gets up rubbing his hand on his faded jeans and brushing his hair with his hand.

As he goes out my eyes land on the burned omelette which is placed on the small coffee table at the center of this room. I walk to it and a small smile forms on my lips as I look at the almost burned omelette and before I know it my hands tear off a small piece of it and even though it's charred and burned at sides it tastes amazing.

It tastes like happiness.
