Ella | Room
I jumped up to the loud sound of music. I sat there looking around the room in confusion.
"Did I fall asleep?" I muttered.
I got out of bed and headed to the window that had the overview of the backyard. I saw Ace and Blake by the grill, Kenzie, Gracie and Noelle inside of the pool, Nina in one of the lawn chairs with shades on and Kelly nowhere to be found.
I jumped as my door slammed open, revealing none other than Kelly.
"Oh, so you're awake now."
"So I did fall asleep." I muttered. "About how long?" I asked, sitting on the couch.
"I don't know. We were gone for about an hour and got back about twenty minutes ago."
"So about an hour and twenty minutes. Dang. I wish it was longer." I said, yawning.
"Well it's not. Come on, Ella. We're having fun down there, please don't stay cooped up in here."
But that's what I want to do.
Because you're lazy or because you don't want to see Blake?
Shut up, stupid.
I think you forget that we're the same person.
"Okay, alright." I sighed. "I'll be down in a second."
"Five minutes." She said, exiting my room.
"I don't see why I tolerate her so much." I grumbled as I walked to my suitcase.
After slipping one of my many black bikinis' and black coverups, I walked out of my room and to the backyard.
"There she is!" Grayson said, clapping like an idiot.
I swear, my family is full of idiots.
Including you, right?
You too, we're the same person, remember?
"Here I am." I said, going to sit by Gracie who was dangling her feet into the pool.
"Took her long enough." Nina said, rolling her big eyes.
Stupid dog.
"So, what're we having?" I asked, ignoring her.
"Steak, hamburgers, mashed potatoes, corn, greens and some other shit."
"Sounds good." I said.
"So what are our plans for tomorrow?" Gracie asked, throwing her arm around my shoulder.
"I'm going exploring." I said, shrugging.
"And while we're out, we can go shopping." Kenzie said.
"Shopping? Oh I'm in." Gracie said, nodding.
"Noelle and I are going to find some clubs worth our time and Blakey is coming with us." Nina said, moving her sunglasses up to her head.
Does she really just choose what he's going to do and who he's going to do it with?
I looked over at Blake to see his jaw clenched while glaring at his phone, letting me know that he's angry because of something on the phone, not about what Nina said.
In all honesty, I really just wanted to sit with him and ask what's wrong and what can I do to help.
But why should I care?
You shouldn't—remember that.
I sighed, trying to move around my thoughts that involved my ex-boyfriend.
"Well, Ace and I are going to every restaurant here." Grayson said, fist bumping Ace.
"Yeah we are." Ace said, laughing.
"Fat asses." Kelly said, laughing with Ace.
"Hey, what're you doing tomorrow, Kelly?" I asked,
"Hm probably go exploring with you."
I got ready to reply but Nina jumped up, squealing.
"Joseph's here, Joseph's here!"
Joseph? Who's that?
"Who in the hell is Joseph?" Gracie asked.
"He's our friend from school, he was going to be a bit later coming but he's here now." Noelle said.
"Okay and why didn't anyone tell us about this sooner?" Kelly asked.
"Why would we?" Nina snapped, coming back with a male behind her.
The male was nice looking (not better than Blake, but nice looking) with blonde hair and a nice height.
"Oh, I don't know, maybe because you three weren't invited in the first place." Kelly snapped.
"Technically, we were. Grayson invited Blake." Nina said, sitting back in her chair.
"Exactly. He invited Blake. Not Blake and his-
I could tell Kelly was going to say something that was probably going to end up with a fist fight, so before that happened, I quickly spoke up.
"Hey, it's fine. The more the merrier, right? I'm Ella, and this is my bestfriend Kelly." I said, introducing myself and Kelly to Joseph.
"Oh, you're Ella? Damn Blake, now I see why you-" He began but was cut off by a punch from Blake. "Nice to meet you." He groaned.
I don't know what that was, but it literally just hurt my feelings.
Maybe it's my looks. Maybe Blake dumped me like a sack of potatoes because he found Nina more attractive and couldn't find another way to break it to me, which is why he avoided me.
And dang, that thought hurts more than not knowing why he dumped me.
I racked my brain trying to find an excuse of why I needed to go up to my room, but I couldn't find one. Instead, I stood up and walked back inside of the house, ignoring the wondering eyes that were on me.
I entered my room and jumped into my bed, trying to hold back the tears that threatened to fall.
I want to go home. I want to move out. I want to quickly finish college so I can move towns. I want to leave my stupid past there. I want an explanation. I want to start my entire life over.
There was a knock on my door before it opened, revealing Gracie and Kelly.
"Ella?" Gracie asked, entering the glass section of my bedroom.
"Go away. Please, go away." I begged., not wanting them to see my leaking eyes.
"You know we aren't going to do that." Kelly said.
"Ella, we're sorry." Gracie said.
"For what, there's nothing for you guys to be sorry for. You weren't the ones who dropped me like I was nothing."
"Yeah but I wasn't there for you." Gracie said, looking at her palms. "I promised to be there for you since last time I wasn't and I broke that promise. I wasn't there when you got your heart broken and I'm so sorry." She finished, finally looking me in the eyes.
"It's fine Gracie. You had your own life to attend to, it's fine. I'm not worried about it but Kelly, why are you sorry?"
"Because he's here with his rich little dog. I can only imagine how this is affecting you." Kelly answered.
"I'll be fine. I told Noelle that I wouldn't let him ruin my time here and I won't. Let's just consider this a down day. I can restart tomorrow." I said, sitting up and wiping underneath my blue eyes.
"That's the spirit." Gracie said.
"Do you still cheer?" I asked, looking at Gracie.
"Yeah, I got on JV."
"Oh, well good. I like that you cheer, it makes you happy." I said, nodding with a smile.
"Just like how food makes you happy." Kelly said, shaking her head.
"Hey, it's not my fault I'm a food fatty." I said, folding my arms.
"I think it is, but dinner should be done, let's eat!" Gracie said, grabbing our arms and dragging us out of my bedroom.

+ This chapter took the longest and I really have no idea why because it's so shitty.
