Night Before Prom

Its the night before prom.

I was nervous and excited at the same time if that makes any sense.

Yeah right. It doesn't.

This is my first ever time going to anything school related. I never went to dances, I never went to proms. I hated school and everyone in it so I had no reason to go to any school event.

But now, its different. I like school and a few people in it. I have a reason to go to school related events and actually enjoy it. I had a reason to go to prom and actually be able to not get picked on because of my size.

"It's tomorrow. It's tomorrow !" Kelly said, bouncing on the balls of her feet.

Kelly was extremely excited because her and Grayson are going together but not as dates.

"Someone's excited." I said, laughing.

"You're damn right I am. I get to go to the prom with all of my friends and Grayson." She said, grinning.

"Okay, Kell." I said, laughing.

We were currently in walmart for some bobby pins and nail polish remover for Gracie.

"Aren't you excited?" She asked.

"Of course I am but it's my junior prom. I think I might be more excited for my senior prom." I said, looking at two different types of nail polish remover; acetone and non-acetone.

"Huh. How so? Do you think you'll be going with Blake?"

"I dont think so. By that time he'll be a sophomore in college so, he'll probably be busy or something."

"So overall how do you feel with still dating him while he's at college in another state?"

"Uh Im actually scared." I said, facing her entirely.

"What? For what?"

"Because it's college, Kell. College is a time for exploring and having fun, just like highschool. I know there are prettier, funner, girls out there. What if he cheats on me with one of them? Or what if he breaks up with me for one of them?"

That was the biggest fear I have. I have given everything to him; my virginity included. I know that Blake and I probably wouldn't last forever but I somehow had hopes in my head that we could work over long distance.

Little did I know, having hope was dangerous and stupid.

(Little reference to the future 😉)

"I wont say that he won't leave you for one of them because I can say that, I dont know that. I cant tell the future. But what I can say is it's clear to everyone how much Blake loves you and its also clear how much Blake cares about you so therefore, if Blake does catch feelings for another girl, I know that he'll at least tell you and let you down gently." She said, picking up a pretty blue nail polish.

"And if that happens then I'll probably end up thinking that the love was fake from the beginning."

"See, you cant do that because it's not. The love you have now is real. He's stood up for you, he's dealt with your period mood swings, he's done alot of things for you that someone faking as an boyfriend wouldn't do, no one would go through all of that trouble if they were faking. He loves you, Ella since his sophomore year. The future is unpredictable. You just have to be ready for it."

I nodded, taking in her words. I got ready to reply but was cut short at the voice of Mariana.

"Hi girls." She said, stepping down our aisle with a jock known as Tucker behind her.

"Hi Mariana. How are you?" I questioned.

While as I was okay with Mariana, Kelly still despised her. I have been planning on telling Mariana that I accept her apology and I forgive her but I just haven't yet. It's not that I haven't had the time, because I have but it's just because I've been too lazy to go to her.

"Im good. I got accepted into UNC Greensboro for 2020."

"Oh that's nice. Are you going there?" I asked.

"I dont know yet. I also got accepted into NYU."

"That's good too." I said, earning a smile in return.

"Hi Kelly." Mariana said, looking at Kelly.

"Mariana." Kelly stated.

"I guess you're still mad at me huh." Mariana asked, sarcastically.

"No shit sherlock."

"Okay, you know what? I dont care anymore Kelly. You've been mad at me for over seven months. That's old now okay. I told you I was sorry multiple times! If you want to stay mad at me forever then be my guest because I freaking tried. I don't know what else more I can do. I stood up to Aria, I got kicked off of the cheer team, which was a dream of mine by the way, I kept apologizing, I have done everything that I can. If you still don't forgive me then oh well, that's all up to you." Mariana said.

Kelly looked at Mariana like she was about to murder her.

"Since we're on this subject. Mariana..." I began, grabbing her attention. "What you did was wrong, no doubt but you paid for it. So I don't know about Kelly but I accept your apology and I do forgive you." I said, causing Mariana to go wide eyed.

"Really?" Mariana asked.

"Yes." I said.

"Thank you, thank you." She said, yanking me into a hug.

"You're welcome, I said, laughing. "Tomorrow's prom night after all."

"So you're going?" Mariana asked.

"Yeah, with Blake. Who're you going with?" I asked.

"Tucker." She saod, nodding her head towards the guu who had his hands in his pockets and looking at us.

"Oh. That's nice. So I'll see you there then." I said.

"Yes you will. Can't wait to see your dress." She said.

"Same here."

I waved a goodbye at her and turned to Kelly.

"So I take it you're not forgiving her?" I asked, sheepishly.

"That's the thing. I accept her apology but I can't forgive her. If the only thing she did was ditch us, then yeah. I would probably be able to accept her apology and forgive her but that's not all she did. She took it upon herself to screw around with the guy she knew I liked. I just dont think that's forgiveable."

"I understand that. Are you going to tell her that though?"

"I dont know how to." She said, sighing.

"To me it doesn't matter how you say it, it just matters that you do say it. How about tomorrow at the prom you just come right out and tell her. Then it'll be off of your chest."

"I guess that'll work."
